every Easter that one post is full of notes of people bringing up interesting parallels based off unsourced facts about “back in ancient Israel this was the case” and I don’t actually have any evidence against them and they may well all be true but I still don’t incorporate them into my beliefs because I feel like people just straight. Make that stuff up. Not the people reblogging my post. But the places they heard it from.

I think in some ways season three, which thematically calls back to season 1 in many ways, was kind of their way to recreate the same kind of “what does it like to choose each other even when it’s hard? And what does it mean to love someone who has hurt you?” Without the most problematic elements of season 1, which ultimately posed the same questions.

(There are other themes at work in season three, about family and trauma and identity, but the parallels are undeniable imo)

It is actually driving me nuts how casually he keeps saying “Count Dracula”! Like, in a good way, like when you are watching a tragedy unfold and you know the ending. I cannot even imagine what it might be like to read this with no ambient cultural knowledge, no concept of who “Count Dracula” is
