𝒜𝒩➤ Hey everyone… I haven’t been feeling the best this week, so that’s why I’ve been a bit quiet and haven’t posted in a while. But I did manage to finish this fic! It’s not my best work, but I’m still really glad I got it done. This was still really fun to write, though! I seriously need more Scourge content in my life 😭 so thank you for this awesome idea 🖤

“Pathetic.”
The word snapped through the alley like a gunshot.
Scourge leaned against the brick wall with his usual lazy arrogance, arms crossed, boot tapping against the pavement. But the tension in his shoulders betrayed him.
Across from him stood Fiona.
Her arms were folded, saphire eyes narrowed with pure disgust.
“You used to be terrifying,”
she continued, voice dripping venom.
“Now you’re just a washed-up thug pretending you still run the streets.”
Scourge scoffed, rolling his eyes.
“Please, you loved this ‘washed-up thug’ a few months ago.”
“Yeah,”
she shot back.
“Before I realized you’re all bark and no bite.”
That one hit deeper than he wanted to admit.
He pushed off the wall, stepping closer, green quills bristling slightly.
“Careful, Doll face. You’re starting to sound like you wanna get hit.”
Fiona laughed.
Actually laughed.
“See? That’s exactly it,”
she said, shaking her head.
“You won’t hit me. Because you’re weak.”
Silence hung between them.
For a moment, Scourge thought about proving her wrong.
But instead, he just clicked his tongue and looked away.
Fiona watched him, unimpressed.
“Yeah,”
she sighed.
“That’s what I thought.”
She turned, walking away without another glance.
“Oh, and Scourge?”
she added over her shoulder.
He didn’t look at her.
“We’re done. For good."
Her footsteps faded down the alley.
Scourge stood there a long time after she was gone.
Eventually, he muttered under his breath.
“…Whatever.”
But it didn’t sound convincing.
/
A Few Weeks Later
Scourge had been walking for nearly an hour.
No destination. No plan. Just moving.
The city buzzed around him. He barely noticed any of it.
His hands were shoved deep into the pockets of his leather jacket, boots scraping lazily against the sidewalk.
Fiona’s voice still rattled around in his head sometimes: pathetic.
“Tch,” he muttered.
Like her opinion mattered. Still… The insult had stuck.
Scourge turned a corner. And that’s when it happened.
Thud!
“O-oh my gosh!”
Something slammed into him. Hot liquid splashed across his chest.
Scourge froze. Slowly, he looked down. Coffee dripped down the front of his black leather jacket.
Silence.
Then he lifted his gaze.
You stood there clutching an empty coffee cup, eyes wide with horror.
“I’m so sorry!!”
Scourge stared at you.
“…You just assaulted my jacket.”
“Oh no-” you gasped, already pulling napkins from your bag.
“I didn’t mean to!” You tried dabbing at the stain.
Scourge watched you for a moment before sighing.
“…You know that’s not helping, right?”
You froze.
Embarrassment spread across your face.
“I’m really sorry,”
you said quickly.
“Is there anything I can-”
Scourge cut you off with a smirk. “Yeah.”
You blinked.
“You owe me a meal.”
You stared at him. “A… meal?”
He gestured lazily toward his coffee-soaked jacket.
“Pretty sure this counts as damages.”
You hesitated for a second. Then you laughed softly.
“That seems fair.”
Scourge raised an eyebrow, amused that you didn’t argue.
“There’s a burger joint right down the street,” you said.
“I could buy you something there.”
He leaned a little closer, studying you. “You always this nice to random strangers?”
You tilted your head.
“Well… I try to be..”
Scourge barked a laugh.
Your smile returned. Warm and easy.
“…You got a name?” he asked.
You told him.
He nodded once. “Scourge.”
Your eyes brightened. “Nice to meet you, Scourge.”
He jerked his thumb down the street. “Alright then,”
he said.
“Lead the way.”
You smiled and started toward the burger place. Scourge followed a step behind, hands back in his pockets.
/
Once you two got there, you ordered your meals and sat in one of the booths.
For a moment, neither of you said anything.
Scourge leaned back against the seat, one arm slung over the backrest, watching you unwrap your burger.
“You always this clumsy?” he asked.
You looked up.
“Hey! That was one time.”
“One very expensive time,” he said, gesturing vaguely toward his jacket.
You giggled.
“I said I was sorry.”
He smirked slightly and took a bite of his burger.
For a while the conversation stayed light.
Scourge mostly listened for once.
Occasionally throwing in a sarcastic comment.
But he was paying attention.
You were… nice.
Not the fake kind of nice people used when they wanted something.
Just… kind.
You asked him questions too.
Nothing nosy.
Just simple things like...
“Do you live around here?”
“What do you usually do during the day?”
“What kind of music do you like?”
Scourge answered most of them with short replies, but you didn’t seem bothered by it.
You just kept smiling and talking like the conversation was easy.
Like he wasn’t someone people usually avoided.
That’s what confused him.
He studied you across the table while you spoke, resting his chin in his hand.
You seemed… normal.
Sweet.
Someone who clearly had her life together.
Someone stable.
Which made absolutely no sense.
Because guys like him didn’t end up sitting in burger joints with girls like you.
You should’ve been annoyed with him by now.
Or uncomfortable.
Instead, you were laughing at something he’d just said.
Scourge frowned slightly, looking down at his drink.
What the hell am I doing here?
He shouldn’t be interested in someone like you.
You were the type of person who probably planned things out. Made smart choices. Stayed away from trouble.
He was the trouble.
And yet…
When he looked up and saw you smiling at him again, something in his chest did that weird little flip.
Scourge clicked his tongue quietly and leaned back in the booth.
Yeah… this is a bad idea..
/
Scourge didn’t plan on seeing you again.
That’s what he told himself when he left the burger joint that day.
Just a random accident.
A free meal.
Nothing more...
Except a few days later, he saw you again.
It was at a small street market downtown. Music drifted from a nearby speaker, people wandered between booths selling random junk, handmade crafts, and cheap food.
Scourge wasn’t really paying attention to any of it.
Until he spotted you.
You were standing at a stall looking at some little glass trinkets, holding one up to the sunlight with a curious smile.
Scourge slowed to a stop.
“…You again?”
he called.
You turned.
And your face immediately brightened.
“Scourge!”
Like you were genuinely happy to see him.
That weird feeling hit his chest again.
“What, you following me now?” he teased.
You laughed.
“I was about to ask you the same thing.”
He walked over, hands in his jacket pockets.
“So what are you doing here?”
“Just walking around,” you said, holding up the little glass charm you’d been looking at. “I like markets like this.”
Scourge glanced at the stall.
“Looks like a bunch of useless junk.”
You smiled.
“Maybe.”
Then you held the charm toward him.
“But some of it’s pretty.”
He rolled his eyes.
"It's just a piece of glass.”
“Wow, You’re really good at ruining the moment.”
Scourge smirked.
“Yeah, I get that a lot.”
Still…
He stayed there talking with you longer than he meant to.
/
After that, running into you started happening more often.
Sometimes it was at random places.
A music event downtown.
A late-night food stand.
A small party someone dragged him to.
And every time, you’d appear somewhere in the crowd like it was the most natural thing in the world.
“Scourge!”
Always that same bright smile.
Always that same easy warmth.
The first few times, he acted like it was no big deal.
Leaning against walls. Teasing you. Pretending he wasn’t paying attention.
But he noticed things.
Like how you always seemed genuinely interested in whatever he was saying.
Or how you laughed at his sarcastic comments instead of getting annoyed.
Or how you never looked scared of him.
That one confused him the most.
One night at a crowded party, you found him leaning against the balcony railing.
“You look bored,” you said.
Scourge glanced at you.
“I am bored.”
You stepped beside him, looking out over the city lights.
“So why are you here?”
He shrugged.“Free drinks.”
You giggled.
“Fair enough.”
For a moment you both stood there quietly.
Then he looked at you from the corner of his eye.
“You show up to a lot of the same places I do,” he said.
You shrugged lightly.
“Maybe we just have similar taste.”
“Doubt it.”
You bumped his shoulder playfully.
“You’re impossible.”
He smirked.
“And you keep talking to me anyway.”
You smiled. “Yeah. I do.”
Something about the way you said it made his chest feel weird again.
/
Weeks passed.
The “random” meetings slowly stopped feeling random.
Sometimes he’d text you.
Sometimes you’d message him first.
'Hey, I’m at this event downtown. You should come.'
And somehow, he always did.
It turned into late-night walks.
Sharing food from street vendors.
Sitting on park benches talking about absolutely nothing.
Scourge found himself laughing more around you.
Which was concerning.
Very concerning.
Because you were the exact opposite of everything he usually liked.
You were kind.
Patient.
Sweet.
Someone who clearly had her life together.
And he was…
Well.
Scourge.
Chaotic.
Reckless.
Trouble.
One night you were sitting together on a park bench, the same one where you’d ended up after another random outing.
You were talking about something.
He honestly wasn’t listening.
He was too busy watching the way you smiled when you spoke.
What the hell is wrong with me? he thought.
He shouldn’t feel like this.
Not toward someone like you.
You deserved someone normal.
Someone stable.
Not a guy who started fights and thrived on chaos.
Yet somehow…
Here he was.
Still sitting beside you.
Still wanting to see you again tomorrow.
And the day after that.
And maybe the day after that too.
Scourge leaned back against the bench with a quiet sigh.
“Y’know,” he muttered.
You looked at him.
“Hm?”
He studied you for a moment.
“…I still don’t get why you like hanging out with me.”
You blinked.
Then smiled softly.
“Because I like you.”
The answer came so easily it caught him off guard.
Scourge stared at you for a moment.
Then he looked away quickly, scratching the back of his neck.
“…Yeah,” he muttered.
That weird feeling in his chest came back again.
And this time…
He didn’t try to ignore it.
/
Weeks turned into months before Scourge realized something had changed.
At first it was small things.
He stopped picking fights as often.
He actually showed up when he said he would.
And before he knew it, you guys started dating.
Which meant people started talking.
One night he was leaning against a wall outside a club with a couple of guys he occasionally hangs out with when one of them snorted.
“Man… you’ve gone soft.”
Scourge’s head snapped toward him.
“The hell did you just say?”
The guy shrugged, clearly amused.
“I’m just saying. Ever since you started dating that girl, you’re different.”
Another one chimed in.
“You used to start fights for fun. Now you leave early to meet her.”
Scourge scoffed.
“Yeah, because you idiots are boring.”
“Sure,” the first guy said with a grin. “Whatever helps you sleep at night.”
Scourge rolled his eyes and pushed off the wall.
“I ain’t soft,” he muttered.
But the comment followed him.
And unfortunately…
It wasn’t the last time he heard it.
People said it at parties. At events.
Even random idiots in the streets started joking about it.
Scourge got a new girlfriend and turned into a sweetheart.
Every time someone said it, he snapped back.
Every. Single. Time.
“I’m not soft,” he’d growl.
You always just laughed.
Which somehow annoyed him more.
/
A few nights later you convinced him to go to an underground party.
Music pulsed through the building the second you stepped inside. Neon lights flickered across the crowd, and the whole place smelled like smoke and cheap alcohol.
Scourge had an arm loosely around your waist as you moved through the room.
“You having fun yet?” you asked.
He glanced around.
“Ask me again after a few drinks.”
You giggled.
He liked that sound more than he wanted to admit.
The two of you made your way toward the bar.
That’s when a familiar voice cut through the noise.
“Well… well.”
Scourge froze.
He turned slowly.
Fiona stood a few feet away, arms crossed, that same sharp smirk on her face.
“Look what we have here,” she said.
Your hand tightened slightly on Scourge’s arm.
“You know her?” you asked quietly.
Scourge’s jaw tightened.
“Unfortunately.”
Fiona stepped closer, eyes sliding over the two of you.
“So it’s true,”
she said.
“You actually got a new girlfriend.”
Scourge rolled his eyes.
“Yeah. Shocking, right?”
Her gaze moved to you.
You gave a polite smile.
“Nice to meet you.”
Fiona ignored it completely.
Instead she looked back at Scourge.
“You’ve become even more pathetic.”
Scourge sighed.
“Not this again.”
“Oh no, I’m serious,”
Fiona said with fake concern.
“You gotten even more soft.”
Scourge felt his temper rising.
“Say what you wanna say and get lost.”
Fiona leaned closer, voice dripping with mock pity.
“She’s made you weak.”
The words hung in the air.
Scourge’s eyes narrowed.
“You don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Fiona laughed.
“Oh please. Everyone sees it.”
Your grip on his arm tightened.
“That’s enough,” you said calmly.
Fiona finally looked at you properly.
“Oh? The girlfriend speaks.”
“You don’t get to insult him like that,”
you said.
Fiona’s smirk widened.
Before anyone could react-
SMACK
The sound cracked through the music.
Fiona had slapped you across the face.
Scourge saw red.
His fist clenched instantly as he stepped forward.
“You-”
But your hand caught his arm.
“Scourge.”
He looked at you.
You were holding your cheek… but you didn’t look upset.
In fact…
You looked strangely calm.
“It’s alright,” you said softly.
Scourge blinked.
“…What?”
Then something changed.
Your posture straightened slightly.
The sweetness in your expression faded.
And when you looked back at Fiona…
Your smile was different.
Sharp.
Fiona frowned.
“What are you smiling about?”
You slowly cracked your knuckles.
“You shouldn’t have done that.”
Before Fiona could respond-
You moved.
Fast.
Your foot swept out, knocking her legs from under her before she could react. She hit the floor with a startled yell.
The crowd around you immediately backed up.
Fiona scrambled to stand, furious.
“You-!”
You grabbed her arm and flipped her back onto the floor again.
This time harder.
A collective 'oooh' rippled through the crowd.
Scourge just stood there.
Watching.
Blinking.
Because the sweet girl he knew had just taken down Fiona like it was nothing.
Fiona tried to swing at you.
You dodged easily and shoved her back again.
“Next time,” you said coolly, “keep your hands to yourself.”
Fiona glared at you from the floor, humiliated and furious.
Then she scrambled up and stormed out of the party, shoving through the crowd.
The room buzzed with whispers.
You brushed your hands together casually and turned back to Scourge.
Your sweet smile returned like nothing had happened.
“You okay?”
Scourge stared at you for a long moment.
Then a slow grin spread across his face.
“…whoa,” he said.
He pulled you closer, clearly impressed.
“I didn't think you had it in you to do something like that.”
You tilted your head and smiled widely
"There's a lot you don't know about me."
You wink.
Scourge chuckled.
"You're full of surprises. I love it."
