Advent Drabble 19 - Yarn

The Doctor comes upon the TARDIS’s craft closet unexpectedly, overflowing with random art supplies the kids might need.

“Did you know the TARDIS has a craft closet now?” the Doctor asks Rose.

“Yes. Where did you think the kids got everything?”

The Doctor never thinks – not really – about where things on the TARDIS come from. “You know, I could have done with an unlimited supply of yarn back when I was teaching myself how to knit.”

“You know how to knit? I’d love a new scarf for Christmas, then.”

“I’m not saying I succeeded at teaching myself how to knit.”

Okay I have done a TRUE DRABBLE and got this in at 100 words exactly. 87 is Sight of You by Sigrid.

The airline lost my luggage, still got all this weight And all the things I'm done with are showin' up again

“Dex? What the hell are you doing in New York?” Nursey asked, bewildered. “And at like midnight?”

“I was trying to surprise you and go to your big poetry reading,” Dex said. He looked miserable. “But the flight came in late. And then they lost my suitcase. I had to give them a local address for if they find it tonight, so I told them your place would work—”

“Hey, hey, it’s all good,” Nursey said. He smiled, a little cautiously, and reached out for Dex’s hand. “It’s just good to see you. I missed you.”

“I missed you, too.”

I only watched the first maybe first two episodes before dumping it.

I am still mad that I watched it all the way through, thinking surely the message would get better. 

It did not. Fuck that series.

Thank you @sdlibrarian for rec’ing this story by @consultingreaders. I had read it once before, but I’d forgotten just how much I loved it. It absolutely brought more happiness into my life, exactly what I was looking for.

I also love it cause it is angst free. In fact I started rereading it yesterday since I needed something angst free and happy to escape into for awhile. The small bit of angst in their past just helps to make the relationship real and show how solid they will be when the finally get together.

I love this fic so, so much! This scene was honestly one of my favorites to read because it flowed so naturally and was just really incredibly written. I think some of the best things that I’ve written, too, come out when I can hear it super easily in my head, and then it just flows. I totally get where you’re coming from!
