Mr. Qi's Nesting Behavior

Before we begin, I'd like to talk about these snakes we see in the Skull Cavern. They are cobras. And why is it important? IT IS VERY IMPORTANT.

See, this scene portrays a classic depiction of a snake charmer. And the most popular snake to be used here is cobra.

Mr. Qi definitely can hypnotize snakes to his will. He is a snake charmer, but one may say that he has a deeper connection with these creatures. Many of the fans draw him with snake eyes (which I think is really hot), and some draw him as a full snake or a half snake.

So would it be possible for him to be a cobra specifically?

Stay with me now. Cobras, especially king cobras, are known to fiercely guard their eggs. Not every snake does this. Most will just lay eggs and go about their life. The female cobras, however, will make nest and curl with the eggs until it hatches. In my culture, it is believed that cobras will haunt you even after their death if you take their eggs.

Now, this is a stretch, but people around here also say that they mate for life, that's why they're especially protective of their youngs. Many fictions with snake coded characters love assigning this trait to them, some twists the protectiveness into possessiveness.

Like, yeah if you're pregnant with his child, I think he'd have the urge to hide you away and insist you only stay inside 'cause female cobras are supposed to curl in the nest the entire time. And he would be so protective and all hissy if anyone comes close to the area.

Yeah, I see even more surveilliance coming here. There would be no blind spot EVER. He could be setting multiple traps for the intruders too.

But if you prefer him to be the pregnant one instead..... I think he would nest inside that dimly lit walnut room all day, watching you from the screen until you come back to him. I don't know??? Or he would disappear until the child is out, which got you so panic you flipped the entire map upside down.

Just thinking. Do what you must with this information.
