Mrs. President … The Opera … Comes to New York The first woman (among several) to run for president was Victoria Woodhull, whose campaign back in 1872, before women were even allowed to vote, was greeted with nastiness from detractors and the press that rivals ...
This is the story of my adoption, and how it happened.
I hope you’ll like it.
I took a five-day video production course at UBC, in Vancouver. We learned basic Final Cut Pro stuff and some video techniques. I chose this story because I had tight parameters. I had no actors, and not much time. Every morning I got my kids to daycare and day camp, raced to school, then back to pick the kids up. Some things in the video, I'd improve. Having a copy of Final Cut Pro would help. The story is honest, though. It took a few mornings of learning the software; one afternoon of filming; two afternoons of editing. I’m happy with the results, mistakes and all. Corben Winfield produced the music. Jillian Maguire help with some of the filming. Enjoy.
My laptop purrs like a kitten on my lap. I stroke its keys. I search the internet for the one selling my stolen bike.
Today Scott Ramsay
Today
morning,
you’re in the kitchen drinking from a Petri dish
mumbling something about time being of the essence
while your dog at your feet excitedly laps up
what you spill
afternoon,
you’re in the jacuzzi after lunch
with hot dogs floating all around you,
your two fingers point to the sky
and shoot down animal-shaped clouds
until they bleed drops of water
evening,
you’re heading towards an Ethiopian restaurant
with the anchor tattoo on your fist dragging on the ground
with “it’s hard being a teenage vegan” written on your shirt
the letters stretch over the contours of your belly
night,
you’re under the covers holding a flashlight
with the Sears catalogue in the spotlight
and the universe outside the window
slightly folding in like the dimple on the cheek of god
writer,
I am a nurse chasing this childish poem
around the room with a needle
I will sedate it and fix it
reset it like a bone
