i feel like... given the right circumstances, scully would feel protective of faith. sympathetic.
she hasn't been there herself. i don't know whether she'd understand. i don't think she would, completely. but she'd feel for her. she'd notice faith's distance.
scully often feels protective of younger women. women overall. she looks for the good in them. it's easy for her. she gets emotionally attached quickly. she makes a good agent. but her ties are often personal. even when she's not vocal about it: even when she doesn't notice them herself.
'give it a rest. that girl has had it rough.'
scully does have her values. justice and mercy. it goes a long way.
i think she'd want to be clean. she tries to not be biased. it's something she looks for in her work. it's something she tries to become. but that protectiveness... it comes along. especially around younger women. there's something fierce in her around it.
she'd notice faith's shell. quickly. the way she acts. talks. it'd be obvious that most of it was rooted in insecurities. fears.
she wouldn't support faith's actions. especially not her later s3 actions. but she'd be one of the people to actually root for her. scully can't support a criminal, not fully, but i think... she believes in the person faith can become, with the right means and the right help. ultimately, she believes in faith.
