Watching Bellamy storm out was heartbreaking. It wasn't that she didn't want to try, it was that she didn't want to have a worse heartache for getting up her hopes. She called her mother, only to be told that the reason Veronika had hidden her up, was that she no longer wanted to deal with Alpha throwing away her life to be with Bellamy. Veronika fully believed that their relationship would end badly. She told Alpha to never call her again. Not wanting to lose the only person who had ever truly cared for as who she was, Alpha grabbed her purse and headed out. It wasn't hard to figure out where her father was staying, after all, there was only one five star hotel around. The desk clerk gave Alpha Richard's room number and Alpha marched herself up there.
Richard let her in and it was immediately obvious that he was an alcoholic. Empty bottles covered the table and Alpha wrinkled her nose at them. But she was here on a mission. She fixed him with the look she gave people when she wanted them to know that she was the queen. "I'm not leaving Bellamy behind. And I don't want to live with you, I don't even know you." She spoke with the tone of a girl who was used to getting her way.
Richard snorted. "Oh yeah. Veronika mentioned you were pretty attached to your street-trash boyfriend. But legally I have control over you. So if I say that we're leaving, then we're leaving." Earlier he had seemed almost kind, but now that they were alone, his demeanor had completely changed.
Alpha set her jaw and glared. Bellamy was the only person who cared for her. He was the only person who had even visited her in the hospital even. How could she leave him without a fight? How could she have let him walk out thinking he wasn't worth everything to her? "I'm not leaving. You can do whatever you want, but I'm staying. I don't care."
Veronika had never raised her hands to Alpha, so when Richard hit her in the face, she was stunned into silence. He seemed suddenly more imposing now that she was sitting on her ass, holding a hand to her face. Maybe she should have mentioned to someone where she was going and what she had planned. Richard grabbed her by the wrist, hard enough to bruise, and yanked her back to her feet. For once in her life, Alpha realised that she was scared. "I'm calling a taxi to take us to the airport. This is no longer a discussion. You will sit down and you will be quiet." Alpha shakily complied, sitting down on the bed. Richard went to make a call for a taxi, and with shaking hands, she pulled out her phone.
