David james has been announced as the script coordinator on Walker. He worked on Homeland. So first, what exactly does a script coordinator do? And do you think he is a good addition to the show?
Script coordinators have two primary jobs. First, they are glorified writer assistants/secretaries. They go over scripts for errors and make sure changes are clearly marked. They usually put together a “show bible” that tracks plot points and when characters were introduced. Second, they are the go betweens writers and production, including the legal department to make sure writers don’t accidentally get the studio sued. Most script coordinators eventually become screenwriters.

He’s a glorified secretary. I’m sure he’s angling to be on the writing staff. Homeland won awards from Golden Globe and Writer Guild so if he becomes a writer at least he’s had experience on an award winning show.
