Michio Mokota/Reed Pepper and Teppei Tairyōbata/Trout - Arc V
Seafood page number 3 babey!!
So out of the revealed new charas for Vrains who do you think is suitable to be Yusaku's boyfriend material ;)?
Oh, anon.
Also I know you meant for this to be a squishy ask but I went heavy with the meta. I’m so sor.
Akira: I’m gonna call it right now and say he’s probably too old for Yusaku. He’s either Aoi’s father or big brother, but even if he’s the latter, there’s a youthfulness both Go and Shoichi have that Akira simply… doesn’t. And even once Yusaku is older, dating your best friend’s dad/much older brother isn’t a good look, you know?
Naoki: So Naoki pretty much looks like the reincarnation of Teppei, which should set off some alarm bells. For most of his time on-screen, Teppei was an annoying, cowardly swindler. Teppei was also, ultimately, a minor character, and we’re not supposed to get overtly attached to those (’supposed to’ being the key phrase).
But here’s what we should remember. Teppei reformed—and, along with Michio, was part of one of the most heart-rending scenes in season 1, if not Arc V altogether. He also got really close to Michio. Really. Close. Almost boyfriend close, but you didn’t here it from me *hides*
Naoki was also introduced alongside Akira (a likely antag), Shoichi (a likely main chara, since he’s fighting the KoH as well), and Ema (who we don’t know much about, but will likely be important judging by her hair). So if Naoki is just some throwaway, then why introduce him with characters who are obviously going to be important? The answer: because he’s also going to be important.
Getting back to what you asked: is he boyfriend material for Yusaku? If Yusaku becomes the Michio in this situation, then yes.
Do I want them to get ’deleted’/killed together? Obviously not, and the chances of such a thing happening to at least Yusaku are practically non-existent. Is Naoki going to be able to trick Yusaku the same way Teppei did to Michio? Lol, not likely. But if they’re able to build a strong enough friendship so that a loyalty develops, and they duel as well as Michio and Teppei? That’s a strong foundation for a relationship, I would say!
Revolver: *paces back and forth*
So Revolver is the only one of the four new boys who’s stated to be an antagonist. That is obviously going to be a damper on any relationship between him and Yusaku, especially given Yusaku’s personal motive for going after the KoH.
We don’t know much about Revolver yet, but if he does have some sort of preexisting connection to Yusaku, the nature of it could make or break any potential for romance between them. They obviously can’t date if they’re brothers. If they used to be friends before Revolver poisoned Yusaku’s water supply, burned his crops, and delivered a plague onto his house? Chances of them ever getting together are also pretty slim.
But Spongebob references aside, can we expect Revolver to have done anything that severe out of malice? He’s the introductory antag. Iirc, from 5Ds on our other introductory antags were: Jack, Kaito, and Reiji. You know… the rivals.
So even if Revolver was involved in some event that completely flipped Yusaku’s life upside down, there’s going to be some deeper reason for it. He was either being manipulated like Jack, or is ends-justifies-the-means like Kaito and Reiji. He’s not going to be this irredeemable character.
So would they be good together, in a relationship? Highly dependent on what their preexisting relationship is, if there was one at all. But if Revolver follows the paths set by the other rivals, then it’s a given that they’re gonna get their gay on at some point.
Shoichi: I saved the best for last!
No really, I saved the best for last. I’m gonna come right out and say given out current knowledge, Shoichi would be the best for Yusaku. And I’ll tell you why!
At the moment, Shoichi’s goals seem to be the most in line with Yusaku’s. They’re both hackers. No other character has been confirmed to be fighting the KoH besides these two. Shoichi is also going to give Yusaku info on the Mysterious Lifeform, which is presumably going to lead to him getting his hands on it.
And that’s important! Shoichi knows about the Mysterious Lifeform, which makes it likely that he’ll also be inclined to protect it from the KoH and SOL. This means that Shoichi could possibly be Playmaker/Yusaku’s first ally.
He could even be the first character of importance we meet period, since we don’t yet know if Yusaku starts off knowing Aoi or Go. Would it be presumptuous of me to say that I smell a tritagonist, or even a deuteragonist? Maybe, but given our smattering of clues, all signs seem to point in this direction.
Really, what is the foundation for a good relationship? Goals that are either the same, or work well when achieved in concert. Similar interests. Similar morals. Trust. A common enemy. A Mysterious Lifeform to act as an adopted child.
And look, this is all subject to change since we know nothing about these dudes yet. But you see what I did here with the ordering?
TL;DR: From worst to best: Akira, Naoki, Revolver, Shoichi.
Lobby you’re AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOOO
Olivia and Lobby but 1000x more extra
pew pew were going to kill the green ninja
Oh shit I’m deaed
“Olivia! Olivia!?” Lobby yelled as she ran down the dirt path. She looked around at the various generals lying on the ground that had been run over by the ship the ninja had made. No Olivia. After checking the path the ninja had taken, she ran over to the house Olivia and her had been staying in.
Oh? I love Lobby???
