Finally made a rough ref page for these bastards. It’s rough and there’s some mistakes (couldn’t fix sky’s lineart, spyro’s suspenders are crossed in the front when I meant them to be crossed in the back) but it’s good enough for me. Also completely ignore the heights in here- each merc has their same canon heights, the au is just a class swap, nothing more.

Please don’t mind the quality though- I don’t intend for this to look fantastic or anything jgkdflgjdf but yeah, these 5 always have a poker night on friday evenings. The other 4 sometimes joins in, but are usually doing their own thing.

Aight, first order of business: Im giving all the mercs a hug. No, you cannot run away or stop me, come get yalls hugs.

The reactions: Scould: Happily returns the hug, gives a small pat on your back as you two hug. His hugs feels like he’s seeing an old friend for the first time in years. Mulder: He takes it as a challenge to hug harder. His hugs feel like it’ll make your lungs explode. He can fix that though, thankfully. Spyro: Happily returns the hug. Tight like a child hugging their parent. Demoneer:  Gives a one arm hug much like Demoman hugged Soldier in the WAR! comic. Feels how you’d expect- like a drunk man hugging his friend while shouting out an order for another bear. Demy: Great big bear hugs. A little too tight for comfort, but not enough to hurt. Feels like someone hugging another that almost died but turned out okay in the end. Sneer: A half-hearted hug with small pats on the back. Feels like two friends saying goodbye knowing they’ll see each other tomorrow. Havoc: Punches you in the gut and laughs. If you’re lucky enough to get a return hug it’s extremely clingy and tight with his nails digging into you. It feels like a friend hugging another knowing they’ll never meet again. Piper: A happy hug that’s light, but tight enough to feel welcoming. Feels like a hug you give a family member you love when you see them after a good while. Sky: Much like Sneer’s, however a hard pat on the shoulder after the hug is always present. Feels like a dad trying to console their son that’s sucking at baseball.

oK this is gonna sound rlly weird maybe but is there any details on the swap!mercs that you didnt include? I dont wanna say /why/ i want this bc its a surprise but 👀

Ah it’s a bit hard to say stuff when I’m unsure what you’re looking for haha but - Although Spyro’s more sadistic/mature than normal Pyro they do tend to do childish things still. Their room is the biggest example of this with countless plushies and colorful artworks on the walls. They do, however, tend to make more...”abstract” artworks. Think Layers of Fear vibes - Almost all of Demy’s knowledge has been from reading and working in a factory for a good portion of his life. He’s fluent in writing English, although speaking it is still hard for him. He’s actually written a couple books about science! He wrote them through a pen name. - Sneer is still a very, very smart man. Growing up with his father kind of forced him to be. Although he hasn’t gotten 11 PHDs he’s still extremely smart and uses his knowledge for great positioning and, frankly, knowing physics tends to help when you’re trying to fire huntsman arrows. Well, strategically anyway. - Scould has stolen at least 3 arcade machines after being kicked out of various places for trying to do the “coin on a string” trick when playing them. He also has a claw machine, all within his room. - Mulder will go fucking nuts if you call him a nurse, because “that’s a profession for pansies!” Even though he isn’t a doctor either. - Demoneer never actually invented his arsenal, but modified it heavily for the battlefield. He took Dell’s father’s blueprints and reversed engineer them and modified them. Without him they wouldn’t be as portable as they are or upgradable. - Sky actually was a spy, but changed careers due to a failed mission that he refuses to talk about. He just says it wasn’t important. - Piper had developed asthma from when he rode the rocket as a baby and crash landing! - Havoc actually has Demy’s published books but doesn’t know he’s the author! He finds them to be genuinely insightful and helps in the scientific field.

Yes you can name urselves lmao, glad you really enjoy the au! Hmm.. Well: - Mulder’s grenades are just his normal grenades but with a crude cross painted on. - Spyro’s suspenders cross in the back (I drew the cross in front of Spyro in the ref like a dumbass) - Spyro’s mask changes with their emotions, though that’s more like the “changing the eyes on the pyro mask to show emotion” bit. - Havoc paints his nails black sometimes, just because. Spyro usually does them. - Piper’s clothes tend to get really dirty. Usually the ends of his sleeves and his knees are covered in soot and dirt like 24/7 - In those little pockets on Demoneer? Yeah they’re filled with tiny bottles of alcohol. It’s impractical but he likes to bring samples everywhere. - Havoc’s boots actually have tiny spikes underneath them! I didn’t draw that in the og ref. - Sky’s still wearing his black gloves. I accidentally drew him with Scout’s wraps instead in the ref. - Sneer carries a normal rope on his right side like Engineer usually does! It’s not shown in the ref because of the pose. - Spyro’s actually wearing a mask similar to Spy’s under their normal mask. The only difference is that theirs is black and not team colored. - Scould’s weapon sling,,thing is much bigger. I didn’t account the whole rocket launcher part when drawing it. At least I assume that’s what that sling’s for- - Mulder’s always wearing bandaids, even if he’s not hurt. They’re always those bright neon/patterned ones, too. He thinks they’re distractions on the battlefield and give him an advantage. In reality he just thinks it’s fun. - Sneer has a little Sheriff’s badge pin on the inside of his vest. Question anon, got a few more lmao: Does piper have jarate still? Or did Sneer take that? | Does the van belong to Piper or Sneer? | Do the weapons change any? Like, does Demoneer have different turrets, or does Piper use a different/long range flame thrower? | Do the gravel wars get changed to Sand wars? | Does Zephaniah Mann get changed or is he still the spiteful dude he was when he was alive? | Does Scould still nyoom or did the nyoom gene skip over Scould and stayed with Sky?

Does Piper have jarate or Sneer? Sneer has the jarate, however a skin of the gas passer comes in jar form!

Does the van belong to Piper or Sneer? Piper has the van! However Sneer has a pick up truck that’s always parked right next to it. Do the weapons change at all? Fundamentally, no! They all behave the same, but minor differences (like looks- or, again, skins) happen. For ex. Piper’s backburner has the head of a croc at the end instead of its normal face! Are the gravel wars the sand wars? No, since the gravel wars exist because of the land being called the gravel pits, so nope! Does Zeph Mann get changed? Nope, mostly since he isn’t a major character “on-screen”. If I were to bother changing him it’d just be the Mann Mother being the one to leave the will. Does Scould still nyoom or did Sky hog it? Sky has all the nyoom class-wise! Scould is, however, much more energetic and spry than his father. The only reason Sky can go so fast is because of the radiation.

Who are the other charas swapped with?

Graymann and Admin switch roles. Pauling and Bidwell switch roles. Saxton and Darling switch roles. Maggie and Zhanna switch roles. Other characters aren’t switched since anyone else is minor (like the mayor or pilot)

Does Scould still simp?

Yes, 100%. It’s worse because he sees her even less, since she and Bidwell switched places.

Did havoc steal the souls or Mulder?

Mulder did it accidentally, but less to do with medicine and science and moreso because he and Merasmus were still roommates. 

Does Piper react to being from New Zealand?

Oh, definitely! He’s mostly confused at first but once he realizes how..well, his birth parents are he’s furious. If the others weren’t there he probably would’ve attacked his father for asking for money. 

How did Demoneer lose his eye?

How’s Merasmus?

Merasmus is perfect in every single way and I refuse to switch him. I love this bastard wizard. Frankly I don’t think it’d be fun to switch him anyway- no one else has his vibes. Who knows? He might even be the one behind this switching and wasn't affected.
