Alexandra Dillon is a Los Angeles surrealist artist who paints characters on brushes and other worn objects.
She uses old pieces that she recycles as a support to her portraits, stimulating her creativity through the shapes of axes, bolts and other choppers.
“In my current work, I paint on worn paintbrushes, many which have been donated by other artists.”
Why paint in a traditional way when you can innovate using any object that comes to hand? This is the subject of the creative project put in place by Alexandra Dillon. This artist enjoys diverting everyday objects to turn them into real faces.
Whether it’s a brush, an ax, a knife or even a padlock, the artist always finds a way to personify these small everyday objects by making a portrait of these unusual media. Alexandra Dillon explains that her art can offer “a soul” to any everyday object to “make it more alive”.
