KISC Life
Well, I certainly intended to update Tumblr more often then I have... but life here is so busy!
Our working hours are theoretically 8am-12pm and 2pm-6pm (or 5:30pm now that summer has started). But realistically, being a long term staff, you hang around until all the work that needs to be done is done. Tonight that was 7pm, and lunch wasn't until 12:30pm.
Once the working day is done the socialising time begins... every night there are drinks happening somewhere, someone is organising a movie night, another group is going to the pool or sports... there's always something going on to join in on.
Days of the week mean nothing here. With everyone having different days off, and rarely having 2 days off in a row, the days just blend into each other. The only difference is that most shops aren't open on Sundays. But given we work during the shop's opening hours every other day it really makes no difference.
Days off can be just as busy or busier than working days. In the last three weeks I've been to Bern, done the Lotchenpass, been to Ocninensee three times, hiked around Sunnbuel, Gasterntal and Gurnigal, eaten fondue and rosti, gone white water rafting... there is so much to do and experience here!
The international mix here is amazing. You are constantly learning some small little fact about one country or another, being exposed to a new way of perceiving the world. It's a wonderfully eye-opening experience.
While this post has been rambling, I hope it helps to provide some insight into the 'magic of KISC'. Everyone should come here. Really. Pack your bags. Now.
See you soon!
