FoxQuin Week Day 1 - Shovel Talk
Good Afternoon/Morning/Evening/Night!
Here for your reading pleasure is day 1 of FoxQuin Week! I decided to be extra (and hate myself) and work in both the quote prompt and the writing prompt because why not :D
So this one is Fox's Batch Giving Quinlan the Shovel Talk and "What do you mean you're married?" (@foxquinweek )
It is a little over 1k so enjoy :D
Quinlan is having a rather odd day.
It started with Commander Wolffe trying to corner him in the halls of the Temple, it continued with Commander Ponds staring at him during the council meeting he was asked to, and it kept up with Commander Cody trying to get his attention in the mess hall.
Now, when Quinlan was trying to spend some quality time with his padawan, that may or may not include some recreational murder, Commander Bly kept swerving the conversation around to Fox.
That’s when the dots started to connect.
“Why exactly do you keep bringing Commander Fox up, Bly? Is there something you want to know?”
Aayla’s head perked up, looking at Quinlan and Bly with her wide eyes, smelling gossip no doubt. Bly stuttered through some word vomit before caving and muttering “never mind”.
They didn’t get to their recreational murder, but Quinlan had a great time making Bly uncomfortable with random mentions of what Fox and him get up to in their spare time. Without specifically saying Fox’s name.
It was quite fun.
Odd, but fun.
As the day passed, the Commanders tried more and more interesting ways to corner him. It didn’t work because, one, Quinlan grew up here and knew every hiding place, and two, he was a kriffing Shadow. If they wanted to corner him they’d have to get up to Fox’s level.
But, all good things had to come to an end, and it ended with Quinlan sitting at the Jedi Commissary with Captain Rex sitting across from him…cleaning his blaster while pointedly staring at Quinlan.
Not subtle, this lot.
Quinlan smirked at the blond captain and kept eating his food like he didn’t have a single care in the world.
Which he didn’t, because Fox’s batch’s approval meant nothing to him.
Fox’s opinion was the only opinion when it came to their relationship.
Soon enough, every single Commander that tried to corner him today was on Rex’s side of the table, staring Quinlan down, their Jedi were sitting on Quinlan’s side radiating concern.
Considering the only beings that knew about him and Fox were Tholme and Aayla that was fair.
“So…Jedi Master Quinlan Vos.” Wolffe started and Quinlan chuckled at the concerned sounds coming from Plo.
“So, Commander Wolffe.” Quinlan was nothing if not an asshole.
The one eyed commander glared at him with his one good eye, likely hoping Quinlan would spontaneously burst into flame if he glared hard enough.
Jokes on him, though, Quinlan has been glared at harsher by worse.
“Let’s just cut the chase, what are your intentions with our kih’vod, Vos?” Cody cut in on the staring contest.
Quinlan chuckled at several Jedi Councilors choking on their food.
He leaned back in his chair, smirking happily at the group of angry vode glaring at him.
“I’m sorry, I don’t know who you mean.” Quinlan shrugged and kept eating, moving his attention to his wrist comm and the message from Fox on it.
The Hot (definitely) One: please ignore my batchers
Thorn told them
he’s being properly punished
The Smart (allegedly) One: lol
no worries, babe
this is kriffing hilarious
The Hot (definitely) One: you have an odd sense of humor
are you in the Temple?
The Smart (allegedly) One: commissary
The Hot (definitely) One: be right there
Quinlan smiled and returned to his food, smiling at Wolffe who was ignoring his food in favor of stabbing it menacingly.
Hex definitely did it better.
(Fox’s batchers attempting a compactor talk was infinitely amusing. More so when one considers the fact that no one could possibly be scarier than the CMO of the Guard, and Hex had cornered Quinlan seconds after he convinced Fox to give them a chance.
That man was terrifying.
Quinlan was convinced the war would be over if they just set the Guard CMO on the Separatist Senate.)
“We know you know who Fox is, General.” Ponds finally piped up. Good for him.
“Oh I definitely know Fox. What does that have to do with your kih’vod?” Quinlan was definitely being a shit right now. He was entitled.
Wolffe slammed his fists onto the table top, rattling the dishes and startling everyone not involved in this conflict.
“Stop being obtuse, Vos. What are your intentions with Fox?” Wolffe hissed out, Bly placing a placating hand on his shoulder and muttering under his breath about tempers.
Quinlan rested his cheek on his fist and hummed.
“My intentions are between Fox and I, Commander.” He couldn’t help but purr out, tempted to see how worked up he could get the batch before they caved and started threatening him outright.
Wolffe let out a strangled scream and made to launch across the table at Quinlan, only to be held back by Bly and Cody and slammed back into his seat.
“Fox is a grown vod, he can make his own decisions. But Vos, if you hurt him…well…” Rex trailed off and started putting his blaster together with emphasized movements.
Quinlan couldn’t help but laugh.
“Your compactor talk is so cute, Commanders, Captain. But CMO Hex already beat you to it. And ARC Captain Lex, Lieutenant Tina, Commander Thorn, Stone and Thire, even Sargent Apex. His was the funniest honestly.” Quinlan chuckled, remembering the scarred Sargent nonchalantly assembling a bomb while telling Quinlan all the things Fox has done for him and his batch.
It was almost the opposite of a compactor talk, actually.
The Commanders blinked in unison before their brows furrowed and their lips pursed.
Not his fault Fox’s batch weren’t up to date with the Guard personnel.
“Who is Fox?” Obi-wan was looking at Quinlan with his kicked tooka eyes and he vaguely felt bad for not telling his best friend about Fox, but also…things have been happening pretty fast.
He opened his mouth to answer, honestly for once, but a gloved hand slid around his neck and lightly tilted his chin up and Quinlan smiled as Fox pressed a chaste kiss to his lips.
Fox’s answering smile was stunning.
“Me’vaar ti gar, riduur?” Fox asked against his lips, pulling back just far enough for Quinlan to have space to answer.
“Naas, ner riduur.” Quinlan responded before snaking his hand into Fox’s lovely locks to pull him in for another kiss.
Idly he heard the clattering of glassware and a strangled scream.
Quinlan looked over at their audience, smirking when Fox brushed his lips against his cheek while burying his face into Quinlan’s shoulders.
Everyone seemed to speak or shout at once and it echoed into the commissary, Fox’s shoulders shaking as his laugh echoed Quinlan’s.
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU’RE MARRIED?!”
FoxQuin Week Day 2: Chronic Pain
Good Afternoon/Morning/Evening/Night!
I am BLOWN AWAY by the response to my day 1 fic! Thank you all so much for your lovely tags and enjoyment of my fic, I can't wait to see what you all think of this one!
Again, I did both quote and writing prompt.
Day 2: Chronic Pain/"Unfortunately, General, I would need to be a sentient being for that"
I hope you enjoy :D
--
Fox was convinced that the Kaminiise were full of osik.
They touted their own genius and the complexity of their products and straight up lied when talking about the Clones inability to be hindered by common ailments of the regular humanoid.
What a load of poodoo.
Tell that to the marching vode in his head that were doing their best to march right onto the couch he was currently laying on.
Lying crates of osik.
Hex had been trying to find a solution to the migraines since he replaced Chit as CMO and no cocktail of drugs has been able to even dull the chronic marching of vode. It was unbearable.
But Fox had been going through it long enough, he could power through if he had to, but he didn’t have to right now. Hence his prone position on his ugly but comfortably couch.
Good couch. Friendly couch.
“Wow. You look like shit, Foxy.”
Fox didn’t even twitch the arm thrown over his eyes, just groaned at the familiar voice of the constant pain in his shebs.
“That was crass, even for you, Vos.”
“Meh. I’m a shadow, babe, I can use outer rim curses if I want to.”
Firm hands in soft leatheris gloves carefully moved Fox until his head was laying on wonderfully plush thighs and Fox sighed and pushed into the lap he was now on.
Quinlan’s hands carefully framed Fox’s face and slowly started to heat up, using his Force osik to do his best to ease Fox’s pain.
It was hit or miss whether or not it would work and Fox dearly hoped that this was going to be one of the times it worked.
“I wish you could take a sick day or something like that for the days when the pain is this bad, Foxy. It doesn’t seem right that you just have to push through.”
Fox snorted as the pounding in his head started to subtly subside, enough to be background pain instead of the pain that demanded to be focused on.
“Unfortunately, General, I would need to be a sentient being for that. Did you know we don’t even have work week caps? If the Chancellor wants us to work one hundred twenty hours in a week then one hundred twenty hours we work.”
Quinlan scoffed.
“You and I both know you’re sentient. If only the Senate would get their collective heads out of their shebs maybe we could get your migraines worked out.”
“HA. And the Guard likes to call me a dreamer.”
Quinlan chuckled and carefully started sliding his fingers through Fox’s hair, making delightfully soft soothing circles into his scalp.
The Jedi clearly missed his calling as a masseuse.
“Come to the Temple medbay with me?” Quinlan spoke into his forehead, lips touching skin with every syllable. Fox shivered.
“You think they can find something that Hex couldn’t?”
“Bring Hex too. He can tell Che everything he tried. Maybe she’ll have other options. I hate seeing you like this.”
“Mmm. Next time. I just want to stay here a little longer.”
“Of course, Foxy.”
Quinlan gave him a chaste kiss before continuing his ministrations in Fox’s hair and humming lightly under his breath.
It was a good way to suffer through a migraine.
FoxQuin Week Day 6: Time Travel
Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening/Night!
It's here! My favorite fic of the week!!
I honestly had the bestest time writing this one, it was stuck in my head for AGES and I just needed an excuse to write it! Featuring Jaster Mereel, Kal Skirata, Feemor, and MORE!
I really hope you all like it <3 It is a bit of a read clocking in at almost 3.9k words!
Day 6: Time Travel/"Please refrain from kissing the commander while he is on duty, in front of a senator, or a shiny" @foxquinweek
--
“I have to be honest, this is definitely the weirdest osik to happen to me in my life.” Jaster kriffing Mereel, the Prime’s buir, laughed around the fire him and his ori’ramikad made. It was similar to watching his vode when it came down to competence.
Cody laughed along with him.
“Imagine how we’re feeling! One second we’re boots on the ground in the shebs end of the galaxy and next thing we know we’re in the middle of a Mandalorian civil war.”
There were toasts and mild roasting amongst the vode and the Haat Mando’ade and Cody thought for once it seemed like there was something out there looking out for the Vode.
“I’m simply curious as to what seems to be the criteria for platoons being pulled into the past.” Obi-wan hummed and took a sip of his shig, eyes lighting up at the flavor. That was Cody’s Jedi for you.
“Oh I am as well, Jetii. For the most part it seems almost random. You say you were all separated in your time correct?” Mereel leaned in, the same spark in his eyes that graced the General’s when they found a particularly old temple ruin.
Cody sighed as the two started talking a little beyond his comprehension and looked around at the gathered Platoons.
It wasn’t as many as he wanted, but more still were appearing.
Wolfe and his pack, their Jedi, Koon, Bly and his squad of commandos with their Jedi (whom Bly was guarding from interested Mando’s like he was being paid to), Ponds and his lot and, of course, High General Windu, Faie and his closet vode with the spy Vos (who Obi-wan was close to??), Mundi and Bacara and their ilk, Neyo and his Jedi that Cody really didn’t know the name of, Rex and his maniacs plus little Tano, and a few other brothers with their Jedi that Cody couldn’t see and therefore couldn’t name.
Wait a second.
“I think it has something to do with Jedi, General.” Cody piped up, effectively cutting off Mereel mid-sentence. Whoops.
Several Jedi and their commanders seemed to hear him, otherwise they were all convening on the fire for some other reason. Doubtful.
“Well, I mean, the Force, or the Manda, would have to be involved somehow, there’s no technology I’m aware of that could do this.” Obi-wan looked confused and it was definitely a good look on him. Not that Cody was looking. No sir.
Cody shook his head.
“No, General, I mean that it seems it’s only a Jedi and their assigned platoons that are showing up. I know for a fact the 327th is larger than just twenty troops yet that’s all there are, including Bly. And only the Ghost Squadron is here, and not even all of it. It’s just the vode that work the closest with their Jedi and said Jedi.”
Several heads were nodding around the circle, and Bacara gave him an assessing stare, judging Cody for every word that escaped his lips, before nodding slightly.
Always nice when the Marine backs you up.
“What about the rest of the vode? Is it just going to be the lucky shebs’palon’e that get to come back to a less fraught time?” Ponds frowned, Windu flinching like something was smacking him in the head repeatedly.
“Less fraught?” Kal kriffing Skirate asked, settling next to Mereel too close to be just friendly. Not something Cody would have guessed about Prime’s buir. “We’re in the middle of a system wide Civil War, how is that less fraught?”
Several Commanders couldn’t hold back giggles or chuckles at the question. A system wide civil war. Copikla.
“Well we came from a Galactic Wide Civil War, so yes, less fraught.” Secura snarked. Nice to know that there was a good reason that Bly was boots over buy’ce for her.
“Alright, let’s all stop saying fraught.” Mereel mediated, smiling at the vod who decided to take their buckets off, not even flinching at the face of his ad mirrored in several older beings.
Spine of beskar this one.
There was peaceful murmuring for a while as Cody’s Jedi started to ruminate over his first statement, sipping at his shig every few seconds. The Haat’ade delighting in conversations with various vode about their best battle stories, sharing shig and rations like it was second nature.
The baby Prime was no where to be seen.
Likely trying to hide from his future decision to make millions of children only to abandon them all and declare them non-sentient.
Hard truths.
The cheerful mood was split by Ponds suddenly gasping and looking to Cody with wide eyes. He cocked his head.
“If it’s only vode with Jedi then are we ever going to see Fox’ika again?”
Osik.
Fox was their batch baby and has been a pain to get in contact with since he was docketed as Marshal Commander for the Coruscant Guard. A battalion well known for not having a Jedi because it wasn’t as strenuous a posting as frontline ones.
Kriff if Cody wasn’t regretting feeling happy that their batch baby was going to be safe on Coruscant when the deployments came. Now it meant that he might never see his littlest kih’vod again.
Mereel perked up.
“Fox’ika? An ad?”
Cody shook his head, Ponds, Bly, and Wolffe echoing him.
“Our batch baby. He was the last decanted in our batch so he’s our youngest. Assigned to be the Marshall Commander of the Coruscant Guard.” But kriff if Cody still wasn’t proud of that posting. Three Marshall Commanders in one batch, unheard of.
“The Guard famously doesn’t have a Jetii Commander.” Neyo piped up, grinning wickedly at Wolffe who snapped his teeth at the scout. Those two would never get over their tubie rivalry it seemed.
Obi-wan cocked his head.
“They don’t?” Several Generals echoed his confusion with sounds of their own, looking to their commanders with wide eyes.
“They’re flimsi pushers. Datapad handlers. They don’t need a Jedi for osik like that.” Faie scoffed and if Cody didn’t secretly agree with them then he’d take their head off himself for belittling his vod’ika like that.
It was an important posting.
Even if there was no fighting to be had.
A few of the Haat scoffed at the idea of such a responsibility, not shocking for a culture built around battle and victory.
Mereel just looked concerned.
The rest of Cody’s batch just looked sad.
“Did someone mention the Guard?” Vos popped up into the circle like a particularly stubborn weed, and several Haat’ade jerked in surprise at his appearance. Cody and his vode were not immune to the surprise, either, if the small jumps and dropped jaws said anything.
Faie rolled their whole head as they rolled their eyes.
“We don’t have time for your obsession with the flimsi pushers, General.” They scoffed.
Obi-wan looked at Vos like the Kiffar had grown extra limbs.
“Obsession with the Guard? Quinlan what in the Force?”
It was Vos’ turn to roll his eyes as he settled in between Obi-wan and Secura, shuffling his shebs to make room. Shabuir.
“Commander Faie is being facetious, Obes. I have a perfectly natural interest in the Guard and the image that the rest of the Vode seem to have of them.” Vos sounded relatively normal as he spoke, but he was shooting daggers at Faie the whole time.
Said vod looked shocked at the Mando’a coming out of his General’s mouth.
Not unheard of that some vode don’t feel comfortable sharing the little bit of culture they coveted with tooth and nail with their Jedi. Seems like Faie was one of them.
That brings the question: where did Vos learn it? Especially the preference they had for being called vode.
“Image? The kriff does that mean?” Wolffe growled, lunging for Vos only to be held back by the careful clutch of claws from his Jedi. Good being, that Koon.
“Just that, Commander. When I’ve been in my post as a General with Commander Faie, all I’ve ever heard about the Guard is that they’re flimsi pushers, datapad handlers, wouldn’t know how to handle a blaster with a step-by-step manual. It’s all very rude, honestly. Not my experience at all.” Vos shrugged, looking to Obi-wan with a particular glint in his eye that Cody didn’t like.
“Your experience?” Cody’s General asked, raising a single brow at his friend(?).
Vos opened his mouth, finger firmly in the air, when he was cut off by a shout from across the plains they were camping in.
“JASTER!”
Heads popped up from around the camp, various troopers and commandos in various state of undress looking with wide eyes at the Mando in blue shouting at the Mand’alor.
“Tor?” Mereel voiced to himself, very confused.
“What does that shabuir want?” Kal kriffing Skirata hissed, glaring at the other Mando with a gaze that could kill. “Kriffing Kyr’stad.”
Several vod perked up, looking at the offending Mando with squinted eyes and cocked heads. More blue-clad Mandos started to file up behind this Tor character.
“HOW DARE YOU GET AN ARMY OF JETII INVOLVED IN OUR WAR!”
“An army of Jedi?” Koon muttered, voice lilting slightly as he looked at Wolffe slightly.
“News to me.” Wolffe shrugged, several other Jedi murmuring their agreements.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about Tor!”
It was as Jaster spoke that the first figure clad in a long brown robe appeared on the plains between the Haat’ade camp and the offending Kyr’stad.
“JASTER!”
It was like a signal, and several more figures joined the first, almost a head shorter than them, but all dressed in vaguely Jedi-esque robes, covering them from top to bottom.
Cody couldn’t tell their species considering the robes.
Idly, he noticed that Vos had perked up even more than he had when talking about the Guard. (The kriff was that about?)
“YOU JETIISE HAVE BEEN ATTACK MY CAMPS FOR WEEKS NOW! PREPARE TO FACE ME HEAD ON!” Tor yelled, pointing a lightsaber hilt at the hundreds of robe-clad figured.
It was a signal.
Several thousand Mandos started storming towards the hundreds of beings masking themselves as Jedi and Mereel and Cody’s Jedi made concerned noises.
“We were wondering who was taking pot shots at Tor the past few weeks.” Kal muttered.
Mereel noticed the vode and Jedi’s confusion and elaborated a bit.
“For the last two weeks or so every Kyr’tsad camp we got info on was already hit before we got there. It was uncanny their speed considering no one was there by the time we did.”
The Robed Ones didn’t even twitch at the army of Mandos running at them.
“I didn’t even know there were that many Kyr’tsad for Viszla to call on. Myles grumbled, carefully readying his pistols for the blaster fight that was about the break out. No way hundreds could take on thousands.
Several vode nodded and started shelling up when Vos chuckled, still relaxing in his place around the fire. What a cocky shabuir.
“Master?” Secura questioned, taking her ques from him instead of her troopers.
“Don’t worry, Aayla. I just enjoy watching some beings being forced to eat their words.”
Almost as if planned, as soon as Vos finished talking, music started to reverberate the air, starting low and rising in volume in rhythmic pounding beats.
The Kyr’tsad faltered as every single robed figure, except the first, spread their legs and braced carefully.
An eerie lilting voice started low vocalizations in the music as the tallest figure nodded their head, flexing their hands slightly.
Both figures next to them flourished their hands and blades appeared in them, just in time for the taller to pull his arms back and push them. Very similarly to how Skywalker liked to fling his troopers through the air.
Just the same, the two were flying through the air with more grace than Torrent ever managed, robes flying off to reveal colorful civilian clothing completely different from each other, but both with matching metal masks, not a lick of armor between them.
They landed onto of Kyr’tsad soldiers and downed them in seconds.
It was then the tallest figure started flinging their counterparts in waves, several wielding blades of some sort, some with blasters, and others with nothing but their hands coated in thick gloves.
Cody watched, entranced, as the smaller group decimated the larger, Kyr’tsad falling like bogflies left and right to viciously competent verde.
One memorable take down consisted of a red clad verd kicking the helmet clean off a Kyr’tsad Mando for one of their companions to shoot them in the head.
After the entire army (and it was obviously an army, though maybe not of Jedi) was launched, the larger figure jumped the distance in a single bound, right into a gathering of Kyr’tsad without his verde, and pushed them all out very much like a Jedi.
Within what felt like minutes, the Kyr’tsad force was down to a quarter of what they started with, and they were clearly nervous. Their leader fuming in the back.
It became obvious why when the herd was thinned out a little more.
The same red-clad verd from earlier was single handedly taking out scores of Kyr’tsad with their bare hands.
“YOU!” Tor yelled, “I CHALLENGE YOU TO A DUEL OF SINGLE COMBAT!” he pointed his lightsaber hilt at the verd and ignited it.
The Haat’ade all took a sharp breath.
“The dha’kad.” Was whispered by enough Mandos that Cody took it to mean that it was important somehow. Wonderful.
“We only thought that dar’manda sleemo had it, now he confirms it.” Mereel sucked a breath between his teeth as the battlefield stopped.
Red lifted their head to the Kyr’tsad Alor and nodded decisively, the rest of the masked verde slamming their fists to their chests in a salute eerily similar to the Vode.
Red’s verde formed a long circle around them, pushing back the blue Mandos with glee to make a pathway for Tor to make his way to his challenge.
The larger, still clad in their robe, leaned down to talk quietly with Red, gesturing to something along their back before nodding and joining the circle.
As soon as Tor was inside the circle it closed behind him, still the music played from overhead, always something with a marching beat.
Cody looked up and spotted another masked verd up in one of the few trees on the plain. (He was never gladder that they were up on a hill and could easily make out the actions inside the ring.)
Tor spat at the feet of Red, glaring and putting his helmet on without turning off the lightsaber that he was wielding (badly it seems).
“You have a lightsaber.” Red’s voice was soft but it carried, niggling in Cody’s ear like he recognized it from somewhere he couldn’t place. It did sound awfully familiar.
“It’s the dha’kad, you insolent whelp.” Tor spat, vocoder doing little to hide the sneer in his voice. “Until death is how challenges for this kad generally go. So be good and die quietly.”
That was one angry Mando.
The masked verde didn’t even shift at the threat to their leader.
“Mandokarla.” Someone whispered from behind Cody and he couldn’t help but nod along. Those verde had some serious gett’se.
“Funny.” Red remarked, voice just as plain as it was earlier. “I agree.”
The masked ones saluted again, their reverberating sound changing the music into a loud chant with rhythmic pounding as Tor launched himself at Red. They dodged.
It carried on the same way for the next minute, possibly two, when Tor screamed and lunged again.
“FIGHT BACK, YOU HUT’UUN!” he screamed.
“Alright.” Red responded, and with the next swing of the dha’kad, the verd didn’t move, but with a very familiar swish there was a green lightsaber stopping the black laser sword.
Tor was visibly taken aback, even from as far away as Cody was.
“YOU-!”
Red pushed Tor back before reaching behind themselves and lighting up another ‘saber, this one a bright turquoise and twirled them both, a clear showing that they knew what they were doing and weren’t just mindlessly swinging a laser sword and hoping to achieve something. Coughcough Tor coughcough.
Maybe this one actually was a Jedi.
Or at least had training from one, their ‘saber work was impressively similar to Jedi katas.
It almost looked like Red was playing with the Mando, dodging, parrying, and deflecting, but not taking a single swing with either lightsaber.
“YOU-”
Tor over extended himself and with a swift kick, Red had knocked the dha’kad out of his hand and caught it with his own.
The Kyr’tsad leader was frozen.
With smooth movements, every ‘saber was extinguished and disappeared and an ordinary blaster was pulled and placed underneath Tor’s chin, primed and ready.
“You won’t do it. Shabla hut’uun-” he was cut off as Red pulled the trigger and the bolt sliced through the sparse covering and bounced around in the beskar buy’ce as Tor’s body fell to the ground.
The rest of Death Watch started running off.
A few members of the masked force took off after them, felling them all in swift takedowns and cleverly placed blaster bolts or flourished blades.
“What in the absolute haran?” Kal kriffing Skirata spoke and the rest of the camp was silent, in various states of dress, still.
Then Rex’s maniacs broke the stunned silence.
“Cyare!!”
Fives and Echo took off out the camp, heading for one of the masked verde, tackling them without slowing down an iota.
The mask was removed swiftly and Echo was enthusiastically kissing the revealed face while Fives was babbling excitedly, pausing every now and then to place a chaste kiss on waiting lips.
Wait a second.
Is that?
“I knew you’d show up here, baby.” Vos drawled out, sauntering his way down the hill towards the verd with the dha’kad. Obi-wan made a noise in the back of his throat, reaching out for his batchmate with one hand and holding his lightsaber in his other.
“Thanks for the loan, cyar’ika.” Red spoke, handing over one of the ‘sabers they battled with to Vos, looking up slightly to meet eyes with the Jedi.
Vos ignored the proffered ‘saberto move aside the mask with one hand, his other wrapping around Red’s waist to pull them flush to his body.
In a smooth movement he had captured the other’s lips, pulling them tighter and moving the hand not wrapped around a tapered waist into salt and pepper red hair.
The kiss deepened, and even as far away as Cody was now he could see flashes of tongue and silver metal as they both sank into the kiss, ignoring the Haat’ade who were staring at them, gob smacked.
Cody was certain that they might have gotten a little hot and heavy, had the tall figure in robes not cleared their throat pointedly.
Vos retreated from the verd, but not without a pointed lick at their reddened lower lip. Then he looked up at the other figure with a smile that wouldn’t melt butter, the shabuir.
Before the taller could speak, another verd the same size as Red popped up and jammed a gloved finger into Vos’ chest, growling under his breath.
This caused Vos to raise his hands and start to actually look contrite.
“What are the fucking rules, Vos?” (Cody tried not to flinch at the blatant use of Outer Rim swears, but he doesn’t think he was successful.)
“Come on, Hex, this is extenuating circumstances, surely.”
“What are the fucking rules, Quinlan Vos?” The verd repeated, stabbing into Vos’ chest again. Going by the flinch of the Jedi it was a forceful stab. Not that the shabuir didn’t deserve it, but Cody winced in sympathy.
Vos seemed to deflate.
“Let me start you off, please refrain…”
“From kissing the commander while he is on duty.”
“And?” A stab.
“In front of a senator.”
“And?” Another stab.
“Or in front of a shiny.”
“And you?” Stab.
“Did two of the three.”
“You’re on thin fucking ice, Quinlan Vos.” The verd growled before they were pulled away by two others, feeling them up like they thought that was the hottest thing they had ever seen. (They were almost like vode in that way. Competence kinks, the lot of them.)
The tallest chuckled and Vos stared up at them with a kicked tooka expression.
“Don’t look at me like that, Quinlan, you deserved that. You were told the rules several times.”
“But this is an exception, Fee! It’s not every day you’re sent back into the past and your celo becomes Mand’alor!”
“I did what?!” The verd shouted, turning to Vos with a dropped jaw and looking down at the dha’kad like it killed their entire batch. Ouch.
“Babe. Please.”
“No. I fucking refuse, give it to Cody.” Red threw the ‘kad at Vos and growled when the Jedi threw it back. Wait. Why do they know Cody’s name?
“Pretty sure it can only be exchanged through trial by combat, hon, and we both know you’d wipe the floor with Cody if he challenged you.” Rude.
Hold on a second.
“Fox’ika?”
Cody’s batchers jerked to stare at him with wide eyes, but suddenly, with perfect clarity, Cody knew he was right.
The verd looked up to them and took off their mask. And sure enough, Fox’s mismatched eyes and red hair were clearly seen by all.
Cody didn’t even really care that his kih’vod was officially Mand’alor now. That was his baby batcher, and he’d be damned if he was going to let Quinlan kriffing Vos be that close to him.
His batch was right behind him as they hurried down the hill, piling on to Fox and pushing Vos out of the way.
The tall one caught him so it’s not like he was hurt.
“Thanks, Fee.”
“I don’t think your Commander’s batchmates like you very much, Quinlan.”
“That’s fine. As long as Foxy likes me then there opinions don’t really matter, do they?”
‘Fee’ hummed in response.
After Cody felt like Fox was appropriately smothered, he pulled back, looking him over for any extreme changes since he last saw him.
Apparently that was all Vos needed to slither back in and wrap his arms around Fox’s waist like he was welcome there whenever he wanted to be.
Cody glared at the Jedi even as Fox leaned into Vos’ grasp and kissed the Kiffar on the cheek with a twinkle in his eye that Cody hasn’t seen since Fox was a cadet.
Shabuir.
When Cody and his batch rushed down, so too did the rest of their camp and Cody was graced with a pinched look on Faie’s face like he bit into a sour jogan fruit.
And even though he also needed to figure out just how he felt about watching Fox fight with two lightsabers like a trained Jedi and became Mand’alor, mostly Cody was just glad his batch was complete.
“So how often have you kissed in front of senators and shinies that one of your vod have specific rules about it?”
Force dammit Wolffe.
FoxQuin Week Day 5: Fox Kills the Chancellor
Good Afternoon/Morning/Evening/Night!
This is probably my favorite right behind day 6! I had a good time writing a little glance into an AU :D
I've gone ahead and queued up days 6 and 7 on Tumblr, the ao3 version will be out on Monday along with the official update for TOUCHED <3
Day 5: Fox kills the Chancellor/"The Guard doesn't have a Jedi" @foxquinweek
Enjoy :D
--
“How is this supposed to work, exactly? No one ever set up any rules about how the clones would be tried in a court of law.” Plo Koon questioned with a heavy sigh, his Commander placing a soothing hand on his shoulder, glaring at the small holo of a vod in a cell.
“That would be because clones aren’t people, General. We get decommissioned, not tried.” Commander Thorn of the Coruscant Guard stated blandly enough that every councilor in the room jerked with shock.
“The Jedi Council put a stop to decommissioning, Commander.” Obi-wan spoke carefully, watching the three remaining Commanders of the Coruscant Guard, each standing perfectly straight in parade rest, helmets facing forward. They didn’t even move when someone addressed them.
“Sure, for the GAR.” Commander Thire added.
The Councilors shared uneasy looks.
“No…for all troopers, Thire.” Mace Windu’s Commander spoke even slower, enunciating his words very carefully.
“Maybe you should check that again, Commander. The Guard and the GAR are two separate organizations.” The final commander, Commander Stone, added, speaking just as slowly as Ponds had.
Silence echoed in the chamber while Depa Billaba was frantically scrolling on a datapad.
“While Depa looks for the order. In military tribunals the trooper’s Jedi normally speaks for them.” Mace Windu groaned, messaging his temples with both hands.
“The Guard doesn’t have a Jedi.” The three Guard commanders spoke in unison, the room freezing once more and devolving into silence.
“The Guard doesn’t have a Jedi…what?” Adi Gallia stuttered.
If the Guard Commanders weren’t wearing helmets then their raised brows would have been seen, as it was, every councilmember felt it.
“We had to have assigned a Jedi to the Coruscant Guard, how else were you getting supplies?” Even Piell grumbled.
“You’d have to ask Commander Fox that, sir. He was the one in charge of the Guard.” Thorn responded, all three of them moving their heads to stare at the holo of said vod in a small jail cell.
There was no movement from the holo, considering it was muted, but there were some mumbles and murmurs.
A gasp from Depa Billaba cut them all off.
“What is it, Depa?” Mace spat out, his eyes clenched shut and managing deep heaving breaths between words. Several councilors looked at him in concern, before turning to give Depa their attention as she cleared her throat.
“In the original mandate for the Galactic Army of the Republic it does state that the Coruscant Guard will here on to be considered a separate entity run by the choice of the Chancellor…and no Jedi is listed as being in charge of them…”
“Easy way to answer our questions, there is. Commander Fox, we must ask.” Yoda smacked his gimmer stick on the floor and gestured to Stass Allie to change the holo of said commander to allow for communication.
Yoda cleared his throat and it was picked up by the unmuted mic because Commander Fox’s head snapped to the holorecorder with impressive accuracy.
Obi-wan made a noise of approval and all three Guard Commanders seemed to vibrate out of their skins.
“Greetings, Commander. Under better circumstances, I wish this was.”
Fox cocked his head to the side before spreading his lips to bare his teeth in the barest facsimile of a grin, highlighting a particularly gruesome scar that cut through his face, from top of the forehead through the right eye, over the cheek bone, and into the tight blacks.
There were some minor shuffles of discomfort from the council, but the sight seemed to make the Guard Commanders vibrate even more, somehow.
“What better circumstances could there be, High General Yoda?” His voice was a rasp and with every movement a flash of silver was seen between his lips.
“Assassinating the Chancellor, accused, you are.” Yoda quirked his own brow and frowned when Fox’s vicious grin only widened.
“Accused? Oh that’s not right at all, General. I am not a sentient being, I cannot be accused of anything. In fact, you could argue I could no more break the law than a particularly nice chair.”
Obi-wan choked on air while a few councilors shifted to hide their signs of distress.
“Commander, this is serious. You are accused of assassinating the Chancellor of the Republic, and with no Jedi to represent you in front of a tribunal, you are unlikely to get a fair hearing.” Mace spoke very clearly, despite the furrow of his brow and the sweat beading along it.
Commander Fox snorted.
“A few things I should mention, High General Windu. First, assassination would imply that it was premeditated or planed, this was nothing more than a killing of opportunity. Second, I am a clone, I do not have rights, I am not considered sentient, I was never going to get a fair hearing. And lastly…” the holo shook violently and an ear splitting screech emanated from the projector.
The councilors flinched at the sound, but the three Guard Commanders started bouncing on the tips of their toes, looking for all intents and purposes like they were going to take off running at any moment.
Slowly the sound died down, the councilors all looking at the holo with wide eyes, as the shaking subsided to show a second being in the frame.
Tall, dark locs flowing down their back, Jedi-like robes frayed at the ends, lit lightsaber in one hand and the other outstretched to the still sitting Commander (smiling more softly at the new being with a light in their eye that suddenly made sense).
Fox took the hand gently, the Jedi(?) pulling him into their side with a smooth motion and kissing him soundly on the lips.
Obi-wan let out a strangled gurgle of noise, several GAR Commanders tensing as the being pulled away with a soft lick to Fox’s top lip before grinning up at the holorecorder.
“Quinlan Vos what have you done?” Plo Koon muttered under his breath, softly enough that the microphone couldn’t pick it up.
“I don’t plan to go in front of a tribunal at all.” Fox closed his eyes and sighed as Jedi Master Quinlan Vos bowed to the holorecorder before slicing through it with his lightsaber, flashing his warm brown eyes to the assembled Jedi with purpose.
Before the councilors could consider anything, the three Guard Commanders all took off at the same time, toggling the door open and closed behind them without time for anyone to relax.
“What the absolute kriff?” Commander Wolffe questioned, loudly, at the same time that every Commanders’ comms pinged with a system wide alert.
Commander Cody opened his to display to the entirety of the council.
It was holorecording of Commander Fox, his fellow Guard Commanders and several members of the Coruscant Guard standing behind him. At his side was Quinlan Vos.
“This is a notice to the GAR as well as to any holonews that might pick up the signal.” Fox paused, Quinlan wrapping an arm tightly around his waist and squeezing. Fox took a deep breath and continued. “As of now the Coruscant Guard is making the unanimous decision to leave the Republic.”
Several choked words echoed behind the announcement, with a loud groan coming from Mace as he slid from his chair and buried his face into Ponds’ shoulder when the Commander crashed to the floor to catch him.
“The Senate is corrupt, the Chancellor is corrupt, this whole damn system of government is corrupt, and we’ll no longer have anything to do with it.” Another deep breath. “You may see in the news that I assassinated the Chancellor as we are leaving. It’s not untrue, if it happens, but you may want to read through the data packet I released with this vid before condemning me to villainhood.”
Quinlan growled over the speakers and Commander Fox nudged him slightly with his shoulder before speaking again.
“When you read the data packet, you will know exactly why we did what we did. After this vid releases, you will never be able to find us, so don’t even try. We removed our slave chips and we’re going out into the galaxy to live our lives the way they were meant to be. I hope the citizens don’t suffer too much while the powerful use this opportunity to become more powerful.”
The entire Guard took a collective breath, Quinlan just as in sync as every vod on the holo.
“May fortune favor you.” They intoned before the holo blacked out.
The council room was silent for several beats before it was broken by Commander Bacara (of all clones).
“What did he mean by slave chips?”
Corrie Week Day 4: Accidental Child Acquisition
Wrote this in the last hour of work because I am a horrible horrible procrastinator :D

Socks: I have never in my life wanted to be a buir
this could have happened to literally ANY OTHER vod and they’d be ecstatic

Wrecks: you are literally responsible for every Guard there is
Socks: those are fully grown soldiers who can take care of their damn selves

I’ll get someone who actually kriffing likes me to help
*Socks has left Group Chat: “Shebs Squad Lives (despite trying hard not to)”*

I made them all read the Shore Leave datapad
they just do it anyway
Wrecks: my trouble makers would make it a to do list so I confiscated all the copies
but I did read it
it’s very thorough
Fly: Aayla read it then gave me a tl;dr
Bonds: kriff

Fox holed himself up in his office as soon as he found the tubie. Away from the noise and nosiness of the rest of the Guard. (They can’t help it, they all live on top of each other, you can’t hide osik from anyone in Corrie HQ. Not that Fox was hiding the tubie.)
“Should we give them a name?” Thorn was kneeling on the floor and looking at the tubie in Fox’s laps with eyes bright enough to put a sun to shame. It’s been awhile since Fox has seen that look.
“I think we should just call them tubie until they can pick their own. That’s what all vode do. They shouldn’t be any different.” Thire added his two credits, smiling as the tubie gargled in his direction, a bubble of snot popping from their nose.
Adorable.
“Yeah, but they don’t have a number to call them by in the meantime. We can’t just call them tubie, that’s a general word.” Stone murmured, carefully leaning over Fox’s shoulder to get a closer look at the so very small tubie.
“Maybe we should give them a Use Name? There’s a lot of cultures that have them and then pick their own when they reach majority age, so thirteen in natborn years probably.” Hound kept Grizzer close by even as the massiff wagged their entire body in excitement.
“What could be use as a Use Name though? That feels a little too like Naming them and I don’t like that.” Thorn frowned, lightly trailing his fingers down the tubies little pudgy arm, smiling helplessly when they grabbed his hand and giggled.
“Obviously it should be a variation of Fox, he did find them.” Thire looked up to Fox with a smirk and if he wasn’t holding a tubie Fox would have actually punched them.
“There are no variations of Fox, unless you want to call them Faux with the properly pronunciation, but I don’t like that.”
“What about Sox? Senth, osk, xesh? That’s a spelling play on socks. I think it fits.” Stone carefully avoided Fox’s eyes, being the only one in the room that knew his batch chat user name. Not that it mattered anymore.
“Did Cody have any advice?”
“No. He was busy.”
“Oh…well you were typing a while…were the others helpful?” Oh Thire. Ever the optimist.
“No. They were mostly concerned that I ended up a buir first, or blaming me for their troopers getting arrested for breaking the rules on Coruscant.”
The entire room echoed the patented Corrie Stank Face™ because Fox had his entire command staff whipped into the proper shape of vod that he got along with.
Competent shebs’palon’e that they are.
“Well, at least we still have Vos.” Thorn sighed, still held captive by the little tubie.
“I don’t know if Vos should count as reliable information about the care of a natborn tubie, but he’s all we have at this point.” Fox looked down into warm brown eyes and smiled helplessly at how adorable his tubie was.
“Ooooh! His Use Name should be Plots! Because that’s what Fox is the best at!”
The room filled with laughter for the first time since Fox arrived to this horrid posting, he almost forgot what it sounded like. All thanks to his little Plots.
“Ni kyr’tayl gai sa’ad, Plots.”
FoxQuin Week Day 7: Force-Sensitive Fox
Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening/Night!
I MADE IT THROUGH THE WEEK!
It was touch and go there for a second because hoo boy that Sonic 3 movies, my peoples, my love of Shadow has rekindled and I am trying to convince my wife to let us go see it again (it's not working).
ANYWAY!
Unlike the other days in FoxQuin Week, this one does have some prerequisite reading, TOUCHED by yours truly, has but one chapter of 5k length that probably should be read before this one, especially since I wrote this as the second chapter!
ANYWAY (again)
Day 7: Force-Sensitive Fox/"You arrested a Jedi?" "I was doing my JOB!" @foxquinweek
TOUCHED and all the days for FoxQuin Week will be collected and posted to ao3 on Monday or Tuesday unless we lose power due to the winter storm!
THANKS FOR READING <3 (also this is 5k so...pace yourselves?)

Fox was having an admitting good day.
It was less rare than it was back on Kamino, but still not an everyday occurrence. Normal days were the plethora here, but a good day does crop up every now and then.
Hex hasn’t tried to chase him down yet, Thorn is, for once, not complaining about being in charge (again), Stone has successfully quelled riots in the prisons by allowing for recreational theater performances (weird but whatever works), and there were rumors of another (shinier) Commander joining the ranks tbd.
Good day all around.
What made it even better was that Fox was currently “incognito” in the Senate Dome, wearing an atrocious mix match of civilian clothes, jogan berry smoothie in hand, and some dope shades he found dumpster diving last week covering his eyes.
Every time a senator tried to stop him he got to reply with “can’t talk, hunting seppie spies” and was Believed. It was fantastic.
(Admittedly, Fox was not expecting for the Senators to leave him alone with that flimsy excuse, but lo and behold…he is arguably a genius.)
What makes it all better, is that, for some reason, the Jedi in the Dome today don’t seem to realize he’s a clone. In fact, several of them have asked him which Senator he was an aide for with a suspicious side eye.
Fox has answered differently to each one, and considering they were all in a group giving him confused looks, they might be on to him.
So he gave them a smile that would melt ice and ducked out of that particular hallway.
When in doubt, nope it out.
Fox was sipping his smoothie when he got a comm. The only part of his armor that he was wearing, his comm.
He answered it with a loud slurp and reveled in the stank face Hex gave him. Fox smirked behind the straw.
“That better not have caffeine in it, you piece of osik.”
“Never.” Fox lied like a liar.
(The cashier may have looked at him funny when he asked for as many caffeine shots she could legally give him plus one because the law doesn’t apply to him anyway. Their face gloriously imprinted on the cup his caffeine with a little jogan berry smoothie was in. Fox may or may not be tapping his finger on it over and over to enjoy that particular expression as much as he could before he had to toss the evidence of his lies.)
Hex squinted his eyes at him like he knew Fox was lying but wasn’t sure how before growling and snapping at someone out of frame of the holo.
Fox couldn’t resist tilting his head and releasing the straw from his lips with a wide grin.
“Oh Hex, do you have company?” Fox sing-songed, laughing as Hex snapped at him.
“No! They are leaving!”
“But Hex, you didn’t say yes or no to having last meal together…” a soft voice echoed into the comm and Fox tried to place it while his CMO was spluttering out gibberish.
“Prost?”
“Oh! Hello, Commander Fox! Good guess but no, it’s Hetic.” Ahhh yes. Those two were practically riduur from what he could remember. In the last deployment of shinies, known famously in the Guard for stealing a perp’s leg prosthesis on their first shift.
Their Names were set in duracrete after that.
(In Fox’s unwanted opinion, Hetic should have got for Hesis simply because it’s fun to say. But it’s not his Name so he doesn’t get one of those.)
“Hmm. Won’t do that again.” Fox took another sip, enjoying the flustering of Hex far too much for it to be healthy, but no one could blame him.
It was the simple things, really.
“Hex will join you.” Fox decided for his CMO, because the vod never did anything nice for himself, and Prost and Hetic were known to be incredibly nice.
Maybe a good kriff with calm Hex down a little about Fox’s health.
“What?!” Hex screeched even as two other voices shouted with excitement. Fox was nice to the Guard, and no one could ever claim otherwise.
“You’ll have fun, Hex. And you need a break.”
Hex growled and let out a quiet agreement to the other vode before focusing on Fox again.
Shit.
“And you need to take care of your health.”
Fox waved at his comm, careful not to spill the glorious nectar in his violently red smoothie cup.
“I’m perfectly healthy, you just worry too much. In fact, you could almost say…”
“Don’t you fucking say it.”
“I am operating a peak efficiency.”
“I hate you.”
Fox smiled winningly while Hex contemplated his murder. Well his ambush with a hypo strong enough to knock out a gundark for a few hours to get Fox to sleep. (Ha, jokes on Hex, they only work on Fox for about thirty minutes if he really thinks about it. He knows, he’s tried several times until he knew that for a fact. (He was curious!))
“Did you comm for something besides me accepting a date on your behalf?” Fox nodded to a few passing aides giving him a wide berth. Exactly how he’d prefer it forever.
“Yes.” Hex sighed before flicking something on his comm and looking at Fox when his own comm pinged with a transferred data packet. “That’s the marching orders for the rest of my batch.”
Fox hummed and pulled it open, frowning when he saw that one was marked for the Marines, one for a softshell division on the 212th, and the last for the unofficial blackops no one was supposed to know about.
“I thought you said the long-necks learned better than to separate you.”
Hex sighed and rubbed his eyebrows in perfect imitation of ori’vode everywhere, funny because Hex was the middle batcher, before he looked at Fox with exhaustion.
Fox perked up.
Hex wasn’t often exhausted. Not by administration shenanigans, anyway.
(By Fox? Always.)
“It was the trainers who did their assignments. Apparently Seventeen recommended all three of them for the Guard, and General Ti backed them, but the long-necks sided with the trainers.”
Fox hummed, scanning the document with keen eyes, tapping his smoothie cup again to get another burst of disbelief and natborn horror to lighten his mood again.
“Easy enough fix, I think. Who all has seen this?”
“No one. One of the medics I trained snuck this unofficial copy to me before it was official.” Hex sighed, leaning back in his special CMO chair and flipping an unused hypo in his hand in a delightful tick that Fox enjoyed watching.
(You could set clocks by the rate Hex flipped his hypos. The vod was like a metronome but better because it was lethal.)
“Hmmm. I assume you want them all here?” Always better to be sure than to get something hilariously incorrect. Even though Fox was rarely wrong.
“That would be ideal. Lex and I are used to covering their…aberrations.”
“Fun word choice.”
“Thanks. It’s not mine.”
Fox hummed and let his fingers fly through his comm, easily using the backdoor he set up into the trainer exclusive ‘net access and rearranging the next set of deployments with a few twitches of his fingers.
It wasn’t even slicing, it was that easy.
“Alright. They should be here in a tenday. I can’t say I’m not excited to see what the rest of Lex’s batch is like. Considering they’re just like that.”
“Why do you think I can put up with your osik so easily?” Hex deadpanned Fox.
Fox cackled.
“Go panic about your date with the troopers you want to kriff you stupid. I have hot vod shit to do.” Fox signed out to Hex sputtering about that not being the case, blah blah blah. Fox tuned him out.
Sadly, with the end of the comm came the end of Fox’s truly delicious caffeine smoothie, shame.
On the Brightside, it was now time for Fox to collect some more date for Back-up, his beloved. One second Fox was strolling through the ornate Senate hallways, the next he was in their plain vents and chatting with the mousedroids.
Truly a perfectly wonderful day.
--
Fox was having the worst kriffing day.
In fact, he was seconds away from whipping out the Outer Rim curse words so he could even close to the amount of done he was right now.
Once again in shiny armor, once again accompanying some senators to clubs that they absolutely need an escort for, and once again wishing he could kill beings with his gaze alone.
The day started mostly fine, then there was no kaf to be found anywhere on base, and Hex actually didn’t have anything to do with it this time. Then the new deployment of troopers, including the rest of Hex and Lex’s batch, was delayed due to some osik about a kriffing Solar Storm (that’s not how those kriffing work, thank you, Fox was decanted yesterday).
Followed shortly by the announcement from the Chancellor that they were going to have to cut the Guard’s rations because of a poorly formed lie about the GAR needing it more, and the Guard didn’t see much action anyway. Also the med supplies. Hope you can make it work, Commander.
Fox absolutely could make it work, he just needed to whip out Back-up and he’d have a line of senators bending over backwards to get him what he wanted. But did Fox have time to do that?
No!
Because, once again, shady kriffing senators are requesting a single trooper escort of Fox’s kih’vod!
No!
So Fox was down in the bowels of Coruscant (smelling just as bad) and about to flip his kriffing bucket at the next stupid thing these senators tried to say and or do near him.
On the small bright side, there were only three this time, and two of them were otherwise engaged in flirting with female-presenting beings that were CLEARLY underage for their species. The third is in the fresher for some kriffing reason.
“Next time I’m just going to shoot them as soon as we get down here. Easy enough to cover that up in this criminal ridden cesspool.”
Fox was keeping an eye on the door while making promises to himself in the privacy of his muted external speakers when his day started to look up.
Because walking into the club was one Quinlan Vos.
Fox licked his lips.
This time the Jedi was wearing a backless top that only had fasteners around the neck and waist, leaving so much delicious skin bared to all and sundry. With his regular skin tight leggings, knee high leatheris boots and matching gloves. Gold dripped from his locs, ears, and enveloped his neck and upper arms.
Truly a sight to see.
Vos immediately caught sight of Fox, as hard as he wasn’t trying to hide in his shiny armor, and perked up as if he could tell that it was Fox.
Jedi osik.
He gave a little wave of his fingers before sauntering over to a syndicate head sitting not too far from Fox’s chosen position.
Fox elected to enjoy the impressive seduction of a stupid moronic criminal instead of keeping too close of an eye on his charges. What can he say, he’s a vod of simple pleasures.
That’s why he’s going to blame Vos as the reason why he didn’t notice the fresher senator suddenly appearing right next to him.
Their species was irrelevant, probably human-adjacent, but they were taller than Fox and decided to loom over Fox. Poor choice really.
Fox tuned out of whatever they were saying. Honestly, after one senator talked osik the rest kind of just filter right back out into space. No need to waste brain power. He had better things to think about.
At this moment? That was about the shiny Vos rescued from being outnumbered on one of the lower levels. With a smile even. Charge sent him holos because he was a good vod’ika. Vos looked good angrily protecting the Guard.
Perhaps that is also why Fox didn’t realize the danger until it was already acting.
The kriffing senator pulled off his bucket. And then had the audacity to startle at Fox’s appearance. He was a clone for kriff’s sake, they all look the same. (Fox had amber eyes and early greying hair, but he was still a vod, the basics were all the same anyway.)
Fox blinked at the senator and decided to tune back in to what was going on, twitching his fingers to bring forth the memory of Lex fixing his gloves with deft fingers and a repurposed piece of metal as a needle. The captain somehow got their hands on cortosis and so now Fox’s hands could temporarily short out lightsabers should he need to.
Anyway.
“…you really are far too handsome to be hiding behind this drab helmet all the time. I think you should accompany me this evening as more than a guard…an escort perhaps?” The sleemo dropped their voice like it was supposed to be sexy but it mostly made Fox think about the semi-sentient moss he found in the basement of HQ.
Fox didn’t bother to reply, just cocked his head and looked back over to Vos and his attempts at seduction.
Warm brown eyes met his own, only this time there was no spark of attraction or challenge or curiosity like the last time, when Fox cornered him after the stake out. Instead there was an indignant anger, blazing furiously, and a glare boring holes in the senator still looming over Fox.
A shiver raced down his spine at the look.
Who knew the Jedi could be even sexier than before? Illegal. (And not in the way Fox’s existence was illegal, more in the way that Fox didn’t want to be more attracted to the Kiffar than he already was. Asshole.)
Unfortunately, to make his bad day into a horrible one, the looming senator decided that the shiver was in reaction to him instead of Vos, unbelievable, and leant further into Fox’s space, daring to caress Fox’s cheek like he was allowed to touch.
Fox shuddered at the image of other vode in the same position he was in now, but frozen with fear where Fox was starting to bristle with indignation. They weren’t ranked, and most of them were Fox’s Corries. How fucking dare?
Before he could decide how to deal with this (his leading choice was a blaster bolt to the head like the aide who tried to touch his shiny, but this was a senator and that might be slightly more suspicious), the senator pressed their lips to Fox’s.
Fox blinked.
Then the senator was halfway across the club, groaning in pain from being slammed into the wall of the bar area.
An expanse of brown skin flooded Fox’s vision as the club grew quiet, several eyes alighting on Fox and his unexpected protector.
“I don’t believe they said you could do that, ser.” Vos’ voice was deep and growly and Fox didn’t think he could be more attracted to a being before.
Fox blinked again and the senator was back, yelling at Vos until they were red in the face, blotchy and uneven, and the other two senators stayed where they were with their under-aged companions.
Vos stayed unaffected in the face of the vitriol, staring blandly as the offending senator got more and more worked up. Fox located his helmet and put it back on, using his HUD to start slicing into the clubs security and other various systems to do what he wanted.
Just when it looked like Vos was gearing up to do whatever he did to get the senator across the club after they kissed Fox, he cut the power and scrambled the bare of holo footage there was.
There was floundering and screaming and Fox just took his opportunity, darting forward with a thin durasteel blade Forge had made for him from her last foray into the scrap levels, and slit it right across the senator’s throat.
Fox wasn’t going to let them live after daring to think they had the right to his lips, but kriff if it wasn’t hot to watch Vos, unnecessarily, come to his rescue. So Fox figured he could do the senator the favor of a quick death.
They didn’t even gurgle, just collapsed into the ground with a slump.
Thank the waters for dark-vision HUDs.
Fox flicked the lights back on.
Surprisingly, there was less screaming with a body on the floor with the lights on than with no body and the lights off.
Whatever.
Not his problem.
Fox nodded to Vos, who didn’t look surprised, but was looking Fox up and down with furrowed brows and a down turned mouth. That was a later problem.
“Senators, we’ll have to cut this trip short. I need to call a squad to come investigate the death of Senator…that guy. Please come with me to the lift.” Fox had already asked for Squad Gator when he cut the lights, and Sher said they were barely a minute out so he wasn’t concerned with closing the club down or any other procedures to secure the scene.
The two nodded looking vaguely wrong colored for their perspective races, but Fox generally wasn’t concerned with the health of natborns as a rule.
But he knew he had Back-up on them both so he could take the walk to the lifts to make sure they kept their filthy lying mouths shut about what happened right before the other senator was “assassinated”.
Fox ignored Vos and walked his two charges back the way they came only an hour ago.
His horrible day was already looking up.
--
Vos did find him later, much to his pleasure.
The kriffer somehow managed to scale several floors to duck into Fox’s office via window with a well-practiced tuck and roll. Hot.
“Fast thinking back there, Commander Sexy.” Were the first words out of his mouth, the shabuir.
Fox just raised his eyebrows and smiled blandly, signing another form with a senator’s signature to approve a shipment of rations to the Guard.
Somehow not having a Jedi meant that Fox had to find other ways to get his Corries the supplies they needed. Easily doable when Fox had access to so many natborns who were very careless with their datawork.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, General.” Fox tapped his bare fingers along his repurposed desk, feelings of determination and desire for approval pinging in his brain.
(His kih’vode had found the desk for him while on patrol and fixed it up all nice and pretty. There were several spots all over it with nice memories, images, and feelings for Fox to invoke whenever he needed them.)
“I’ve been in my office all evening doing datawork.”
Vos laughed and flopped onto Fox’s beloved sentient eating couch, making a sinful groan of comfort and wiggling in to a more settled sprawl.
Fox licked his lips while Vos had his eyes closed.
Idly, he wondered what it would be like if he dragged Vos to the desk and rode him like an eopie, what kind of impression would that leave on the surface. Would Fox see bare expanses of brown skin? Would he feel the warmth of a body below his? The delicious fullness of being properly full?
He licked his lips again, tongue slipping into his mouth just in time for Vos’ eyes to open lazily.
“I’m a Jedi, handsome. You might be able to fool the average natborn, but not a Jedi. Like I said the first time we met, a super nova hiding in the shadow of a large sun.” Vos drawled, stretching out not unlike a tooka before settling again.
“I see. Well I will neither confirm nor deny my involvement in whatever it is you may be asking about.” Fox grinned and laughed at the smoldering look Vos flicked at him.
“I don’t know if that makes you more or less attractive.” Vos grumbled and Fox giggled under his breath while signing an approval for the formation of a Massiff Squad. Hound would probably enjoy have a legal reason to bring his little herd of massiff puppies around the general public. Could be useful if trained the right way too.
“Mmm. Thank you for saving Kirk last Primeday.” Fox made sure to continue doing what he was doing even as he felt a pleased surprise start to invade his office. Stupid Jetii with their stupid Force osik.
“How are they doing? They were really upset when I dropped them off at the Guard Barracks.”
Fox smiled to himself.
“Better now. I had them reassigned to the prison and Stone is having a grand time with having a new protégé to follow him around like a quaduck. Kirk keeps pestering us when he’ll be able to thank you properly. It’s driving Spock nuts.”
Vos hummed happily and gave Fox a wide smile with closed eyes…and dimples?
“I’m glad he’s okay. Maybe I’ll swing by the prisons to check for myself, if that’s alright with you, Commander Competent.” Vos leered at Fox, but it was clearly done playfully and he couldn’t help but enjoy the twitch in his DC at the compliment. (A praise kink? Him? Who would have guessed.)
“If you can get in without any of my Guard seeing you then I don’t see a problem. More of a reason to assign them to awareness training. They need it.”
“Not everyone can be as vigilant as you, commander. Some of them like the little surprises in life.” Vos started to use his Force bathakark to float random detritus that Fox has hidden away like little treasures.
Luckily Back-up was always on his person and therefore immune to Vos’ Force shenanigans (allegedly).
Fox just enjoyed watching nimble fingers smoothly moving in the air as if Vos was playing some sort of keyed instrument. What else could he do with those fingers?
“Are you thinking dirty thoughts about me, Commander?”
“Maybe.” Fox purred, grinning when Vos faltered and dropped a flimsi weight on his head, turning to look at Fox with wide eyes. His pupils were so blown Fox could barely make out the pupil, and his qukuuf glittered beautifully in the office’s dim lightening.
It wasn’t new. Fox flirting with Vos, but he’s never been quite so forward about his sex related thoughts before. At least not with the topic of them. Thorn, if you listen to him, has heard too much about them.
Vos recovered admirably well, carefully lowering the rest of his toys and choosing to stare Fox down with his own dirty thoughts clear in the way Vos was looking at him.
Props to him, he stayed lounging on the couch, simply resituated to make it fairly obvious that his tight leggings were tenting.
Fox licked his lips.
A short growl came from Vos’ throat and he emphasized his growing problem with a thrust of his hips.
Yeah.
Fox wanted to equally bend Vos over his desk and ride him until he was incoherent.
But.
Just because Vos was being more open and friendlier with the vod’ike didn’t mean that Fox was ready to give in to his thoughts.
“And thank you for your assistance with my trooper in the club. It was unneeded but appreciated.”
In the span of a single snap, Vos’ stance went from horny and flirty to happy and jubilant, pants still obviously tented but easily ignored.
Interesting.
“Completely my pleasure, my darling Commander. The senator had it coming. Regardless of who was or wasn’t the one they were assaulting.”
Fox paused. Furrowed his brows. Cocked his head.
“Assaulting?”
Vos looked surprised.
“They kissed you without permission or consent. That’s assault.”
Fox pursed his lips and darted his gaze back to his datawork requesting more units for the security of the upcoming Senatorial Gala.
Units.
“Those laws don’t apply to us, General.”
Vos flinched as if he had been physically struck across the face.
“Clones are not considered sentient, more akin to blasters than the soldiers we actually are, at least in the eyes of the general public.”
“How the kriff aren’t you consider sentient? Every single one of you is so bright and vibrant and unique. You are obviously a People, connected by a shared culture and kriffing language! Who in the Force is denying you sentientship?”
Wow.
From horny to incensed with a single sentence. That had to be a first for Fox. In fact, the pleasant bulge in Vos’ pants had completely dissipated. A shame because Fox had enjoyed seeing a physical reaction of his flirting.
Pity.
Also.
Somehow, Vos managed to rocket his fuckability somehow even higher by getting so mad at imaginary beings calling Fox and his Vode non-sentient.
“You don’t pay very much attention to politics, do you, General Vos?” It was an honest question that somehow confused the haran out of the man on his couch. The confusion so thick it felt like Fox could take a decent bite out of it. (He wondered if it would taste good?)
“What does politics have to do with it?” Vos spat the word politics like it was a disgusting word and Fox had to laugh. Only he would somehow find the one Jedi who wasn’t up to date on the state of the Vode and their position as legal slaves. Even kriffing Guardian knew about it.
The poor Jedi was always so sad when Stone nonchalantly mentions their lack of sentiency. (Note to self: figure out what the kriff was going on with all that. Did Stone also have a crush/attraction to a Jedi? Could they BOND over this? Fox sure hoped so.)
“I suggest you look up the transcript of the Senate meeting that confirmed the existence of the GAR and the subsequent indoctrination of the Clones as their only troops save for a few natborns in positions of authority. If you really want a good read, look at the charter of regulations for clone troopers and the pyramid of authority.” Fox hummed, going back to his datawork as Vos started to understand the sheer gall of the Senators trying to pretend they’re better than slavers simply because they hide behind the question of if clones are considered sentient or not.
It’s not slavery if the beings in question aren’t beings.
Fox always liked to compare them to chattel. Born and bred to fight and die in a war they had no stakes in. It’s not like the Republic ever said the Vode would get their personhood at the end of the war. Not like the Separatists said they’d grant rights to cloned peoples if they won either.
Fox honestly didn’t give a kark who won the war. He just cared that his vode lived.
Vos nodded dully, flicking out his comm to send a message to someone about something before clearing his throat and refocusing on Fox.
“So how close am I to finally learning your name, Commander?” There was no quirky nickname this time. Pity.
“I guess you’ll just have to find out, General Vos.” Fox smiled at his companion before focusing more on his datawork and updated some of his Back-up as several Guard started to ping in updates from various patrols.
“I’ll just keep putting the work in. I don’t think I’ve been this curious about something in a long time, so you’re stuck with me, Commander.” Vos peeled off one of his gloves and rubbed his bare hand along the material, smiling to himself with every movement.
If it were Fox, he’d say the Jedi was seeing the memory of Thorn and Stone arguing over who needed to take Chief Dried Jogan Duty for the day and devolving into deciding via scuffle. (Stone won.) Or Kirk and Spock earnestly telling Fox about their new plan to help Stone quell riots via art therapy. Or maybe Fox himself working to some release after their last meeting.
The options were endless, but always positive. Negativity was not allowed on the Sentient-Eating Couch. Fox said so.
It was a nice way to pass the evening of a relatively horrible day.
He could get used to it.
Was working on the unhinged Fox fic at work (like you do) got about 1.3k in, and suddenly it’s a QuinFox fic
You’re welcome
