I went to a private school for SPED kids (not that I like the term, but that’s what they called us).
My middle school was k-12+ and had maybe 70 kids all the grades combined last I was there?
My high school was 6-12 and had maybe 60-80 kids depending on the time of year — my graduating class was the largest ever there at 22!!
I am eternally grateful I didn’t go to public school, and even more grateful I didn’t go to a private school that wasn’t SPED (my schooling was funded by the city because they couldn’t accommodate my needs in a public school setting — never could’ve afforded it otherwise and only got in after a year of fighting the school to provide FAPE (free and appropriate education, which is what every student in the US is legally entitled to - meaning if they can’t provide it at a public school, they have to pay for a private SPED one).
Anyways there’s no real point to me saying this other than to point out that there’s more options than just “public, homeschool, and regular private school” and also…
How tf does anyone survive in a public school with 1000+ kids?????
(I got overwhelmed in a class of what, 8 max??)
it's a really big building. nasty. 60-80 kids per school sounds wonderful. also ty for this information!
ok @strawberrie-faerie, @void-fireworks, we have more input now
What color note books are for what subject
Green: science
Yellow : history
Blue : English
Red : math
PERIOD
at least 75% of history/social studies teachers are really just old nerds and the sooner you realize this the better
i HATE physics
rant under the cut
TLDR; i hate flipped classrooms and my honors physics teacher sucks (if anyone wants to try to explain physics my dm's r open)
it's common, especially in more street-smart circles, to push the idea that "grades don't really matter," and "grades don't mean anything about your ability to succeed or your level of intelligence," but although you seek to comfort the kids who struggle in school, you're also indirectly making the kids with good grades feel as if their hard work and academic achievement is inherently impractical, irrelevant, or not worth recognizing.
i feel like private school is only worth it if the uniform is cute (i dont have much of an opinion as ive only been in public school however I hate uniforms so this is my opinion)
ur welcome to ignore this if you'd like
personally i don't mind the uniforms- most of the time, that is. a point in their favour is that what with the dress code and the mandatory uniforms literally no one can be bullied for their fashion sense. like of course it restricts self expression n stuff but it also restricts the amount of bullying for trivial things like that . however i draw the line at long sleeves and lace in 30 degree celsius heat
You know... I'm definitely no expert on this stuff but 11 50-minute classes on one day doesn't sound healthy.
