These are red-lipped batfish, and I am, as the kids say, “obsessed”

These delightfully fancy fellows are bottom feeders and terribly bad swimmers. Their fins are highly adapted so that they can walk along the ocean floor. After maturity, one of their fins hardens into a spine with an esca (light) at the end.

Lipstick and a disco light draws prey in. Sassy.
