An early morning walk around the historic Dumfries town centre in the south of Scotland - what a lovely and underrated place to visit! We weren't there for very long but are looking forward to going back during the summer - lovely walk along the river! 😀 Hope you enjoy!
Good Morning from Scotland
The Meat Cleaver by Captures.in.time Via Flickr: The rock formation to the left is locally known as the Meat Cleaver which is fairly obvious to know why based on it's shape. This is taken from the top of the cliff. There is arguably a better composition if you take the path down to the headland in the centre of the picture you can see. The initial decent to that is very steep and with my current injured knee I felt would have been a silly move when here on my own at 1030pm at night. The better composition is a tricky one however as if you go too low the cleaver cuts the horizon which I personally dont like.

This #Roman Bucket was last used over 1,870 years ago. It was found in an incredible state of preservation at #Trimontium, in the #ScottishBorders. It provides a good example of the staves technique used by Roman carpenters. The oak staves are held together by iron hoops. Often asked about how Intarsia and Handflat knitting machines are powered and how it affects the environment? Well unlike the latest computerised knitting machinery like Shimas or Stoll etc. Apart from a strip light virtually Zero, recorded the first piece of knitting local top end quality velvet hall alpaca yarn to show the stitch close up and the power behind the machine. Yes pure muscle power, videos only 30 seconds but knitters did this for min 8 hour shift and often 12 hour or in my case much longer. Proud of being one of the last of the highly skilled handcrafted knitters of Innerleithen, #InnerleithenTheRealHomeOfBallantyne #tradition #intarsia #scotland #innerleithen #cashmere #makeitbritish #knitting #makeitscottish #makeitbritishlive #ballantynecrazyyank #scottishborders #tweedvalley #hwtextiles #kilt #outlander #outdoorheavyknitwear #ethical #sustainable #velvethallalpacas #eastangliaalpacamill #sustainablefashion #sustainabledesign https://www.instagram.com/p/Bmqj8YfnIs9/?igshid=aj9m9qsexn2
