OH MAN uhhhhh so im just really tired of the ‘scandinavian actors being used as a (russian) villain in hollywood films’ trope, as well as the ‘lets cast mads mikkelsen as A Villain’ trope. in the us you see articles like “here’s the science behind mads looking so scary”, whereas here he’s the face of carlsberg (bc mads is an attractive man who makes people want to buy shit) and cast in a lot of more diverse roles. he’s an incredible talented actor (heck, he’s battling himself for best actor right now in some award shows for druk and retfærdighedens ryttere) and there’s a lot more potential for him on the international market than just this stereotypical cookie cutter idea of Scary Foreign Man. but also mi has been doing really well about this and trying to start going against the stereotype a bit & i’d hate to see them fall right back into clichés.
