And you’ve internalized it so deeply that it’s not enough you adapt this punitive mindset within you – you go out and hire a “coach” to do it “to you” -> to also judge you, measure you, shame you, berate you, belittle you, and intimidate you into “diet compliance.” And you call that “coaching.” And in fact – you just get external negative reinforcement for filtering a faulty notion of “success” and “progress” only and solely as it relates to diet-compliance. Being “normal” is surrendered to a punishing notion to be “forced and intimidated to be perfect.” And you also call that “coaching” because it reflects the only familiar thing in your own mind regarding diet and body-image. But what if what you think is the solution is the actual problem? No one can be belittled into sustainable weight-loss – and feel good and healthy about yourself in the process. You end up with this ridiculous punitive mindset – where you don’t diet as a source of empowerment, but as a source of repression, oppression, and punishment. This represents so many flaws in the psyche of the modern dieter –> that it’s not enough to self-shame from the inside-out of your own head – you go out and hire an “expert” to shame you into diet-compliance as well, and to be just as intolerant with you, “screw compassion” – and you both call that “expertise” – and you both call that “progress” as long as you are “perfect” and the scale moves in one desired direction – and neither of you ever address the health or wellness of the mentality and mindset behind it.

Sums up everything I absolutely hate about The Biggest Loser and Jillian Michaels. Anyone who thinks that negativity and a pejorative mindset in a personal trainer is a "good" thing seriously needs to examine some of their deep-rooted issues with dieting, exercise, and weight loss.
