Are you familiar with Samuel Kim Music on youtube? If not, he creates the most amazing versions of music in Star Wars. There’s this one I listened to just now, Sad Order 66 mix, I think. It’s a mix of Anakin’s Betrayal and I’m So Sorry with the most beautiful and heartbreaking art of Obi and Ani as the song plays out. I just. Wanna cry with someone about it and you seemed like the right person for it lol

I love Samuel Kim! I have several playlists for each of my stories on Spotify and he’s on all of them. For those of you who don’t know he’s a Korean-Canadian film and tv composer and he got pretty well known for specifically the recompisitons he does of the Star Wars soundtracks. If any of you are on tik-tok you’ll recognize several of his pieces,specifically his Star Wars epic main theme that always gets played in peoples videos of going to Galaxy’s edge and making their lightsabers. I am a huge fan of epic orchestra music,the genre is technically called Scorecore,stuff like Two Steps from Hell and Audiomachine. Kim’s compositions take on the Star Wars soundtracks and ratchets them up to that scorecore level and it makes me go absolutely feral. If y’all want to know how much I love this genre of music,just know that I write and work out to it,and it’s my go to for running marathons!

Being a person that listened to the soundtracks of wayyy more movies than I actually watched as a kid, there is nothing that can compare to my confusion in the theatre during the previews before Oppenheimer where this one trailer kept playing little bits of the theme from The Exorcist and my brain was nothing but ?????

I didn't think that was a franchise that had like sequels or anything coming out. Then again, I know nothing about that movie (or movies maybe???) all I remember is learning to play the theme on guitar in like middle school.

Then at the end of the trailer it popped up on screen like The Exorcist: [name of sequel I already forgot]

and all I could think was "OH SHIT THAT'S WHY--WAIT...why is there another one of that?"

It's fun living inside my head.

I don't know really know what scorecore is, but is it really so distinctly different from "soundtrack" that it needs to be separated?

i saw a post that talked about a website called obscurifymusic.com but tumblr crashed (go figure) and i can’t find the original post but i’m sharing what it says about my listening habits anyway and… what the hell even is half this stuff? otacore, scorecore, antiviral pop? god, this is like a self-taught artist discovering warm-up drawings for the first time…
