Fresh allegations of Israeli abuse of Palestinian prisoners are mounting up, and they’re horrific.
An Israeli analyst said guards and detainees are telling the same story about what’s happening inside places like Sde Teiman.
He spoke to two guards: one says he saw it himself, the other says everyone on staff knows about it.
One prisoner said he was tied naked to a metal bed and raped by a soldier and a dog while others filmed and mocked him.
And he’s not alone, human rights groups like PCHR and Euro-Med Monitor are documenting repeated accounts with the same pattern: stripped, taken away from cameras, then abused.
At this point, it’s not just “claims,” it’s a growing body of testimonies that all sound disturbingly similar.

I just want to highlight that of all the asks I get about Sde Teiman, people never acknowledge that OFFICERS WITHIN THE IDF ITSELF approved the leak of the videos that resulted in the world knowing about this and the legal proceedings now taking place against the perpetrators.

New testimonies reveal the r/pe of Palestinian detainees and the use of electric chairs at the Negev desert concentration camp. Following the initial report by CNN, which exposed the systematic abuse inside Sde Teiman, horrifying accounts of abuse continue to be corroborated.
These recent reports provide harrowing details of the extreme physical and psychological abuse inflicted upon Palestinian detainees. Multiple men reported being subjected to electric shocks while seated in wired chairs. One detainee, Mr Shaheen, described being shocked approximately half a dozen times during interrogations, leading to severe trauma and unconsciousness.
Testimonies of s*xual violence are also deeply distressing. One man recounted being forcibly pressed against a metal stick fixed to the ground, which penetrated his rectum, causing severe bleeding and unbearable pain.
Similar accounts were detailed in a leaked UNRWA report, where another detainee described the experience as sitting “on something like a hot metal stick,” which “felt like fire”. He recounted how a fellow detainee “died after they put the electric stick up” his anus.
35 Palestinian men have died at the site, or after being brought to nearby civilian hospitals, according to officers at the camp. They deny any died from abuse suffered there.

For the past 14 months, Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya has faced Israel’s war on Gaza’s health care system head-on, documenting to the world his fight as a physician to treat patients and keep his hospital in the north afloat despite constant bombardment, depleted humanitarian aid, a painful shrapnel injury and the killing of his own son.
On Friday, the Israel Defense Forces arrested him.
After nearly three months of daily Israeli attacks, soldiers stormed Kamal Adwan Hospital, killing dozens of people and detaining more than 240 others, including patients and medics. Captives were forced to strip and wait outside in winter temperatures before soldiers took them to Israeli prisons and interrogation centers, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
Among them was Abu Safiya, a pediatrician and hospital director and Gaza’s lead physician for the U.S.-based medical aid group MedGlobal.
Kamal Adwan was the last functioning hospital in North Gaza, as Israel continues to wall the region off from the rest of the Palestinian territory and from any kind of outside humanitarian assistance. Still, despite the resulting lack of resources and the increasing casualties, Abu Safiya managed to keep the hospital in Beit Lahia at least partially running ― expanding its bed capacity from 120 to 200, and regularly posting updates online to show the world what Kamal Adwan, its patients and its staff were enduring at the hands of the Israeli military.

“The IDF entered the hospital over the past year four times, and they interrogated [Abu Safiya] four times, and they searched every place in the hospital. So if there’s anything that could have been suspicious, they would have found it a long time ago,” Sahloul said. “So all of these talks about being [a] Hamas center and things like that is nonsense. No one believes these things anymore.”
Despite soldiers telling Abu Safiya that he was free to leave, the doctor reportedly refused to abandon his medical team at the hospital.
“He took all of us and wanted to get us out at night, but they yelled at him and arrested him,” nurse Waleed Al-Boudi told Middle East Eye, adding that Abu Safiya was taken captive at Al-Fakhoura School.
Israeli army footage of the arrest shows what appears to be the last time Abu Safiya was seen before his detention, with soldiers shaking his hand, addressing him as “Doctor” and having him enter their tank with them. Abu Safiya, still wearing his white coat, can be seen telling the soldiers that there is no one left inside Kamal Adwan Hospital.
Sahloul said the IDF would not confirm Abu Safiya’s whereabouts with MedGlobal, but that family and eyewitnesses said he was in Ofer prison with dozens of fellow medical workers before getting transferred to the notoriously brutal Sde Teiman prison. Groups like the World Health Organization, Amnesty International and the Council on American-Islamic Relations have demanded that Israeli forces release Abu Safiya from captivity and stop targeting Gaza’s hospitals and health care workers. Sahloul said that he and Abu Safiya’s family have asked U.S. President Joe Biden, Secretary of State Antony Blinken and President-elect Donald Trump to pressure the Israeli government to release the hospital director and his colleagues.
The State Department is “aware of reports and still gathering information,” a spokesperson told HuffPost on Monday, adding that claims of Hamas operating in hospitals present Israel with “an unusual burden” but that Israel should do more to curb civilian casualties. The agency did not say whether it would pressure Israel to release Abu Safiya.

Revealed: USAid officials meet Israeli counterparts at Sde Teiman base, where detainees say abuse runs rampant
Officials from the US’s main humanitarian agency attend daily meetings on an Israeli military base that also hosts a notorious prison for Palestinian detainees where torture reportedly runs rampant, the Guardian has learned.
According to three officials with the US Agency for International Development (USAid), Israel’s humanitarian relief hub began operating at the desert military base Sde Teiman on 29 July, with a regular US presence. USAid is tasked with facilitating urgently needed humanitarian assistance to Gaza.
The Guardian viewed an internal USAid document that referred to “the present JCB location on Sde Teiman IDF base”, located outside of Be’er Sheva in southern Israel. In the document, the base’s name links to its Wikipedia entry, which features photos of blindfolded Palestinian prisoners and details their mistreatment.
The sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told the Guardian that two USAid officials travel to Sde Teiman daily for JCB meetings with Israeli and UN officials.
“I can’t sleep at night knowing that it’s going on,” one US official told the Guardian. “It’s another form of psychological torture to make someone work there.”
Hello I hope it's cool for me to shoot you a question about something you added to a post yesterday (I think yesterday? the timestamp says 1 day ago so probably yesterday). You mentioned both sde teiman and tora liman as examples of anti-israeli hypocrisy. and since it was my first time seeing either of those names I of course googled them to get a better understanding of what they are, which got me the wiki articles for each place.
the thing is tho that each article was written very differently in a way that makes me wonder about how much I can trust either of them to give me an accurate idea of what went/goes on in them. like the one about tora liman was very barebones and matter of fact, and mentioned a hazing ritual that was done when inmates first got there, and the article made it sound like it only briefly happened in 2019 and they don't do it anymore.
while the article on sde teiman went into great details about all of the torture that went/goes on in it. talking about how often prisioners, including children with raped or sexually assaulted everyday. and that prisoners were usually kept handcuffed and blindfolded in cages, and that people were often detained without a warrant for at least 45 days. which all feels very horrible and not even remotely comparable to what was described about tora liman. but since I know antisemites love editing wiki I wondered how trustworthy the descriptions or facts are.
now the reason I'm messaging you is cause I'm sure to get reliable information I'd have to do a bunch of research that i just can't do for disability and chronic health reasons. but since you were the one who brought it up I thought you might be able to shed some light on things for me? and maybe link me to easy to read but reliable sources on what kinds of tortures happened at either place?

Yes, the primary reason the information on Egyptian sites is less known is because we've had to use satellite imagery and testimony by former inmates (which is not taken seriously by Egyptian authorities and which are still described in most sources as 'alleged')
to come to the same conclusions - however we do have enough obvious evidence of major, systemic mistreatment in the Tora ecosystem (including literal prisoner graveyards) - but the reason why it's less evident is because there are no Egyptian whistleblowers talking about it in great detail unlike Sde Taiman.
People get caught up on being so horrified about what they're hearing that they forget that it is actually extremely unusual to have this level of corroborated detail from actual officials involved in the system, and that this in and of itself is evidence that Israel is nowhere near "the worst regime" in the area.
We didn't get it from Abu Ghraib until they straight up plastered photographs on MSN (and the perpetrators still barely got any punishment whatsoever). People want to use this shit as some kind of proof that Israel is the worst most evil most unethical place on the entire planet when there are quite literally hundreds upon hundreds of places like Sde Teiman throughout the globe (and many, many such places in the Middle East specifically - how about Iran hunting 14 year olds to execute and nurses to rape?), because prison itself is an immoral environment there tend to be concentrated clusters of horrible, immoral activity within them.
Most prisons are rife with similar abuses including straight up prisons in North America as well (where rape by guards at juvenile detention facilities is well-known in the Ohio state system, and where prisoners basically have no human rights and can be treated like modern day slaves - something that is actually protected in the constitution of the united states - but which gets absolutely no air time by the same people angry that a politician said COs had the right to rape detainees lol. Idk boss I think a constitutional amendment to preserve the right of the state to enslave prisoners is pretty fucking bad, too!)
