pressure outside = pressure inside = nothing happens

Pressure outside > pressure inside + improper containment = implosion (crushed tin can effect)

Pressure outside < pressure inside + improper containment = explosion (bomb effect)

😢- a line that made you cry

Hmmmm, y’all make me cry all the time but I don’t think I’ve ever made myself cry with anything I’ve written? That said, I’ve definitely has moments where I’ve caught myself off guard with an angsty twist that came out without warning. The end of now use both hands was like that. Once I decided on the trajectory it all came pouring out in a rush and when this part popped out:

Her eyes snap open, and he makes himself look at her long enough to watch the hit land and the hurt bloom.

He's empty, untouchable, she's nothing to him.

Rio doesn't look back.

I had a WHEW OKAY moment. 

There’s some stuff that came out in the outline for the thing I’m working on now that gave me the same kind of OH ALRIGHT feeling, so I can’t wait to subject y’all to I mean share that. 

☕️- favorite passage

I’m really, really into the opening bit from ch 12 of song. It’s a flashback to later in the night after ch 8 and it was intended to do a bunch of things:

give the chapter a quiet sort of calm before the storm opening. 11 ended on a cliff hanger mid-action and I wanted the have a breather for anyone reading the chapters back to back but also give the final chapter a sort of gravity to it

do some work setting up the final emotional resolution between beth and rio so that would land harder

set the stage for some of what’s about to go down with beth and mia

bookend the chapter (it takes place 3 weeks earlier, the final scene takes place three weeks later)

and also have a friendship beat with beth and ruby bc I love them and their relationship a lot and I’m gonna showcase it (as well as with annie) whenever I can, hahaha

and yeah, idk about y’all but as far as I’m concerned I nailed everything I set out to do with it, and I also really like the tone I captured with it so, yeah. currently v proud of that one.
