Okay, here goes for my favourite phoenix.
favorite thing about them:
I like that he seems to be really laidback and easygoing with a good sense of humour. It’s just as well for me that I didn’t read too many Marco fics before I started writing him, cos’ it’s not how he’s usually perceived. Haha.
least favorite thing about them:
There is nothing not to like about Marco. He’s fab. Guess I would have preferred for Oda to make his age a little closer in age to the Worst Generation (so we can all feel good about our shipping likes), but it makes sense that he is the age he is, and a mighty fine 45 year old he is too.
Maybe the one chapter 992. Ah, it’s pretty important, I think, so I won’t spoil it for you. Just to say, I think it gives a nice insight and confirmation of the kind of relationship the Whitebeard Pirates had with Whitebeard.

Marco and the various members of the WB crew, I have Marco and Robin, and Marco and Zoro getting along in my fics, cos’ they’re good friends with Law. In my fics, he’s closest with Izou and Vista, but I wrote them before I knew that much about them. From canon we can absolutely see he’s good friends with Izou, Neko and Inu, and a whole bunch of characters you haven’t met yet, so exploration of that time of his life leading into the present is interesting.
Oh, of course I like a platonic Marco and Law as well as as a ship. Three Doctor Fics and art is cool too, so throw Chopper in there as well.
OTP:
MarLaw...haha. Yeah, I like it as a ship. Two smart, collected, intelligent and sexy men with sharp senses of humour. Blame the fanartists, like I said on my character thing for Law.
Ace is usually canonically not alive in my MarLaw fics, so there’s usually background MarAce. It’s not my OTP, but there’s background LawLu for Law too. People have pasts. Neither ship is treated disrespectfully.
Anyone’s fine with Marco, actually. He’s magical, but I also think he’s a bit of an everyman.
nOTP: I don’t have one for Marco.
I think this is actually canon, but all of the characters who can transport characters physically—Luffy, Law, Marco—don’t give a rat’s arse about their passenger’s comfort. This is seen by
—how badly everyone travels and lands when Luffy lassos them,
—how Law lands on top of his travel companion (Caesar) during Green Bit, and Sanji lands ingloriously on the deck. Law’s okay though.
—when he’s transporting everyone on Zou, nearly everyone ends up tits over arse except for him. I think Robin remains steady.
—Marco unceremoniously dumps his travel companion in Wano (lands on his head). I won’t let you know who it is, though you’ll find out if you go through my blog, and tells him to quit complaining.
I think it all ties into my fic, Devil Fruit Drivers, actually. :-) So I’ll just self-promo here 😁
Not unpopular, but I think fandom might be glossing over the fact that Marco states in chapter 909 (sorry) that his regenerating power only has a small effect on others. I mean, he was the WB doctor and all, so I’m sure he heals with more than his powers, but there is a limit to the healing capabilities of them.
I also think Oda said in an SBS there was a limit to how much he could regenerate and heal himself. Of course it’s fun to run with the healing stuff though. I have him and Law working in conjunction with their powers, and I’ve seen others utilise his powers in really beautiful ways in some fics.
