- I run a mental health support group on Discord called Treehouse, the politics is kept low-key, moderates and progressives and allies are all allowed, people of all races, religions, sexualities, genders, etc are welcome. Our bread and butter is trauma and disorders that are caused by trauma such as cluster B personality disorders, OCD, certain psychotic features, attachment disorders, dissociative disorders, etc.

Common Questions
What is antisemitism?
"Antisemitism is a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews. Rhetorical and physical manifestations of antisemitism are directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property, toward Jewish community institutions and religious facilities." IHRA, International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance
Antisemitism is spelled as one word, without the dash, as it is not bigotry against all Semites (Arabs + Jews), it is solely about Jews.
Is antisemitism the same as antizionism?
The 3-Ds of antisemitism are Demonization, Delegitimization and Double-Standards. If your criticism of Israel doesn't apply to any other country, if the way you talk about Israelis doesn't match how you talk about Russians, Iranians, Chinese, etc. then it is antisemitism.
What antisemitism is not
Criticism of Israel on its own (i.e. crimes, gov't, policies)
Palestinian self-determination
Palestinian flags, pride, culture
Criticism of religious Judaism (i.e. trauma, harm)
Is accusing Arabs/Muslims of antisemitism racist/Islamophobic?
It is racist to accuse Arabs of being de facto antisemites.
It is racist to presume Arabs are all Muslim as well.
It is not racist to acknowledge that Islam is foundationally taken from Jewish texts and histories, which have been misinterpreted and abused to justify antisemitic violence. It is not racist to hold Islam accountable for the imperialism that pervades its evangelical arm.
Just like it isn't racist to do the same for Christianity. And we hold this standard for Judaism as well. Just like it isn't antisemitic to criticize the harms that Jewish religion has caused for others (such as LGBT), it isn't Islamophobic to do the same. This post by @dancinbutterfly explains it so succinctly:
How prevalent is antisemitism?
It's baked-in to two of the world's major religions, Christianity and Islam. Unfortunately that means antisemitism is the de facto sentiment of a majority of the world's population. Antisemitism is one of the oldest, longest hatreds. That means we are often subjected to historical revisionism, such as denying the severity of the Holocaust, or publishing encyclopedias, textbooks, as "information" with clearly antisemitic content pasted over real events.
A good example is a look at the Wikipedia article for what Zionism is. This clearly shows that Wikipedia is being subjected to antisemitic historical revisionism and vandalism.
What is the alt-left?
We will use the BITE model for indoctrination as popularized by Steven Hassan in Combating Cult Mind Control. BITE stands for Behavior, Information, Thought, Emotion. The most common form of indoctrination is called a thought-terminating cliche, or a fallacy-fallacy.
For example:
P1: "Israel is committing genocide!"
P2: "How many people have Russia killed so far"
P1: "500,000"
P2: "Do you think Russia is committing genocide?
Should we eject Putin from the UNSC?"
P1: "That's whataboutism!"
Resist this "whatabousim" idea, as it is designed to terminate all objections to clear hypocrisy. Hypocrisy is different than whataboutism, because it is a double standard, one of the 3-Ds of antisemitism.
So what is Zionism?
Zionism is the acknowledgment that Jews are the indigenous population of Israel, who have a right to self-determination in their homeland. Zionism is extremely broad. Some people don't even require Israel to be the Jewish country (their goal is simply safety and community for Jews world-wide, in Some Place), but this is a more secular argument.
Some people believe Zionism is only applicable to Jews (i.e. you cannot call yourself a Zionist if you are not a Jew), others are OK with goyim using the term as well. You'll have to feel that out, as both sides of the equation have a right to exist. Personally I use Zionism in as broad a definition as possible, so it does include non-Jews, with the exception of Messianic Christians, and evangelical hoo-hah.
When you're discussing Zionism with a Jew, especially as a non-Jew, you need to listen to what they describe Zionism as. It is de-legitimizing (another of the 3-Ds) to claim that Jews can't be trusted to point out antisemitic rhetoric. Jews define antisemitism, and we define Zionism. They are words about us, for us.
In some cases people will say wrong dumb shit, so refer back to the first part of what antisemitism isn't. E.g. if someone (even a fellow Jew) says holding a Palestinian flag is antisemitic, they are actually being antisemitic themselves.
Is goy a slur?
No, in fact the term "gentile" was popularized by the KKK. Gentile is based off of a Christian scholar's interpretation of the term goy (Saint Jerome). Goy simply means "nations", as in non-Jewish people. Goyim/goy is not a slur. Some people might use it derogatorily, the same way Black people might speak negatively about white folks who have been racist to them.
It's still not a slur. We prefer to use goy because it is our word, we like it, and it doesn't have a history of being lobbed at us by mask-wearing wizard KKK freaks. Terms like "zio", "zionazi" etc are also slurs developed by David Duke.
You're a conservative who believes in prison abolition and social justice blah khadl blargo de glarm hlblehgah?
Conservative Judaism is a progressive, egalitarian denomination of Judaism. We believe in conserving the spirit of the Torah, but produce adaptive Responsa as we gain more scientific and social understanding. it is not Republican/political conservatism.
Why do you post all these gibberish asks by idiots?
That's actually the reason I am here! To do outreach to people who are brainrotted. I was an extreme kid. I was indoctrinated into a violent armed gang at age 8, and we had a lot of the same ideology.
Violence is cool, and our enemies should die and be hurt, brutality should be rewarded, etc. I want to dismantle this pipeline. I want to use my experiences to be a force for good, because that gives meaning to my life.
But I get that it's annoying to constantly read bullshit, so you don't have to follow me!
Is Israel committing genocide?
I've decided to update this conclusively to no. There is no genocide in history that has ever ended with the genocidal party negotiating a peace deal and releasing thousands of terrorists and criminals in exchange for 20 civilian hostages.
All genocides that have ever occurred in human history only ended when the genocidal party was militarily defeated or when they completed their goal of extermination.
Palestinians are not exterminated and Israel was not defeated, they voluntarily withdrew after the return of our hostages. Genocidal rhetoric is not genocide. Speech is not genocide. Crazy Kahanist far right religious extremists spewing gibberish is not genocide.
War crimes and crimes against humanity have been committed. Genocide is a war crime. Not all war crimes are genocide. If future evidence is shown that Israel violated the Genocide Convention as it was written on October 7th 2023 then I will change this answer to yes.
As it stands, the answer is no.
What are your political beliefs?
I believe that money ruined our species and I think money is a bullshit, made-up concept and that people should not need to be forced into making a living to get paper so that they can eat food and have a house. This is ridiculous. Jobs and capitalism are inherently eugenicist and anti-disabled, if you can't "produce" then you're a worthless piece of shit, and that's dumb as fuck.
I identify as Jewish, politically and consider partisan politics to be goyische and not something that has any bearing on me, my people, or holds any interest in my wellbeing as a Jewish person. Kol Yisrael Arevim Ze Bazeh - All Jews Are Responsible For One Another. I am a religious Jew, so I believe in a rational application of halacha as ordered through Conservative responsa, updating with the times to ensure the least amount of harm possible.
I'm an "anarchist-lite," and boy howdy does that piss a lot of people off. What it means is that I believe in some foundational anarchist principles such as mutual aid and tight-knit, clustered communities. Agriculture civilized us, but it's also based on slavery, which is the core rot of our society as a human species. We only have empathy for 200 people max, governing millions of people, a majority of them are outside that empathy sphere.
Unfortunately, reversing this would cause more suffering, so I don't believe in dismantling our society or returning to stateless communities. Instead, I believe that there ought to be leadership based on the principle of consensus, and particularly tribal leadership styles where elders and respected teachers come together to argue and discuss until an agreement is reached.
If an agreement can't be reached, then it will be tabled until such time as there is an agreement. I think humans ought to live in smaller communities based on ideology, and free immigration/emigration should be encouraged to avoid Westermarcking (i.e. kibbutzim kids). But obviously that is theoretical and not actionable.
As it stands, I believe in electing fair representatives who prioritize indigenous people (including Jews first and foremost as they are my tribe), Black people, LGBT, disabled people, and marginalized people in general.
This ties in with my stance about AI. I support Universal Basic Income and price controls on companies so they can't out-price the UBI. Where people might get tetchy, is that I do not support traditional styles of egalitarian democracy. Instead, I prefer tribal council based consensus-style leadership, a la Haudenosaunee Confederacy.
I oppose religious fascism (Islamism, Christofascism, etc). I believe it is possible for Muslims and Christians to be allies to Jews but that this allyship involves listening critically, and not speaking over Jewish people or rushing to say "I wouldn't do that!" or whatever else. Christianity and Islam are inherently colonial ideologies and if you are not willing to hold your beliefs accountable for that, then we will not get along.
I support A Land For All when it comes to Israel/Palestine as it has bipartisan support in Israel which means it is the most likely solution to actually gain traction. I consider myself a pragmatic progressive, and have some right-leaning and some left-leaning beliefs.
I believe in freedom of speech, the right to self-defense, and self-determination in one's ancestral homeland. I believe in Land Back, but not in a violent decolonization. I center indigenous people and Jewish allies in my politics including the Minceir, Druze, Persian (and other ethnic minority) Iranians, Roma, Hindus, etc.
Why do you choose to live in Canada?
Have you got a job yet?
If I could make aliyah, I absolutely would. I am far too poor and disabled as it is. Give me a million dollars and I'll happily emigrate.
Have you gotten a hobby yet? Writing I <3 Weemie in your diary every day doesn't count.
You're ugly.
Every time I get an ask that calls me ugly, I take even more #selfies and get even more powerful.
"Stop scrolling and please help me spread the word, because if I've landed on your page you're most likely either a black woman or someone who cares about black women and the simple phrase I'm about to share could help save a black woman's life.
Doctors are to black women what police officers are to black men. That may seem controversial but I believe it to be true and I speak from personal experience.
If you've seen this TikTok you know that a 2016 study showed that 50% of medical students and residents thought that black people couldn't feel pain the same as white people.
And we learned from this video that because of a 1999 study, to this day, there's a black correction factor for the creatinin levels in black people's kidneys, meaning we're less likely to recieve a kidney transplant if needed.
So if you go to a doctor, feel you aren't getting proper treatment or they refuse the treatment you've requested, say to them the following:
I will need you to document on record that you are refusing the treatment (or medicine) I've requested, and the reason you are doing so."
This works. I have used it in other situations. If medical staff have to document and take responsibility and be on the hook legally for doing shady shit they behave much differently.
If you weren’t already going to spread this advice because black women are at risk, then spread it because it’s applicable to everyone else as well, including you reading this.
But particularly women, and especially black women.
Problem is they will "document it" but say "pt was a hysterical heroin junkie/drug seeker" or whatever shit make them look good and you look insane.
Doctors are already on Reddit making fun of patients who say shit like this, i legit just saw a thread of them mocking ppl who say this, word for word.
Hits different when u know it's black folk or women or chronic pain patients in agony trying to get some accountability and not "moron wants me to write down why I rejected prescribing him ivermectin for covid-19" like the docs make it out to be.
They will literally just lie. It's not a terrible idea or anything I just already know these racist mfs gonna lie. In America you may have access to a patient portal and u might be able to leave notes. If that's true for u, access the portal after ur visit and summarize what happened including why the doctor refused u.
That way your own words are attached to your medical records. But even still I imagine docs will just laugh and still do fuck all. Might help if u ever sue them tho. Also in some cases in the US you can request amendments to ur notes and submit statements of disagreement, this stuff u gotta go thru patient advocacy routes.
Helpful if doctors try to say some bullshit like "pt was combative, dx borderline" or some shit and its a woman who got mad at him one time lol.
jsyk the op of the post about jewish music you reblogged is a zionist
Okay, sure, let's have it out. I imagine I'll pretty much piss off everyone with this.
First: the only confidence I have in my understanding of the political situation of the Middle East is that I have no fucking understanding whatsoever of the political situation in the Middle East. Sure, I've read plenty. I have friends of many many stripes. But I'm not a victim of the Dunning-Kruger effect here, folks: I know enough to know how much I don't know, and how much I know is tons.
Second, you say that person is a "zionist." There are three things I find pretty annoying about this as a defense attorney. One is that the term is not defined, and the other is that there is a complete lack of evidence. The third is the implicit assumption that being a "zionist" is enough to wholeheartedly condemn anyone.
Let's tackle these one by one. And, once again, I am neither a scholar of Jewish history nor Middle Eastern history nor anything except American criminal law.
First: definition. There are many possible meanings of zionist that I see people use. One potential meaning of "zionist" seems to be "is Jewish, but fails to disavow Israel as fast and loud as I personally want them to." Sometimes the meaning of "zionist" is just "is Jewish." Sometimes it's "a Jewish person who wishes for a return to a very distant ancestral homeland." Sometimes it's "wholehearted supporter of Israel's war crimes." A lot of pointless arguing, it seems to me, is centered around someone saying they are zionist, i.e., they would like Jewish people to someday have a nice homeland where they don't feel like a strange political chunk in another country, and another person hears that they are zionist, i.e. they enjoy wholesale slaughter of civilians.
Second: No evidence. Self-explanatory. You are an anon. I don't know why I'm supposed to trust your word. I read police reports for a living and I am supposed to be able to trust them, and let me tell you how many lies they contain.
Third: the assumption of condemnation. I literally defend the human rights of sex criminals in court. I defend murderers. What we are talking about, right now, at best, is a human person expressing an opinion, however potentially damaging and offensive (depending on definition of zionism and truth of accusation). Do you think I'm gonna say that Jewish people who express an opinion are inhuman and deserve segregation from the rest of us?
Do you think I'm ever going to stop reaching out my hand to people who use violence? Do you think I'm ever going to lose the hope that someday they will lose the fear that makes them resort to violence?
Finally, now that I've spent some time listing my problems with your case, so what.
Let's use an example closer to home. I'm an American, and I do in fact believe that America is a nation and will continue to be so, and that tearing down all government to give it back to indigenous people (something that is, to be clear, to my understanding, not comparable with any kind of political situation in Israel) is not possible as things stand. And yet nobody's here interrogating me about Donald Trump and his bombing of Iran or whether I support ICE's jackbooted thuggery.
A little further from home? If I met a Russian person, my first ask would not be "Tell me in detail your thoughts on Ukraine and Putin."
And in those two examples, I myself and this hypothetical Russian person are actually members of the country in question that is doing the thing. A Jewish person who is not Israeli isn't even that.
Listen. I think there's a lot to be unpacked about how the insularity of Jewish culture and the separateness of it from the countries where it lives is both in the interest of continuing the Jewish ethnicity and in the interest of the people who want Jewish people exterminated, and how the double-pull of those two interests maintain a tension that otherwise might dissipate. I think there's something real to be analyzed about how modern anti-semitism isn't a recurrence of medieval anti-semitism but a different thing, a sign of fascist thinking.
I think there is a horrific tragedy for everyone involved that the group who was decimated beyond belief in the blackest events in human history now has a very loud and visible nation channeling their survival into rage and violence.
I think that there are lots of Arab nations around Israel that would gladly see every person in it subject to that same rage and violence, and I'm not down with that shit either.
I think the history of who colonized who and when and what pogroms did what and how violence and why are all too fucking complicated to untangle.
I think the only way truly forward for Israel and Palestine is some kind of truth and reconciliation type thing and that Israel as it stands is too scared to see all their atrocities come to light.
I was raised atheist with college professor parents, so you can bet Jewish people in academia were part of my life from an early age. I don't understand antisemitism literally at all. It's completely incomprehensible to me. I also think Arab culture is gorgeous and studied Arabic in college. I don't discount the idea that I have subconscious biases; I've done my best to unpick them, but it's lifelong work.
The whole goddamn clusterfuck is a great example of why violence begets violence begets violence. I reject the idea that One Final Ass-Kicking on anyone's part will solve any one of these problems. The only thing that ends violence is not choosing violence. And that can't happen until enough people in and out of power want the violence to stop. There. Not here. There. It can't be imposed from outside. It has to come from within.
And that's a decision -- I must add -- that I seriously could not have less to do with. White Americans should not be making any of the related decisions.
Here endeth the essay, with one final note.
My Jewish friends are safe on this blog. My Arab friends are safe on this blog. That's all.
Okay you might not be a scholar on the conflict, but this is unironically the best take that someone not a party to the conflict itself can take right now. To call for peace and stability and not be an accelerant to the conflict.
It is best for the civilians caught in the middle to not encourage the continuatiin of violence. And it is best for those of us drowning in the splash effect as the whole world (minus you and a few others) have gleefully turned on Jews.
You are also giving a sign of hope, which has been rapidly disapearing, about the possibility of being able to safely live in the US.
As a Jewish American, and a Jewish woman I can't emphasize enough how reassuring this response was and how grateful I am to see it.
op this was great beside for this one point which must be made very clear.
and how the double-pull of those two interests maintain a tension that otherwise might dissipate
this was tested already. it is called the shoah. german Jews were THE most assimilated. they were germans first, jews second (moses mendelsohns jew at home, german in the street thing, and many of them were barely jews at home).
assimilation has never been a defense against jew hatred. in fact. nothing is. jew haters will hate us regardless of what we do. thus, we should not give up our identities and values and squeeze into a box that will be lit on fire anyway.
Another thing that bothers me is the notion that "zionist" may have many different definitions. It doesn't.
Zionism is the acknowledgement that Israel is the homeland of the Jewish people (historical fact) and that we deserve to live and to have self-determination in our homeland.
Any other definition (e.g. wants to kill all the Arabs) is made up by people who want to create the illusion that zionism is some sinister ideology, in order to defend their "antizionism", which is just antisemitism with a shiny new coat of paint.
In OP's defense on the meaning of Zionism thing, what they said is: "There are many possible meanings of zionist that I see people use." I interpreted this with emphasis on that last phrase, so that it could be paraphrased less ambiguously as: "I see people use the word 'Zionist' to mean many different things." That can be true even while it is also true that the range of correct or authoritative meanings of 'Zionist' is much narrower (and none of them include anything about support for war crimes or killing all Arabs).
And for any would-be linguistic descriptivists out there who want to say that if enough people start using a word to mean something new, the meaning just changes because the only "correct" meaning is in how people use it: that might apply to common words like 'meat' (which used to be a generic term for food and then specialized to refer to animal flesh considered as food) or 'awesome' (which used to specifically mean 'awe-inspiring' but now is just used as an expression of strong approval), but it does not apply to specialized words like scientific or legal terms where the meaning is fixed by the usage of a much smaller community of experts. It also does not apply -- or should not apply -- to culturally specific terms which originate with a particular cultural group in reference to some aspect of their identity or experience. The meaning of the word 'Zionist' is determined by how Jewish people use it in reference to their (our) national aspirations; its authoritative meaning does not -- must not -- depend on how outsiders misappropriate it.
(For the same reason, I really wish people would use 'hakenkreuz' instead of 'swastika' to refer to the Nazi symbol, but I know that's a losing battle...)
^ This is correct re: definition of zionism. I didn't say anything about the correct definition or which definitions are antisemitic propaganda because I was critiquing one thing at a time and at that point I was engaging in legalistic nitpicking.
And just a note with regard to assimilation: again I am not an expert and y'all undoubtedly know more about history, but the undercurrent here feels like y'all anticipate me blaming Jewish choices for anti-Jewish violence. This is not how I roll. Violence is the fault of the perpetrators. Causation -- why the perpetrators did the violence -- can be a topic of discussion without ignoring that basic reality.
So when I talk about 'assimilation', it's not with any assumption or judgment: that shit is not by default good or necessary, and it's not an automatic goal. I'm not the Borg.
I am not saying you are blaming Jewish choices/actions as a cause for violence.
What I am saying is that there genuinely is not legit causation to jew hate. Ever. It is ALWAYS another excuse which is simply used as a (bad) cover up for the simple "cause" of hating Jews.
ppl are violent for many different reasons and we can talk about those reasons (especially in the service of rehabilitating violent offenders) without saying they are justified to commit violence (which I dont think op was saying ftr).
But to be clear Jew hatred is literally just lizard brain racist gibberish. ppl try to say it's about ideology, religion, the economy, Jews are XYZ, they made us lose the World Cup, they poisoned the well, they caused the plague, they ate little Timmy (then threw him down the well for good measure), they're disloyal Zionists, they killed Jesus, they're colonialist genocidaires, or this or that.
It's all an excuse. Ppl are violent against Jews because they enjoy being violent against Jews. And they enjoy violence bcos their neurology/physiology is primed in such a way as to either reward violent behavior (and this happens for many reasons both environmental and genetic/biological), or they don't view Jews as human and thus don't view their behavior as violence.
Instead of Leaving This Hate Comment You Could Read This Book!
People Without History Are Dust
Queerness remains one of the most stigmatized and overlooked aspects of Holocaust history, often erased due to the lingering homophobia of survivors. People Without History Are Dust challenges this silence, weaving together compelling stories of German, Dutch, Czech, and Polish Jewish Holocaust victims and survivors - including Anne Frank, Molly Applebaum, Margot Heuman, and Gad Beck - whose experiences help illuminate the hidden history of queerness in a time of genocide.
Drawing on extensive archival research, this groundbreaking book uncovers the lives of those who were doubly marginalized, not only persecuted as Jews but also as queer individuals. In doing so, it confronts the ways in which history has excluded or minimized their experiences, urging us to question normative accounts of the Holocaust.
By shedding light on these long-overlooked stories, People Without History Are Dust deepens our understanding of identity, survival, and memory, reminding us why an inclusive and complex approach to history is essential - not just for the sake of the past, but in service to the present and the future as well.
Hey @makingqueerhistory, this author claimed that a Holocaust survivor had an affair with a Nazi guard without proof that it actually happened. That is incredibly disrespectful to the survivor named and her family. Claiming that ANY Jew was in love with a Nazi is psychologically damaging. The lie that Jews seduced Nazis or fell in love with their captors is repulsive and Jews have been fighting back against such stories for ages. It's not homophobia to acknowledge that. A Jewish woman sleeping with a male Nazi would be just as damning to her family. It is shameful in our community. It's especially distressing when there's no real evidence that the affair happened, and that the woman's family said as much. It's not like there were letters between the two women, or anything with real proof.
Frankly, the fact that Hajokva promised to use a pseudonym and then used the woman's real name and photograph in promotional material is such an ethical breach. This is very basic stuff. If a source requests anonymity when talking about something as complex and damning as a Jew sleeping with a Nazi, you should honor that.
That's not even touching on assigning a sexuality to a Jewish child who didn't live long enough to decide whether she was queer or not. She was murdered for being Jewish. Plain and simple. Her sexuality was never a factor in her death, regardless of whether or not she was bisexual.
Please don't promote this book and the utter disrespect of Hajkova.
How many times do we have to say, as queer Jews ourselves, to leave the questions of a dead Jewish girl as her own questions and not voyeuristically assign answers for her.
As for "holocaust survivor has affair with a Nazi guard" that is literally a trope in post war Nazi apologia to sanitise the violence inherent in *Jew during the holocaust exchanges sex for survival*, a circumstance that happened a lot, you don't have to be a genius to understand that.
There are actually books celebrating Jewish queerness in history that don't do either of those things.
"none of these words are in the bible" you don't know that. we don't know for sure what every hapax legomenon strictly translates to. maybe "קִפוֹז" means "klance foot kink pwp." you don't know that.
Another part of people love dead Jews is that they love worshipping famous dead Jews who were critical of Israel but ultimately supported it existing in some form ( though they love leaving out that last part) while at the same time calling for the death of modern day famous Jews who have criticized Israel but ultimately support it existing in some form
Or Jews who supported Israel existing/were zionist and would have criticized it's mistakes while continuing to support its existence because that's basically what they did prior to it being a thing, but just have that part quietly brushed under the rug by their 'fans', like Emma Lazarus or Albert Einstein.
"Accusations of rape ruin men's lives and careers."
You only have to look at how many footballers who have rape accusations against them that happily represent their countries in huge tournaments like the World Cup without anyone really giving a shit to see what bollocks that is.
Women are rarely taken seriously, rarely believed, rarely stood up for, especially when their abusers are rich and famous.
2026 FIFA World Cup players who’ve been accused of rape and/or physical abuse:
Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal), Achraf Hakimi (Morocco), Thomas Partey (Ghana), Gonzalo Montiel (Argentina), Thiago Almada (Argentina), Junya Ito (Japan), Kaishu Sano (Japan), Ryan Mendes (Cabo Verde).
At least one of these men, Thomas Partey, is currently actively awaiting criminal trial on seven charges of rape and sexual assault but was still able to play at one of the largest sporting events in the world.
The UFC just featured Conor McGregor who raped a woman so violently she needed surgery to fix it. He was given millions of dollars to fall over four times in a row on live television lmao
The guy who just lost in Wimbledon choked his gf. I forget what his name is. Sinner won against him. They had him on the microphone going on and on about his "journey"
The amount of people (mostly men, it does have to be said) I’ve seen falling over themselves going on about how great Conor McGregor is truly sickening. And when others have pointed out that he’s a violent rapist found liable in court, there were the usual comments of “who cares?” “she was lying” “she just wanted money.” Literally anything can and will be excused as long as a man makes enough money and women are, as usual, cast as lying, money hungry whores.
It's utterly fucking obscene. It was a bit of Schadenfreude though because he legit didn't even fight.
He fell over and injured his broken leg again which will likely be a permanent disability, he literally just fell straight over 4 times in a row. Max Holloway was looking at the ref like "do I keep punching him or what?" lmao. He was utterly humiliated.
But the shittiest part about it is that he still got millions of dollars and everybody is still praising him and showering him in sympathy. Like no man, you deserved every bit of it and more lol. I hope everybody laughs at you forever, dipshit. Maybe you'll need surgery like the girl you fucking assaulted.
If we can't get justice, we should at LEAST be allowed to shame these chodes. Having it affect their careers is the least we can do if they aren't being put in prison. I'm an outside observer, I'm not into the sports, my ma is which is how I know this stuff - you couldn't fucking pay me to watch Conor McGregor lmao.
but just watching this shit show from the sidelines I cringed and cringed listening to him trying to be all tough and macho in the interviews lmao. What a fucking wanker.
"Accusations of rape ruin men's lives and careers."

About ten, fifteen years ago I wrote a story about a guy living in a Capitalist dystopia. His walls, furniture, and tableware are all covered in smart displays. Basically animated wallpaper. It's sold as being able to turn your room or objects into anything - A nice forest view, outer space, a fantasy realm... but the companies that run this stuff keep sneaking ads in.
It gets so bad he's always being woken up by adverts that offer insomnia cures and better bedding that play when he tries to sleep.
So he buys the ad-free tier, and it's great... for a few months. And then he starts getting adverts from 'premium partners'. So he goes up a level... and the same thing happens.
So he jailbreaks his wallpaper and sends all the ad servers to 0.0.0.0 and voila... he can sleep.
Until this SWAT team blows his door off and drag him off to jail. The Ad companies are suing him for loss of revenue for the products he' notionally have bought if he'd watched their adverts, based on some weird 'The average consumer buys X products with an average value of Y' calculation.
The judge is like 'well I dun wanna annoy the sponsors' so he RICO's this guy's house and possessions and sends him to jail.
... which is a nice relaxed non-volent offender jail for the corporately disenfranchised. But because these people have no money... there's no ads and now he's happy because the only place he's free... is in prison.
Which at the time was a bit much and now it's like: Called it.
Elon's suing companies for not advertising because he's losing revenue. He's also cranking the price of Ad Free Twitter. Disney and Amazon play adverts on their paid service when services used to be free because of the adverts... and now you have to pay to watch the adverts or go up a couple of tiers.
And google's going around freaking out about ad-blockers.
SLIGHT tangent but I promise it's relevant: sadly many real prisoners in the real life usa are also having to deal with
-visits being banned in favor of video calls that still require your loved ones to come to the prison and never see you irl (and you are charged by the MINUTE for these calls)
-pay-by-the-minute access to BOOKS
-being banned from buying literally anything except from overpriced commisaries that charge hugely inflated prices to their LITERALLY captive customer base
-often being subject to extremely underpaid and unpaid slave labor, often in extremely dangerous conditions
-dangerously inedible food provided and many necessities of life insufficiently or even not provided at all, in order to keep the captive customer base buying stuff
-ntm in prison you can be forced to work as a slave for years in a job that you will be unable to do for pay after prison, bc they don't actually PAY for your work if you have a criminal record
and that's only just touching on the more economic aspects!!
unfortunately in real life having no money is almost never an escape for anything 😭
if you want to know what dystopian direction capitalism will take next for people like you, look at what's happening to systematically vulnerablized people, especially those in prisons.
sorry ik this may feel slightly beside the point, but it is genuinely a really good idea to pay attention what is happening in the prisons!!
both because prisoners deserve our solidarity, and also because these corporations are constantly testing stuff on prisoners that they will try to do to you 10 years later.

I WAS FUCKING WONDERING WHAT THOSE DIGITAL PRICE TAGS WERE ABOUT SUDDENLY i had hoped they were so the workers didn't have to finagle those little papers into the slider part anymore 😭
Hi, yes, that is the OFFICIAL excuse made to me by the guy replacing the paper tags with digital ones at my local Walmart, but the end goal is to remove the numbers off the shelf entirely, replacing them with QR codes that you have to scan with the app…. Which requires your login information….. and also stores your card information so even if you didn’t use your Walmart account at the physical checkout, if you used a card they recognize, they assign that purchase to your Walmart account purchase history.
I explained very clearly to the manager my issue with the meat section not having the price tags listed, and they claimed it was only going to be for the meat, since meat is by weight, and the price of each item is printed on the packs of each item.
Sure. That’s how they get their foot in the door. Fast forward not even two weeks, and here we are:
Bar codes. No prices, no item descriptions. No price stickers on the individual items. Heck, not even the name of the item that is SUPPOSED to be there.
No. The only way to see the price is to scan it on your phone app, which is also recording what you looked at recently, as a way of gauging what you might be looking for in the future.
So here’s what we’re gonna do gang:
Every time you go into a store that has implemented these price-less tags:
Take 1-3 items up to the cash register. Ask the cashier for the price, or hit the price check item on the self checkout, which will likely call over the attendant.
Express that you didn’t actually want it, you just couldn’t see on the shelf how much it was.
POLITELY, AND WITH A THANK YOU FOR THE PRICE CONFIRMATION, Give the items to the cashier or attendant to put back.
When they inevitably try to push the app, politely decline. If pressed for why not, say you don’t want to have to carry your phone in-hand the whole time you are shopping in order to see how much things cost. (Not having cell service or data to use the app is NOT a valid excuse, as stores already often have complimentary WiFi AND more stores will provide WiFi rather than give up on this push for surveillance pricing)
If it’s a shelf-stable item, the cashier will have to set it aside, taking up room in their limited operating space, and eventually pass it off to someone to put in a holding area to put back later. If it’s a fridge/freezer item, it might have to get tossed due to food product sale regulations.
In either case, you are making it a pain in the ass for them to have these digital bar codes. Tie up the checkouts. Give the employees more busywork that the company has to pay them to do. Hurt their bottom line having to toss the pint of ice cream you carried around in your cart for 20 minutes before giving it back to the cashier.
Yes, call your reps. Yes, push for more legislation like this in more places. But also take an extra minute out of your shopping trip to MAKE IT HURT for companies to pull this shit.
I've seen some people in the notes express (very fair) concern that this is only going to inconvenience already under-paid laborers, and not have any impact on corporate. While I can't speak for every company or every store, I do work in a grocery store and I can tell you this is precisely the kind of thing that would have an impact, especially if people are doing it en masse. Stores absolutely track their shrink numbers, and they do draw distinctions between what gets stolen, damaged, or wasted for other reasons. If people are making it clear that the reason they're bringing things to the cashier is that the prices are not adequately represented on the displays, and rather than improving business it's wasting product, slowing down transactions, and causing confusion and mistrust in customers, that is a language that shareholders speak.
I worked in retail for years. If this had happened while I was working retail, I would have been delighted and felt great solidarity with anyone who was wasting my employer's time and money and giving me busy work as an act of protest. In point of fact every moment the employee spends carting items back to the shelves is a moment not spent standing at a register.
