Look, growing up in a family of Pinks, Reds, Fellow Travelers, and Catholic Leftists, the general vibe was always that Democrats are...sometimes the best we can do until we get to something further Left. The idea that you 'Scratch a Liberal and find a Fascist' was not something that was spread around, and I think it's misinformed rather than malicious. It's a catchphrase in times that depend entirely on soundbites. This phrase really only applies to those Liberals in politics at an elected level. Yeah, there you are likely to find someone warped by power (either party, and even honestly some folks in the Left when they get elected in anywhere) into something that has forgotten whatever values it once had and put a lust for more power and profit in the place where a bleeding heart once rested. Scratch a liberal (lowercase) and you will find someone who is Really Goddamn Wrong about half the time...but then the other half of the time you might share some broad common ground with them. Work from that common ground, even though it takes Fucking Time. Yeah, they should see the shit going on around them and realize on their fucking own that shit is bad and needs to be changed by more radical means then sitting in a legislative body voting on kickbacks for each other and manipulation of corn futures based on imports of soy from Finland (famous for its soy, of course), or whatever it is they do in those big halls of fucking government besides saying it is in fact a good idea to firebomb kids in a given country that Good People never go to anyway (I don't think it's much). Instead, when you scratch a liberal, see that you might be digging away out of the rough and uncertain rock of liberalism, towards the granite of a comrade. That said, this doesn't always work. Sometimes you really do scratch a liberal and realize wait the deeper I go the more this reeks of fascism and eeeeew what's this leaking out here, oh it's full-blown racism and white supremacy and what the hell you voted for Ron Paul you fucking shitbag? So, it's...a mixed bag, I guess.

the same tumblr users that would post about “anime communists” in 2012 are still doing that haha, many of the lovely transgender and homosexual people on this website are extremely conservative in regards to sex, decriminalization of prostitution and informed consent hormone replacement therapy, let alone hormone replacement therapy for minors but god let a trans woman or a femboy or a sissy mention their disgusting fetish (being called a little boy and raped hypothetically) and the long knives are drawn!

it always ticks off liberals' Leftist Infighting© detectors when I refer to Democrats as blue fash/blue maga, but then I hear liberals say shit like "trump derangement syndrome" or "they voted red I hole the hurricane destroys that state" or really just being extremely ableist but "it's okay because they're republicans!"

Seeing liberals go mask off fascist is amazing, like I knew that if libs lost the the mask of lite progressivism would shatter but wow the amount of blatant racism,Islamophobia and scapegoating to find any reason to not admit that people are fed up with their failing ideology.

Like saying shit like "I hope gaza gets turned into a parking lot" and "I hope you latinos get deported" like girl, shit like that is one of the various reasons that millions of people decide not to vote, the other being that in the words of Bernie Sanders: "It should come as no great surprise that a Democratic Party which has abandoned working class people would find that the working class has abandoned them".

which him saying that caused libs to get really, really mad cause he said the most obvious shit in the world, especially with the Dems moving farther to the right, like if I was voting and my choice is republican and nice republican it's not hard to see why people didn't vote even if you disagree with not voting.

Then there is all the blue anon shit that's happening which makes me unreasonably happy like seeing libs go full stop the steal was not on my bingo sheet in a democrat loss, racist scapegoating yes, saying republicans stole the election no.

but overall this whole thing has been amazing testament to a time honored tradition of people with brains which is to never trust a liberal, so i'll leave you with a Malcolm x quote which while old is somehow still prescient (Strangely like most things he says, interesting?)

The difference between the right celebrating death and the left celebrating death is that the right celebrates the death of minorities solely because they are minorities, and the left celebrates the death of oppressors because of the choices they made in life. If there is reason to hate someone bc of their choices, then there is no "right way" to react to that person's death. Your emotions are your emotions. Idrgaf how you are processing this death as long as you aren't taking a supposed moral "high ground" by telling others to mourn a fascist.
