So, was doing a meditation and a goddess with long white hair appeared by the river. I'm guessing she's a Scottish goddess because they often appear near rivers from what I've read. Any ideas on who she is?
her breath is the winter that steals your children and livestock away. her shadow casts a death warrant, the chill that crushes bones into shivering dust. her hammer carved out the mountains to be her throne. she makes her home in misery and your despair is fodder for her hearth. mother of gods and goddesses, she knows fear runs deeper than love, knows cold burns fiercer than fire. a one-eyed giantess, she laughs at beauty, spits upon it. her hair is old snow, her skin is blistering blue, her teeth are the colour of rust. what need has she for beauty? this goddess of eternal decay.
Scottish Mythology: Beira, Goddess of Winter // L.H
(WOMEN FROM MYTHOLOGY) - BEIRA
“ Beira was a one-eyed giantess with white hair, dark blue skin, and rust-coloured teeth. She built the mountains of Scotland using a magic hammer, and Loch Ness was created when Beira transformed her negligent maid Nessa into a river, which broke loose and made the loch. Ben Nevis was her mountain throne “
NICNEVIN: SCOTTISH GODDESS OF SAMNHAIN
“In modern practice Nicnevin is believed to ride out on The Wild Hunt at Samhuinn Eve as The Queen of Elphame with her spirits and mysterious creatures, whereas others say her sacred days are 9th and 11th November. Yule or Midwinter is also said to be sacred to her. Nicnevin can be called upon for aid in otherworldly travel, communicating with spirits, protection at night, and pretty much everything within the domain of witchcraft. “
