I fucking hate that stupid mentality some people have that just rides horses into the ground until they die. Horses give their entire lives to us, they give us everything and work their fucking asses for us. When the time comes, give them a happy retirement. They deserve it.

You know who should have a monument built for them? Our school horses. They do their job so incredibly well! Today all the mares were crazy because half of them is in heat and the other half is cranky. My students, a group of mothers, were very intimidated by them. These mares were NUTS. They were so nuts, these women wanted to not ride even though they only get to ride once a week. I told them they would be fine, that we would try and that if they felt uncomfortable, to tell me. I've taught this group for three weeks and they were super uncomfortable but they believed me. The mares were crazy until we bridled them. Even the youngest one, a seven year old mare who has only been a school horse for six months, settled down. I told these ladies that they would be fine and my horse ladies made sure they WERE fine. They did their job, they behaved perfectly, they were little fuzzy sunshines and these ladies had a BLAST! They felt safe and they were happy and my heart is so full of love for these wonderful horses who just do their job regardless of whether it rains or shines, who teach a ton of beginners how to ride, who are just generally a very hard-working bunch, and who deserve every single medal ever because of how absolutely rock solid and wonderful they are.
