I was tagged by spaceships-in-the-club! List 10 books that have stayed with you/had an impact on you in some way, then tag 10 (like that's gonna happen lmao) friends to do the same 1. The night circus. Beautiful, wonderful, rich prose that I can sink into again and again. The most visually stunning book I've ever read. 2. The Moor Child. A book blending a coming of age tale, Fairy lore and the complications of family relationships without cheapening any aspect. 3. The Maxiumum Ride series. I spent years obsessing over these books, and what it would be like to fly. Doesn't get more formative than that. 4. The Guardians of Ga'Hoole. I was probably too old to read these when I started them, but fuck it. Owl slavery! Brainwashing! Canibalism! Owls in armour and weapons engaged in midair battle! Fuck yes! 5. All of terry pratchet, but Carpe Jugulum in particular. That book set the chill into my bones. 6. Most of the Jack Reacher books, and Echo Burning in particular. Fun smart action books, and still my go-to for a weekend away. 7. 1493. A really fascinating look at the first impacts of global connectivity, and it helped me wrap my brain around the interconnectedness of all of history. 8. The Island Of The Blue Dolphins. Beautiful in its simple story telling, this book is about a lone survivor trying to survive on the island her people have lived on for years all alone. I read that book until it fell apart, and I'm still looking for a replacement. 9. World War Z. Haunting as ever loving fuck. Also I got to meet the author at a con, so that was neat. 10. Harry potter. Boring, I know, but a list of formative books wouldn't be complete without it. So there you are! I hope some of you found that interesting at least. Tagged folks below.
