hiatus notice
|| okay. consider this an official hiatus notice until I get my life together lmao
I just started working so I’m gonna be off a lot more, and I still have a lot of other things going on so until I can get everything in order and get a system working for me I probably won’t be on.
|| sorry guys I got really busy and my muse has been kind of low. I’ll try to be on within the next few days to get to drafts, but Idk how much time I’ll have for that.
(( keep-singingx ))
A small laugh escapes Beth’s dry lips and she looks down, “Guess grounders are more wise than the sky people huh?” she focuses on the blood dried on her hands, “It’s easy for you guys to get blood on your hands and then move on..”
Her eyebrows drew together, almost as if she was confused as to why the girl would be implying otherwise. “ Yes. At least the warriors. It’s what we were trained to do. We protect our leader and our people by any means necessary, and we can’t let it weigh on us, or else they deem us unfit for the job and they surrender us. “
(( keep-singingx ))
Beth looks at the other girl, “It’s dangerous showing your weak side…people could get to you easily and ruin you.”
Echo tipped her head to the side a bit, sighing softly though her eyes remained gentle towards the girl. “ That is why you must know when it is right to show your weak side, and when it is right to keep it to yourself. “
(( notsoheavynly ))
“Scare them.” Bellamy offered. “You’re all strong willed, make them think you can fight. Even if you can’t. They’ll feel surrounded and outnumbered.”
She let out a small breath, head tipping to the side a bit. “ That is not how we were trained. You fight until you can’t, and most of them already can’t. “

The authority in the voice made her still. It did not matter that whoever spoke was unknown to her. She was running on adrenaline, muscle memory and instinct, which truthfully she wasn’t sure she could entirely trust, here in the mountain and this one was one of the first reflexes to ever be drilled into her during the years of training. ·Her whole body reacted as she had been taught to when addressed by an elder, back straightening as much as was possible in the cramped space. Until her raised head finally looked to the person. Of course it was not Anya’s voice warning her as she so often did to be silent, she was aware that her mentor as she knew her had been silenced forever, but she had been anticipating the order to come from someone in her own clan. Instead what little she could see of woman’s markings revealed she was from Azgeda.·
The loneliness she felt was overwhelming. She could not even take comfort by glimpsing her own shoulder, since the cage made it impossible to maneuver.
She could handle anything with this reminder of her bravery, but without it she doubted the force of her own will. She had killed to ensure her own survival but she could not wage war on the mountain men. In this place she was nothing but a lone warrior who was yet to complete her training. There was nothing to be done but wait and try and learn more. Without any certainty of an end to it. Except one. These were not lessons that she craved. Death was not something she feared on any day, but these made her welcome it as she never had before.. So she invited it, and them, if they were listening, in with a desperate cry that sounded the same as the animals she trapped.
“Let them come.” she added when she could, using the warrior’s tongue so their ears would not mistake her intentions. She had failed Anya. And the others. Their blood was on her hands as much as it stained those of the mountain guards. Her heart ached. It stood to reason that her body should too. ·It was her fault.·Jus drein jus daun.
Echo’s jaw clenched at the girl’s stubbornness. She knew it was only because she recognized the elder girl as not from the same clan. But to Echo it didn’t matter. Her anger towards the Trikru were centered towards Lexa, and she did her best to protect those kids in the woods, and now she was facing another inside the mountain with her.
It almost felt like what she had done didn’t matter because no matter how hard she tried to keep the kids of her own clan safe, this other kid from the other clan was still here. And she was still a kid.
Echo let out a soft breath, eyes still locked on the other girl’s with authority.
“ Then they kill you first, and then the rest of your people.·“ She said, moving to lean her back against her cell once again.·“ If they see you as a threat they’ll drain you sooner, and you won’t live to take care -- and protect -- your people, that is your job isn’t it, Seken? It is not to die·unless you are in the midst of fulfilling your job, and sitting·in a cage isn’t your job.·“
(( screwfears ))
“We are supposed to become something like a family so I think there is no reason that we start living separated first. Except you believe this is better for the both of you? I understand if you need more time.” Bellamy offered with a smile, leaving the choice more or less to Echo. He wanted her to feel comfortable around him and her daughter.
She shook her head a bit, waving it off. “ No, no.. It’s fine. “ She said, giving a small smile. She was okay with him staying with her and Dela. But, of course part of it was if her queen didn’t see that they would be able to live together, she might change her mind about letting them go through with this. “You’re more than welcome to stay with us. “

The urge to scream grew stronger. This time it was streams of words that threatened to burst out. Most of all she longed to yell that she cared not if Echo forgot her place out there as long as she kept hers here. Now. Nia wanted her to stay and she needed her to know the truth of that badly enough to risk calling out in every tongue that she was able to speak. More languages than she knew, in fact, or was ever likely to gain knowledge of. She almost did. But what stopped her was the realization of how little it would change. Nothing would be altered for the better. She would only doom them. And while she was unconcerned by her own fate she would not bring that one down on the other girl’s head while she could so easily avoid it. Just stop being weak. It was simple to do what she must and more importantly to do as Echo asked of her. She would think. Try to ignore the way her heart echoed the fiercest of war drums in her chest, heralding the loss to come as they did. She would make this decision with her head. Rely on reason to save her from the prospect of what she could not bear. She was, after all, owed, since it was rationality that had led her to be bonded with Kaspar, condemning her on the one hand as much as she was eventually blessed on the other With Ena. Something good had been born of that choice she had made long ago. Perhaps it would so that the one her warrior lover was making would have a similar result given enough time. Was it foolish to hope that a solution could be found? Many might say so but she was not one of those. Refusal to believe it to be true did not bear thinking about. That would bring her heart ruin the likes of which her houmon could only dream of causing.
It was not the end. It could not be.
Instead the queen looked upon this moment as a negotiation gone badly, in the vein of the heda’s notions of a coalition. Things had broken down temporarily with Echo but they would resume once new strategies had been devised, and then would come a more lasting reconciliation If Lexa had means to unite many clans then the Azgeda kwin should be able to keep one girl close to her.
However, these long term goals did little to ease her short term suffering once she was left alone. She lay down immediately, her body all but collapsing as the other exited, but she could not rest. Her heart had barely beat once before she rose again to look out of the tent flap. She did not admit to herself that this glimpse her may be her last, even if it was certain to be the final private glance for a while. She would not surrender to the feeling of hopelessness that settled in her gut. What could she know of that type of defeat? Of any. She was a queen. There was nothing she could not overcome.
Her mother’s voice reciting back old reassurances. They felt like lies. No longer comforting as they had been in her youth. Her eyes were open now and they watched Echo go. Nevertheless, the ghost was persistent. It urged her.
So she did not stay quiet, though she could not scream. Or cry. She was composed. Careful. It was because of both their ranks that she opted to aim these particular words at the other’s back. There was no doubt that having finally found her voice they would carry and reach ears besides the intended. And when they did, no fault would be found. She was simply a queen who spoke encouragement as her warrior departed. That was all. “Ste yuj.”
Her chest ached as she made her way back to her own tent. Back to her daughter. Arms folding as she fought against both the cold air and the shaking in her body which only hurt worse because of the wind and the snow. She kept her feet moving, however, knowing that if she stopped now she wouldn’t be able to pick herself back up for awhile when her feet gave out from under her.
Her back straightened, though, when her ears finally heard a prolonged command from her queen. The one thing she had been asking for, though it wasn’t what she had expected when it finally did come. It was quiet, however, due to the distance Echo had now put between them. She finally got the command she had been asking for herself, though she wasn’t sure how much of it, or how long, she’d be able to obey it.
But she straightened herself out, doing her best in the moment to follow through with it.
Once she did reach her tent, she willed herself to take a moment for herself, to compose herself before Dela could ask questions. She stopped just outside of the entrance, letting her arms fall despite the shaking in them, and closed her eyes. Breathing in the cold air as her head tipped back a bit to enjoy it for half a moment. She stood there, and for a moment forgetting everything that had just happened. When she opened her eyes again she brought her head back down, brushing her hair out of her face before pushing in through the opening, taking her spot back down in front of Dela, who hadn’t seemed to move since Echo had left.

They take the strongest first. The realization had kept her still and quiet behind these bars. Until now. She was one of the strongest seconds, that had been a proven fact many fights over, she wore the scars of that truth proudly, but it meant nothing here. Grown men had been caged in this place before she arrived and would fill her space after she had gone from it. One day. Not today though. Today, she had time.
Knowing this was a blessing and a curse because she had never been more alone than this, not even when her mother died, and when the only company was offered by her thoughts, Tris would rather scream to chase them away. Even if that brought attention. She was taught acceptable levels of risk when she still had a mentor to give such lessons. She understood plenty.
She learnt during those first hours locked in what the word powerless meant Her vocabulary had expanded quickly in the mountain. This was not the transformation she had readied herself for when she reached her thirteenth winter. She has reverted back to a weak, abandoned child. and whenever her eyes close she watches Anya fall again. She does not rise. She will never.
Finally, her fists hit out against the bars. Loud. Unrelenting. Repetitive. Pointless.
Echo had finally run out of conversation with Bellamy, now only listening to the hum of the machines that surrounded them. She ached, she had almost been bled a few times but someone else always ended up getting picked because of her observations of which ones they took. She kept herself pushed back against the cage when they did come in, head down as she willed herself to be hidden from their search.
But now, her back was only resting against the chain, arms wrapped around her knees as her thoughts were interrupted by the sudden rattling and banging of a cage a few cells down. Her body moved forward, knees now beneath her as she looked in the direction of the noise. She spotted the girl, not much older than the kids she had willed herself to be taken for so they could return to their own lands.
“ Shof op -- “ she ordered the girl, eyes remaining on hers before she repeated the words as a command. “ Daun ste pleni, nau shof op. “

One Year of the 100 ↬ Day 2: Favorite Male Character (Lincoln)
“When I was a boy, I saw a ship fall from the sky like Raven’s. The man inside was hurt, body broken. I couldn’t get him out…I brought him food, water. I didn’t speak the enemy‘s language yet. So I couldn’t understand him, but I wanted to. So on on the third day, I told my father. He made me kill him. The world has been trying to turn me into a monster for as long as I can remember.”
