Itās always ālet people create what they wantā and ālet people enjoy thingsā when I know damn well a black creator wouldnāt be able to get away with half of the bullshit white creatives shill out
Look me in the eye and tell me that if a black female creative released something as terrible as the finished product of Hazbin Hotel or half of the weird ass questionable storylines of Miraculous Ladybug, sheād be met with the undying praise and unlimited excuses their creators get. Like for literally every one criticism they get they have 800 more defenders.
Our projects are either ignored because itās ānot someoneās thingā (not white enough) or theyāre over analyzed so that people can say āSee itās actually garbage and you shouldnt support it or give it a chanceā and then they get dragged through the mud because for some reason weāre held to the highest standard there is unless weāre actively shitting on our own people, criticizing our own people, or putting on minstrel shows.
The closest a black creative has ever gotten to shilling out bad projects and still being relatively okay is Tyler Perry, which, he knew that black entertainment was lacking and needed a change and took advantage of that so of course black people flocked to support him and didnāt realize until too late āYeah no maybe these are trashā and now heās gotten to the point that Netflix just throws money at him to make whatever he wants which is just movies about black women suffering through all seven circles of hell so again.
So no Iām not going to ālet people enjoy thingsā until black people are allowed to be given a chance without being straight up ignored or overly criticized or decentered in our own media for the white fandom fav. Iām not letting people enjoy things until the playing field is even.
