@therealjacksepticeye and Sam kickin’ some butt!
So um, i thought I'd ask you but i have a friend, we are both 21. I don't know how to tell them to stop negatively commenting and putting down my pet. I have a spider pet. on my insta i'll take pictures of my spider or just the tank, or if I get something for my spider, i'll take a picture and my friend will comment with either anger faces, comment 'squish' or 'ew' or 'how can you keep something so nasty?' 'i never can come over now' she's made comments about the tank. Just really disrespectful ones, and shes in a couple servers i'm in and she'll anger react to the spider or the tank. I've tried talking to her about it, but she claims its just her phobia. But it makes me so sad. The pictures don't even need to be of the spider, so the phobia doesn't make sense. like i've bought plants for the tank and she'll make comments like 'i hope someone adds bug killer to those plants'. Obviously i can't ever have her over. but she does this stuff on insta and on discord. Do you know anything I could do?
Oh geez. I'm so sorry. It seems like you've tried to be accommodating. (asking why, finding out its a phobia) but at the same time it doesn't mean comments like "squish" are... acceptable. They seem cruel. Like heck, I'll be honest. I got a slight (its gotten way better now) spider and snake phobia. But its to the point I get jittery/shakey and I move *away* from the phobia thing. (I said "better". Better doesn't always make sense. =_= like there could be a spider in the house, I'll run out of the house. It makes no sense. LOL) But to me being aggressive/leaving mean comments... it doesn't sound like a phobia necessarily? Like it sounds more like disgust? But it's also not okay to say to you. Like its your pet and you aren't responsibility for her feelings of disgust. I think at that point, I don't think there's anything you can do to met her in the middle. Again its your pet, I don't know what your suppose to do, your insta is your platform. & from the sounds of it, it sounds like she doesn't like anything to do with the spider. I think there's two options really either, slowly move away from her (not physically) but just stop engaging. OR try bringing it up again, But explain how you feel, & then tell her the consequences so if she does it again you can remove her from your life. Phobia or not, its not really fair. I'd suggest making some friends who are also into spiders. (can look up terms like "Arachnologist" ) but yeah =( I'm sorry anon.
