15 - Drunkenly confessing feelings

The night had been perfect - a small get together with your closest friends, delicious food and even more delicious drinks, karaoke, and it took place in a beautiful vacation house to boot. By now your head was pleasantly buzzing, the night’s festivities catching up to you. The house you and your friends had rented had a gorgeous garden on the patio, the beautiful flowers and the cool air drawing you outside.

There were only 10 minutes left until the New Year began. Your thoughts drift as you look around the garden, the elegant floral arrangements and twisting vines reminding you of a certain someone - Noriaki. The two of you had been dancing around your feelings for months now, this night being no exception. The duet you’d drunkenly sung with him, cheeks flushed, had been a love duet chosen by your friends who were attempting to get one of you to make the first move.

Polnareff had confided in you that Kakyoin was still a little insecure and feared rejection. Though he could make the first move, it might take longer than you expected. You suffered from the same fear as him even though Avdol and Joseph had insisted that yes, Kakyoin did have feelings for you and to ask him out for the love of god. Jotaro didn’t have much to say, but his nod towards Avdol and Joseph when they told you was enough to let you know he approved.

You had been planning to do it tonight, but the right chance had never come up. You were glad to have your friends around, but it was impossible to get a moment alone with Kakyoin. You had planned to see if he wanted to head outdoors with you, but you couldn’t find him. With a sigh, you look up at the moon and wonder if tonight will be the night or not.

“Ah, I thought I’d find you out here.” Kakyoin’s soft voice pulls you away from the sky, your attention turned on him instead. His face and neck were flushed pink from the alcohol he’d consumed, but he still looked beautiful. You figured he was just tipsy now as neither of you had drunk too much, but his flushed state still made you smile. It was cute to see him let loose a little. “Mind if I sit?”

Kakyoin gestures towards the spot next to you and you pat it with a smile. “Of course not. Actually, I was looking for you earlier.”

Kakyoin sits down close enough so that your thigh is pressed against his, causing a pleasant warmth to flood your chest. He rests his chin on his hand, tilting his head. “Oh?”

“Well,” you start, glancing down at your feet. Your stomach tightens, but you push on with the liquid courage you had left. “I wanted to tell you that—”

You’re interrupted by the shout of ‘TEN’ from indoors, your eyes widening in surprise. The countdown! Kakyoin glances at you, his eyes falling to your lips for a split second before he joins in the countdown, albeit much quieter. With each number shouted out, the two of you inch closer and closer. By the time one second is left, you’re so close that you can feel his soft puffs of breath on your face.

Before you can shout ‘happy new years,’ Kakyoin closes the distance between you and plants a kiss square on your lips. Without hesitation you kiss him back, smiling into the kiss when you feel his hands gently cup your cheeks. When he pulls back, his face is cherry red, but there’s no denying the huge grin on his face.

“What did you want to talk to me about again?” Kakyoin says, grinning.

“You answered it for me, Noriaki.” You reply. Kakyoin chuckles before he leans in again, lips grazing against yours.

“I want to make sure you really heard my answer. Let’s do it again.”
