Panel Discussion: Rescuing the Sustainable Development Goals The pandemic, climate change, global instability, and what the UN’s Global Crisis Response Group is calling the “greatest cost-of-living increase in a generation have pushed millions of people back into poverty, damaged societies, and reduced our collective capacity to tackle climate change and other deep systemic changes. Staying the current course will lead to unprecedented convulsions within decades, putting at even greater risk all the gains of the last century against poverty, disease, and other inequities. For example, the pandemic alone disrupted education across the world for over 200 million children, With experts forecasting that by 2030, 825 million children will leave the classroom without even the most basic skills needed for decent jobs, the goals are not a ‘feel good list - they are a ‘must do’ job for a world that works for all of us. Policymakers and business leaders alike must invest in sustainable opportunities for a more prosperous future that leaves no one behind. Meaningful participation and the Global Framework are well structured all we need is action-oriented stretigies Stop talking start Acting. #TBT to this time last week when @MediaForCC, in collaboration with the Embassy of Sweden invited me to speak to representatives from 30 NGO's on "The Role of New Media in Achieving the SDGs. My entire talk was centered on three points: 1. Why makes you different? We all know the problem we want to solve, but drill down and find the niche that you can focus on and gives the media a new angle to that problem. Be the repository of data and knowledge on that niche. @akinalabi explained this beautifully with an analogy on restaurants vs amala spots. 2. Document everything. Write your vision and track your journey so you can grow/build trust with your audience and have clarity on potential collaborations. 3. Collaborate. Efficient way to get more returns on your spend, share data and resources, save your organisation the struggle of trying to solve every problem, combine forces (for instance consigning an FOI request), and build credibility by association. I had a great time, always good fun for me to share, to teach, and to meet new people. And this was a really cool group! #WatchMeWork #MediaGirl #MediaForChange #SDGAction https://www.instagram.com/p/Bzf2jf_nj8U/?igshid=1394qrntrnc9l
#SDGs Goal 3: Good Health And Well-Being Poor health constitutes suffering and deprivation of the most fundamental kind. Over the years, significant strides have been made in increasing life expectancy and reducing some of the common killers associated with child and maternal mortality. Despite global progress, an increasing proportion of child deaths occur in sub-Saharan Africa and Southern Asia. Globally, the incidence of major infectious diseases has declined since 2000, including HIV/AIDS, malaria, and TB, but the challenge of these and new pandemics remains in many regions of the world #Poor #health #GoodHealth #WellBeing #Goal3 #mortality #sdgactiontour #Braziliandelegation #sdg #diseases #odsnarealidade #ods#socialinnovation #socialimpact #inovacaosocial #impactosocial #youth#goldenyear #unitednation#Globalyouth #SDGAction
