I've been sick the last couple of weeks, so I haven't felt like writing anything. I'll try and make up for that now.
Last Monday (the 23rd), I felt well enough to game again. It was good to be back. From what I hear, the week we missed was great. There were a couple of new folks there and Jo. brought along some big round tower thing that looked neat. To be honest, I had no interest in playing it. It looked like a war type of thing with area control stuff. Not my favorite thing to play. But I'm sure the group would have made it fun.
Monday we kicked off the day with Scrap Racer. It's a push-your-luck racing game.
Players chuck dice and move along a track. You roll one die at a time and if you roll a duplicate of any number you crash. Crashing isn't all bad. If you crash three times you get a power up that will give you a huge boost on a later turn.
It was quick, random, and pretty fun.
I forgot to take pictures of the second game we played. It was the Epic Spell Wars deckbuilding game. We only got through a few rounds, so I didn't get to see what sorts of crazy combos the game contains. The artwork was irreverent and childish and made us all giggle like middle schoolers. I look forward to trying again.
Lastly, we played Parks with J.
I liked this a lot more with another person. It's fine with 2, but it really got interesting when more hikers crowded the trails. Thematically, this is the opposite of what you want, but it makes for a more challenging game, so I guess it's OK. I really like this game. It's relaxing, nice to look at, and relatively easy to teach.
It was good to be back. Even missing one week is too much. Next week I have my first therapy appointment in the morning before we game. I hope it doesn't wear me out too much. I don't know what to expect. I know that I'll definitely be looking forward to games afterwards.
