trembling fingers card through sweat slick hair,  out of his drooping eyes,  eyelids fluttering closed for a moment even as a light grin crawls onto his face.  “  that’s a bit of an exaggeration,  don’t you think?  ”  ‘  pushing it too far  ’?  —  granted,  maybe so,  but  ‘  almost dead  ’?  debatable,  mind’s eye flashing back to the glint of the mugger’s knife before it slipped from gloved hands,  dark shape disappearing out of sight as he tried to calm the graying woman down from her frantic breathing  &  fear-glazed eyes like some sort of wannabe vigilante on a far too empty stomach.

okay,  maybe  ‘  almost dead  ’  is a semi-applicable way to put it,  as the blade had swung at him a good few times before he’d managed to knock it away,  but still,  nothing a good few breathing exercises  &  a full night’s sleep can’t fix,  just adrenaline coursing through firecracker veins,  leftovers that keep his limbs jittering with his heartbeat despite the exchange having long since passed  —  at least twenty minutes or so ago.

still,  he sags a little on an exhale  &  makes sure to look the other boy in the eye before he amends.  “  look,  i’m fine;  a little worked up,  maybe,  but  —  all in one piece.  ”

His father denying the supernatural. Especially because Stiles was trying to protect him and others at the time, and his dad has always listened to him, no matter how crazy the idea. 

Close behind is

Scott walking away from him after their fight. For Scott to literally turn his back on him when Stiles needed him, when he was literally begging Scott to say he believed him... They made up, but it’s a betrayal Stiles won’t forgot...
