"How will colleges know how rigorous our curriculum is or if I took the hardest classes possible? How will they know the difference between OChem and Chemistry of Food?"

When evaluating your application, colleges are most interested in understanding how students took advantage of the educational experience they had available. During the application process a ton of emphasis is place on the curriculum, taking in mind what is available. Especially for highly selective institutions, students who take the most rigorous curriculum available to them will have the advantage. So how do schools know what is 'most rigorous' at Bard since there are no easy markers like AP, Honors, etc. especially since ALL of our courses are college courses and they are all rigorous?

Two words: School Profile.

The School Profile is a little known document that is a VERY important part of your college application. Your CTO advisor will attach it to their letter of recommendation along with your transcript in what's know as the "Secondary School Report". In a nutshell, the School Profile officially translates your transcript into terms college admissions offices can use to compare your record to those submitted by other college hopefuls across the country. It also helps application readers evaluate your performance relative to other students in at BHSEC.

Oh and one more thing...

In addition to the School Profile,  Your Counselor Letter plays a big role in helping schools understand the rigor of your coursework. It's your CTO Advisor's responsibility in their letter to accurately describe the course offerings we had in any given year, how you took advantage of them and any other nuances of our curriculum that won't be obvious to Admissions Counselors (e.g., the grading spread in a particular Math Class, the kinds of material covered in a particular course, scheduling conflicts that limit options or rigor, etc.)
