Finally got around to decorating the cover of my new scrapbook. I made the entire book myself, spine, cover and all. 💜

Dark Academia Library
Whiskers twitch and shadows fall,
By the power of the black cat’s call,
Ancient tomes and pages old,
Reveal your secrets, tales untold.
With paws as swift as inky night,
Guide my hand and grant me sight,
To read the lore both dark and bright,
By candle’s glow and moon’s pale light.
Books of wisdom, spells anew,
Come forth now, your magic true,
With the black cat as my guide,
Knowledge flows, none to hide.
Chaos Potato 🥔 Scrap Art
I haven’t done this in a while, a long while, actually. It was long overdue, though. Both, the process of making a piece of mad art with only a vague idea of which direction I wanted it to go, and the reminder itself.
So, here I am with a visual reminder to help me drink more water. My shopping list, which I bluetacked to the kitchen cabinet no longer reminds me what’s missing in my fridge (only everything, I might as well unplug that darn thing and save on electricity charges!), but does a splendid job of reminding me to take my meds. When I actually look at it. :) I jest, I do remember and the note helps, especially when my schedule changes. I also forgot my badge for work once and promptly stuck a note above my living room light switch to remember. Honestly, you could argue I am getting forgetful, but really, being at work without a badge is a pain and not taking my meds is unhealthy.
I am rambling. All of the above (bar the photo) had very little to do with today’s piece of artwork. I initially filmed it to perhaps create a TikTok but CapCut drove me nuts, so it’ll be a basic photo post (because I’m an 80s dragon and impatience is a thing!). So, here’s my very colourful reminder to drink more water. I obviously had to add some silly statements (they’re very true though!) and a theme that is colourful and thus entirely unrelated to the topic at hand. Not that it matters, the message is there and it’s bold and sort of bright (listen, all the colours make up for the writing being in black and I will accept no other explanation!).
I’m not sure if I nailed the statement on colourful language just yet but the note on stupidity is definitely true. Naturally, I’ve added cats, dragons, wolves, and books because all those are distractions that stop me from drinking enough water. And, just so you know it, the bats are trans and again, I will not be argued with.
Dad Jules @julcheninred , as always, you’re getting an honorary tag. I do hope the avalanche of colours isn’t too much of an eye sore! <3 Hey, look, an old school heart! :))
It’s been a serious while since I did a scrapbook spread I’m actually proud to show you. Tonight was about self-care, self-healing and giving two sweet characters a winter lover story.
Psst, @julcheninred I’m back with more mischief 💜
P.S. I made this for a fandom friend who isn’t on Tumblr but they have received a photo of the artwork and I think they’re happy… 😊
Well, I’m not entirely sure about any of these. Somehow, I feel too exhausted to be creative—be that with actual paper and visually pleasing images or with virtual pen and paper—which is thoroughly odd. The only thing I’m sure about with the below paper art is that I spent time on it… As for the rest, well, I don’t know.
This was meant to be part of a bigger cosy feel piece of art, but I eventually decided on something small and tiny.
This I do like because I got to play around with a new type of texturing which was quite messy but fun and then I’ve got dragons and a cosy fireplace and well, I’m having a hard time tossing it onto the big discard pile…
Lastly, well, I don’t know, I’ll just leave it here. I don’t know what I was after…
The words are my own though. Below is a bigger photo for easy reading…
The last 24 hours have been terrifying. Never ever thought riots on the streets of Dublin would be something I’d ever have to worry about. Need to occupy myself with chaos potato 🥔 type happiness and Taylor’s “August”. Here’s a little teaser of something I’m working on… I’m actually trying to inject a modicum of planning…
A brown (pardon me, burnt sienna) acrylic paint wall is drying on another sheet of paper. I guess this is as far as I can take this project tonight. May return to my sofa.
I’ll let you make up your own minds about which definition applies. 🤓 Hey @julcheninred — I assure you tonight’s planning will absolutely go out of the window tomorrow…
Most of my recent scrapbooking endeavours ended in pure chaos, far more chaos than this chaos potato 🥔 can bear. Essentially, I started out with less than a half-baked plan (which is my default approach to scrapbook art) and went straight into ruining the entire piece.
Tonight’s scrap page is simple, but meaningful. The questions aren’t meant to give you a headache and you aren’t supposed to wrangle an answer from the depth of your mind, rather you are meant to sit with the question and let its message change you slowly but surely.
Many many years ago a friend shared a link with questions that are designed to free your mind. There are fifty of them in total. Every now and then I return to them and read them. Some resonate more than others, some have made an impact, some continue to elude me, and others I dare not approach.
I picked a random six to incorporate in my scrap page and they feel just right. Maybe they’ll do something for you too.
Edit: Hey @julcheninred , I very nearly forgot to tag you. Actually, I did forget, hence the edit.
chaos potato 🥔 scrapbooking…
It’s not finished…but I need to know what to stuff into the six little pockets I made. I thought little papers with winter quotes, but not sure… liking what I have so far though!
@julcheninred Jules, surely you have ideas?!
