I think I figured it out.
I remember in 5th grade I believe I said something to Drew about Ashley (I mean...I was young back then, what the hell did I know) liking some other kid so they broke up or some other shit (I told Drew to tell her he didn't hear it from me, but of course that kid couldn't keep his mouth shut either lol) so Ashley and Xannie called me and all that stuff. Then in 6th grade when Xannie was telling everyone else secrets at the lunch table, she wouldn't tell me and just said out loud "I'm not telling you, An, I don't trust you" or something along those lines. So. From then on, I learned that
1. I hated Xannie.
2. I would never tell another secret.
So back then through the rest of middle school and in high school, whenever anybody told me anything, I would (usually) keep my mouth shut if it was that important. I wouldn't say anything unless someone else brought it up first. Or if it was between our close friends and they already knew then we'd talk about it or whatever.
Could also be the reason why I never voice my opinion anymore. It's like whatever I say is upsetting so why even say it at all.
Everyone knows I hate confrontation. So. Best way to deal with it? Keep quiet.
Childhood. What were you.
