I KNO IM PROBABLY BOTHERING WITH ALL TEHSE THEORIES BUT ONE MORE FOR THE ROAD.
A Tumblr user, (mia-pon289) said something very curious in their TWST theory that Yuu or Mc and Grim share the same base with Chernabog (i think he was in Maleficent or Fantasia) stating that Yuu has the deceive with looks base while Grim has the breathes fire base. It immediately called to mind ur response to my ask where u stated that Kal being underestimated is a good thing and now I can't stop thinkiinhggg
No please, keep talking to me!! I love talking like this with you!!
I think I remember a post like that! Or at least, I remember a few posts about Chernabog over all the theory posts I've seen 😅
Chernabog is an interesting case in regards to Disney "Villains" 🤔 He's really not an actual villain, as he doesn't have a "Hero" to fight. He's more the embodiment of a concept ("Evil" in this case) and doesn't have any dominant personality in his source media (Fantasia.) He's more a force of nature than any actual Villain.
However, he's still considered one of the Big Villains, one of the most powerful Villains in Disney, and has been... not quite fleshed out, but... made more? He's given somewhat more personality in other depictions of him. Yet even so, most people either don't recognize him or forget his existence.
It's pretty strange that there's a Dorm that became abandoned. How did that even happen? What was it before it became Ramshackle? Because Ramshackle is in reference to the state of the dorm, not the actual name of the dorm.
The ghosts were former residents of Ramshackle, but they only ever refer to it as Ramshackle. Not by any official name.
Why? Why would they forget the name of the dorm the spent at least three years in? Do they know why it was abandoned? There's obviously a reason the dorm was abandoned, but why was so much about it forgotten? Was it really forgotten? Or is it being hidden?
If there is a connection between Chernabog and Ramshackle, my money is on how Chernabog is forgotten as a Big Villain and how no one seems to remember what the dorm was before it was abandoned.
I have a weird theory. Know how the Mirror of Darkness says that Yuu's soul has no shape, do you think that there's a possibility that Yuu's soul may have been summoned/transferred into a body more compatible with Twisted Wonderland, which leads to my theory that Yuu either has compatibility with Twisted Wonderland or not. When Yuu doesn't have compatibility they receive repercussions (in Kal's case a curse preventing them from speaking a language deemed too Old) it makes sense that Shakespearean English would be the safest option.
Now THIS is an interesting theory.
It would make sense, I remember seeing another theory where they said Yuu, (the character, not us the player) didn't have a sense of taste, and it lead into this whole thing about how Yuu and the player are separate entities that Yuu is actually aware of to an extent.
What I'm trying to say is, is that the Mirror did say some funny things, so it's not unlikely that something could have happened to Yuu during the transfer. Being dropped into a compatible body, getting vibe checked by a curse, anything could have happened.
For Kal, something did, though the exact how and why (and who, for that matter) are still unknown.
(For now, in Kal's case, let's just say it's one part compatibility, and one part compensation)
I read ur last ask where you said that Yuu might have a different biological makeup. WHAT DOES THIS MEEN FOR KAL?? Like what if they get what is considered a common cold and it nearly kills them??
Also also, of Twst magic system is based of imagination, how hyperactive are their brains? Esp the students at NRC, RSA and other prestigious mage schools? Would it be possible for their Unique Magic to develop more as time passes or is it set like that (what i mean is, if Trey can overwrite magic for a short time what if it evolves into him being able to permanently overwrite smth or being able to extend and erase doodle suit at will kinda like Riddle's unique magic where it can only be taken off if he wills it?)
I'm just gonna post all of these together @pinkpruneclodwolf this is one magnificent theory brainrot and I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did.
I was, talking about when the FGO crew come in and how Pretender!Kal like, came into existence. Sorry for the confusion.
*cracks knuckles* OK! Here's what I have so far in this AU
Under a cut so I don't clog anyone's Dash
Callisto: The Origin of the Nymph
FGO wise, Callisto follows her Myth pretty closely; She's a (favorite) attendant of Artemis, Zeus happens, she's kicked out of Artemis' attendance for being pregnant, Hera turns her into a bear, Arcas attempts to kill her because he doesn't know it's her, they get turned into constellations by the mercy of Zeus.
The after is where Fate comes in; After a long time in the heavens as a Constellation, Callisto wishes, with all her being, to be allowed the chance to be anything else than this, a barely remembered myth, in a half remembered constellation.
This wish is heard, by a being simply called The Gentle Elder God. It had watched Earth for eons, and had heard Callisto's fervent wish. It approached Callisto with a deal; it will help Callisto find life on Earth, in a new vessel, similar to a reincarnation. A do over of sorts. In exchange, it wishes to go with Callisto, give her the power to protect herself from beings that wish to trick her, should the need arise. It wishes to see the world it has watched for so long, closer.
The two will cease to exist in the forms they are now, never to return to them, and be born as something other than this.
Callisto agrees.
(The Grail registers a new Servant)
And so begins the life of Kallisto Verdreiss, Old God Nymph Servant Mage Human of Earth.
Kallisto: Twisted Awakening
Kallisto lives an average life on Earth, has a normal family in the Midwest with all that entails. They have friends, play sports and games, go to school, and they eventually graduate high school.
(They don't know about Servants and Mages and the Holy Grail. The Gentle Elder was thorough in his choice to give Callisto what was deemed normal.)
It's here that, one day, Kal finds themself waking in a coffin, a strange cat creature demanding things of them in a language they don't entirely understand.
And so begins the tale of Twisted Wonderland.
The Prologue pretty much starts the same, right up until the Dark Mirror tries to sort Kal.
It does not go well.
The Mirror peers into Kal's soul, see the incomprehensible mass of Elder God within Kal, and becomes terrified. It quickly declares it cannot and will not sort an Elder God and vanishes, leaving the whole assembly baffled, and Kal completely confused, only understanding the word for God.
Lilia, having experienced a great number of things... Both the consequences of forbidden magics and wars, though not quite a Grail War, as it doesn't exist in Twst, but something similar, Servants included.
Lilia has to hold back in screaming at Crowley who summoned a damn Elder God on campus, why did you bring it here, send it back send it back send it back-
He holds back only because this God in human skin looks just as confused and terrified as the students do. Crowley beelines for Lilia and begs him to talk to Kal because they don't speak Common.
It's as painful an experience for both sides as you can imagine. Lilia is practically dissociating as he stiffly, haltingly explains to Kal what just happened, while Kal initially struggles to comprehend what Lilia is talking about, until Lilia asks if Kal is, perhaps, a Rogue Servant.
A lock clicks open in Kal's mind, and oh, oh they're a pseudo-Servant. The partial bundle of half implanted half remembered knowledge bursts in Kal's head like a abscess
It's not an easy revelation for anyone. Nor is that fact the Mirror can't send them back.
Still, Kal has nowhere to go, and they are wearing the ceremonial robes. Whether anyone likes it or not, Kal has to stay.
From there, the story moves forward pretty normally, with the exception of Kal's capacity to use recreations of other Servant's abilities. Kal has to explain Earth Magecraft to the best of their abilities to the staff, with some input from Lilia. Though, at the start, Kal has barely any access to said Servant abilities, or they risk backlash that could kill them instead.
(Ace would absolutely forget that the person he's just tried to make fun of is a vessel to an Elder God.)
I think, for all intensive purposes, the proper FGO entrance into the story would be like Events are in game; taking place at a vague point in time. Placing it in Canon, well, it would likely happen post Ignihyde-pre Diasomnia, as Lilia still would have issues trusting Kal completely, but would no longer be outright terrified of them.
Arcas: Lost Polestar
I just thought of this as I was writing this, but the first time Arcas appears to Kal would be at the VDC, as someone from RSA.
Arcas, initially, tries to become close to Kal, seeing as he's a rogue Archer Servant pretending to be human and Kal a pseudo-Servant. Kal, still only holding fragments of the memories of Callisto, and still struggling to come to terms with their status as a pseudo-Servant, allows him to since he's the only one who can actually understand.
(Or, at least, the only one who gave them a positive reaction at first glance. Lilia is still a sore topic.)
They would meet up in the town on Sage Island when school let's out, as Arcas promised at the end of the VDC to help Kal figure out w h a t t h e f u c k i s g o i n g o n with the twst world. Arcas is supportive, and Kal feels like finally they're getting somewhere.
It is a lie.
Arcas isn't a rogue Archer, as he's been pretending; he's a rogue Foreigner. And the God in possession of him has had it in for Kal's God since the beginning of existence. And this God is as twisted and evil as they come. It's tricked Arcas into a contract on the grounds that Kal's God is the evil one chaining his mother to it and having them go through all this bullshit in Twst. If he kills the other God, his mother will be free and join them.
Though he has to kill the "vessel" first.
Chaldea: Through the Twisted Looking Glass
Chaldea would have to be post LB6, as Oberon would need to there for the Pretender Class to be a thing. It also would be an event chapter, like Murder at the Kogetsukan, or the Lady Reines Case Files
However, it is possible to foreshadow their arrival to Twisted Wonderland as far back as LB5 with another character I've ended up creating thanks to Gluten:
Avenger Class Servant Callisto.
Rather than Callisto having the time to process their trauma and make the deal with the Gentle Elder, Avenger Callisto is plucked straight from the near end of her Myth, at the height of all her negative emotions. She hates most all Gods, but has a particular burning rage for Zeus. With what I currently have compiled of her, I feel she's a good fit for LB5.
(I honestly just wanted a Servant that has beef with Zeus in particular in LB5. It would have been perfect...!)
While Arcas is still masquerading as a good guy, Chaldea appears near NRC.
Kal and Lilia end up being the ones to be the go between between NRC and Chaldea, seeing as they're the only ones who understand what Chaldea is partially talking about.
At this point, Kal is surrounded by so many Servants that they get easily overwhelmed, so they tend to run off when they think Lilia has it handled, though Lilia isn't handling it much better. It makes Guda ask if Lilia is Kal's Master, which earns them a chilly, negative reply.
Someone asks if Kal is really the only Servant here, seeing as there has to be a connection to the Grail for them to be able to be here at all. Kal joyfully admits to Arcas being here, to which Lilia only raises a brow at.
Kal goes into long detail about Arcas and Callisto as they know from Myth, memory, and Arcas' testament, which gives Lilia a new perspective into Kal. Kal agrees to see if they can get Arcas to come meet them.
This is where Arcas starts to get a little... off.
He starts talking about if they should leave Twst, as the two of them aren't actually connected to Twst so it wouldn't harm them if they get cut off. He could take them and they could leave behind all this nonsense and be together as a family again and be free.
Kal... is very much not ready to leave Twst. They've come to care about everyone here too much. When they say they'll think about it, they starts getting a bad vibe from Arcas and leaves ASAP.
At this same time, Chaldea (read: Sherlock) is asking the rough same of Lilia: if Kal isn't linked to any Master, nor is attached to Twst, they could probably come with Chaldea when they leave. This makes Lilia pause in thought. Because for as terrified he is of Kal being a Servant, he knows Kal has never done anything to harm anyone, hell has more often than not been the keystone to saving the students who OB. He thinks about the interactions he witnessed or heard about.
Kal had always been genuine in everything. Had made the whole school more united. If they left...
His heart twists in a way it hasn't in a very long time. The realization slams into his head like a brick.
He cares about Kal. For all he's still wary, he cares about Kal.
Chaldea absolutely cannot have Kal if they don't want to go.
Sherlock merely smiles benignly, have found an answer to an unasked question.
It's at this point that Kal comes back from meeting with Arcas, looking somewhat panicked. They quickly ask what happened.
"I think... something's wrong with Arcas-"
That's all they get out before something, someone, begins raining down attacks on Chaldea.
Arcas has revealed himself and his intent. First he'll destroy Chaldea, the biggest threat, then destroy NRC, and when Kal no longer has anything to be attached to, he'll kill them and the god binding them and set his mother free.
In the safety of Chaldea, Kal is not handling this information well. They sit inside Chaldea with Lilia, dazed and half way to dissociation, as Guda calls for Servants to fend off Arcas. Both Chaldea and NRC are in danger simply because they exist as they do. It wouldn't have mattered where they existed, so long as they existed as Kal and not Callisto, Arcas would come after them.
Maybe... Maybe they should give themself up...?
Lilia, who has been watching Kal breakdown and reach that conclusion, of all things, just as he realizes just how much he cares-
"I shall declare here. Your body shall serve under me. My fate shall be with your sword. Submit to the beckoning of the Holy Grail."
(I will take you as my Servant,)
All eyes fall to Lilia as stands before Kal, hand stretched forward in offering, and says only one singular fragment of the summoning incantation for Servants, Kal staring up at him with wide eyes.
"If you will submit to this will and this reason…… then answer!"
(If you will have me as your Master.)
The whole of Chaldea watches as Kal slowly, hesitantly, reaches to take Lilia's hand in both of their own, eyes both somehow distant and focused at the same time.
One last lock clicks open. Light bursts between them.
Go on.
This time, we will be able to protect what is ours.
I actually have an opposite pet theory: Ramshackle is based on the Haunted Mansion and the Ghost Host. Haven’t fleshed everything out but in the original story, the Mansion and Host were more neutral evil. Yes, some residents are malevolent but some were fun loving partygoers. The Host themself enjoyed scaring living visitors but guided them through without harm, even inviting them back. (My dad had an actual official record with the entire narrated story released in 1969.) H Anon (1/2)
I'm well aware of the Haunted Mansion ride dearest H Anon, it's where I got Gus, Ezra, and Phineas' names from! And I've been on the ride!
But your theory is very interesting! And you could still fit Chernabog in the narrative if you wanted!
Ramshackle is, well, ramshackle, and that will end up including it becoming a patchwork of different references. The whole dorm building (and the ghosts inside) could be a reference to the Haunted Mansion ride, it's been all but proven that the room MC stays in is almost a 1 to 1 copy of Mickey's room in his ghost hunt cartoon, we just don't have a "Big Bad" as our dorm's focus like all the others.
Thus, Chernabog.
Sorry, off track, but I like your theory! It works well with what we do have from Canon, I'm just in Worldbuilding lore seeker mode and that makes me theory craft hard 🤣
Some AUs for LiT that I have concrete thoughts for;
Serious AUs
Pretender!Kal AU
Concept initially by @genshin-idiot because we liked the idea of Kal summoning FGO weapons, then propagated by @gluten-free-okami via discord, this AU is of a Kal who is an Old God who tricked itself into believing it was entirely human before entering TWST. Then, Pretender Class Servant Kallisto is reminded of their true nature when the Dark Mirror becomes terrified looking into the soul of an Old God. Kal still can't speak Japanese here, and Chaos ensues from there. Lilia in particular is Not Having A Good Time™️
Bat Dad Supreme AU
Concept proposed by user Lockdown on ao3, this AU has had a brief moment to shine during the One Year Celebration ask game and will later be getting a more fleshed out side story. This AU is where Crowley hands over guardianship of Kal to Lilia right off the bat. Kal ends up staying in Diasomnia and all the shenanigans that ensue with that; Family bonding with Silver and Lilia, early intro to Tsunotaro, and Kal throwing Sebek across a room.
Crack AUs
Actor AU
I swear someone proposed this idea to me, but for the life of me I cannot find who. Essentially, TWST is an episodic TV show and the chapters would be bloopers, behind the scenes, and cast interviews. I'm likely to start doing these at the end of each dorm arc.
B. Dylan Hollis AU
My love for B. Dylan Hollis has transfered to this extreme crack AU, where Kal turns into Dylan the moment they get a phone and find an old cook book in Ramshackle. Special taste tester guests include Adeuce, Trey, Ruggie, Lilia, Malleus, and whoever Kal can rope into it. Might start as an ask game.
Secondary Isekais AKA Kal gets Isekaid again AU
Ikemen Revolution isekai
From one Wonderland to another, Kal has to survive falling into this actual otome game with the proper protagonist. Platonic interactions ahoy as Kal as Alice the Third tries to live through the powder keg that is Cradle on the brink of civil war alongside Alice the Second.
Do you have an idea of the timeline of the game???? Im v confused bc the dates dont appear on the game and there isnt much indication on how much time passes (like yeah theres a few days/week later kind of thing that appear but like exactly how many weeks??? :sob:) pls send help
-some kid who wants t write for twst but doesnt wanna f-up the goshdarn timeline.
Ok, so, this is just me piecing together everything onto a calendar via in-game stuff and some IRL basics, but it's still all really vague and kinda funky once you actually think about it. But here's my best attempt to line up the school year so far + where some special events are
So the game starts just before school actually begins. So, if this is like a regular school timeline like we're fairly certain it is, this means it's roughly the end of August/beginning of September. If you want the most concrete date, the Prologue + Heartslabyul are the only ones you can feasibly do that with, after that, it's mostly guess work outside Halloween.
The whole of the prologue takes place over about two days before classes actually begin;
The first is the Entrance Ceremony, taking most of the first day and resulting in Yuu finding home in Ramshackle
The second day has a club fair meant for the incoming freshmen to peruse the school's clubs and see if there are any they want to join, or take the chance to make their own. Yuu is, instead, doing their given janitorial work, as they aren't a student at this point.
During this, however, is the Statue incident in the morning between Ace and Grim, followed by the chandelier incident that forces the One Brain Cell gang to go to the Mines later towards the end of the day. (~5pm if I heard correctly that NRC classes end at that time, so it wouldn't be a stretch to say the fair ends about the same time.) This takes the whole of that second day, and instates Yuu as a student while repealing the expulsions by the end of it.
After that begins Ch. 1, Heartslabyul, which can take place over... less than a week. You could stretch it a bit, but it's still iffy;
It's still technically the night before classes start when Ace shows up with a collar and demands to stay in Ramshackle. He explains what happened and Yuu lets him stay.
The next morning is the beginning of classes, Yuu has been in Twst for roughly 36 hours now. Deuce comes to get Ace early, before the school day begins, to bring him back to Heartslabyul, and they're chased out by Cater. They then have classes. The same day, at Lunch, is when Cater shows back up with Trey and they propose making the Mont Blanc. Later, now that classes have ended, the kids all head out to collect chestnuts from the forest behind the school. Once this is done, the spend the rest of the evening making the Mont Blanc. Deuce joins Ace in returning to Ramshackle, and so ends the first day of Ch. 1
The next morning, likely well before classes start, is the failed Unbirthday Party. Over the course of that morning, Riddle rejects Ace's apology tart over a Rule of the Queen of Hearts and is thrown out along with Deuce and Yuu for back talking. They encounter Che'nya at this point, who tells them to corner Trey to get answers.
Things get a little hazy here; they need to ambush Trey in the library when he's returning the cookbooks they'd used for the tarts. Do we know if this is at the end of the same day, after classes, or if they needed to stake out the library in wait for a couple of days? No. For now, let's assume it's the same day. They come up with the plan to Duel Riddle after the Headmaster shows up, and agree to have the duel the following day.
The next day, the Duel goes sideways very quickly; Ace's call out + that one student who threw the egg make Riddle spiral and Trey finally stepping in makes him snap, and he OBs. The battle to save Riddle happens and when they finally save him, they agree to the Revenge Unbirthday Party, then they must spend the rest of the day in the Nurse's office. It will take time to fix the Garden and have Riddle be cleared by the staff to have the party, but it seems to happen soon after the OB.
Here's where we can do a bit of actual calander placement; an Unbirthday Party must be on a day in which it is no one's Birthday. For us, this might mean all of the birthdays in Heartslabyul, but for someone as strict as Riddle, it's not a stretch to say Riddle would consider everyone in NRC. Which brings me to the one date we can pin for happening at the beginning of school: Jamil's Birthday, on September 12th. If we take Jamil's Birthday as the deadline for the Revenge Unbirthday Party, then we can feasibly assume that the whole of the prologue and ch. 1 take place over the course of the first 11 days of September at it's longest.
After this, everything is guess work, as we only get vague month placements, and most of the major events happen over a very short period of time, typically a week or less
Savanaclaw takes place sometime in October. If we take how extravagant Halloween is, being a week long event, then we can safely assume that the Interdorm Magift tournament takes place some time mid-October. (Leona also makes a side remark about the interschool tournament in May)
Octavinelle takes place during and after exams, which happen in either mid to late November seeing as Crewel says they'll need to spend part of winter vacation making up failed exams, which likely take up at the very least the whole of the last week of December + New Years, with the students returning on January 2nd
Which brings me to Scarabia; we know this is the start of winter vacation, and the Scarabia "training camp" likely was not meant to take the whole of it, so Jamil needed his plan to happen as quickly as possible, so it is likely this actually happens in the very short amount of time it appears to happen in game.
Now, for Pomefiore, we have a very long period of time in which this is apparently happening; the Culture festival itself is a two day event in February, likely some time around the later half of the first week of February to the beginning of the second week, as Bean's Day also happens in February; the 3rd, if we go by Bean's Day's irl counterpart Setsubun.
The whole of January, however, is mostly prep work for the VDC; the first half to allow students to practice for Auditions, and the second half for the chosen group to practice for the VDC. Pomefiore is the one that in game takes the longest to happen.
Ignehyde, so far at least, started the second day of the Culture Festival, and has occured over, according to what we know, at least a few days seeing as the captured boys have found a routine in their imprisonment.
Now, as for other events currently unnamed, we can assume that most take place post-Ignehyde;
The current event for Epel is apparently happening in the middle of term, and since it's a sled race, it's likely happening some time in February, or possibly in early January while it's still winter.
The Fairy Gala would happen after, happening either at the end of February or some time in March, as it is meant to be the event necessary for Spring to occur.
There are no events I can think of that currently occur in April, and the next event is the interschool Magift tournament in May as Leona stated.
June is the month for Ghost Bride to occur, since the notion of a "June Bride" and the amount of weddings occuring regularly in that month is partially what it's based on.
July would see two events; The Star Sending festival at the beginning, and Vargas training camp after, since the Star Sending event is a rough equivalent to Tanabata and that starts typically around July 7th, while the Vargas Camp would be in the latter half of July to potentially early August.
Well, that's everything! Hope this helps, and I hope I didn't forget anything. I didn't include the Master Chef event since it's stated that that's a class that they're taking, not any special event. Wow, NRC has one hell of an event scheduled when you actually put it onto paper o_O
Seeing as Kal is an SI-OC, it's a rework of my own name. Also, because it's got the funniest translation; if you were to translate Kallisto Verdreiss individually, you'd get "Most Beautiful" and "To Chagrin" respectively.
You can guess what personality point in Kal that lead to
7. Their 2020s AU quarantine craft of choice?
Crocheting! Kal hasn't gotten the chance to show it off in story yet, but I did mention in their profile that they can Crochet!
