Now that SMPLive is canon to the DSMP, and TikTok has gotten their grubby little hands on it and made it into something to make Schlatt’s character less negative, I would like to discuss Schlatt’s character from the point of view of SMPLive being canon. SMPLive was a much different environment to DSMP and it was ALL JOKES but, with it now being canon, I can analyze it seriously.

First off, let’s address the Schlatt and Wilbur friendship theories. This wasn’t a big theme on SMPLive and was actually nearly completely independent. The main plot-heavy interactiong between Wilbur and Schlatt on SMPLive was Schlatt manipulating Wilbur into buying Schlattcoins by essentially framing him in a crime, lol. IIRC, all of the main friendship stuff between them was built in Wilbur solo videos. Schlatt and Wilbur friendship isn’t canon SOLELY from SMPLive, but I vaguely remember them mentioning the lava videos once during Manberg, so that’s something for you.

Another big take I see is that Schlatt wasn’t always a shitty dictator. This is true, to some aspect, but also not at all- remember Schlatt’s mayoral campaign? He forcefully seized power of Spawn City, and then got jurisdiction over Fallen Kingdom in order to build a Costco there. Whenever he got leadership positions, he’s been corrupt. This includes Schlatt & Co.

Schlattcoin as a whole was built on lies. It was an exit scam. That was literally the whole bit around the beginning of it: he sold it to Connor, who then sued him because it was an exit scam, only to join in later. This is where cuck shed comes from- Schlatt scamming Toxxic- and where Wilbur and Schlatt’s alleged friendship is torn apart.

This next part isn’t inherently illegal, but Schlatt was a shitty boss. He overused unpaid child labor (IamTy, my beloved) on the guise of an internship. Ty was pretty much manipulated into work as an intern at Schlatt & Co as a way to build his character and.. stuff.. Yeah, this happens all the time in real life and was a bit but now that it’s canon I can overanalyze it. Schlatt also manipulated his other employees (Connor, *, and Altrive) into doing illegal business dealings with him and helping him to run an exit scam. Connor was the only one truly clued in, and even then Schlatt didn’t give him fair pay and they were always arguing over Connor’s pay.

Again, I’m aware that it’s all bits I just used to have a hyperfixation on SMPLive and now have a lot to think about, lol
