Shatter their souls. Steal their throne.Val is a prisoner. Held Below by the cruel Empress Sotera, she’s unable to warn the now High King Rune about Sotera’s plans to destroy the Wilds and Val’s former home in Seattle.
But when Val manages to escape, not only does she find herself beside Rune once again, she also finds herself in a new agreement with him: she’ll help him unite the Wilds in a way no High King has ever done. After all, taking the throne is one thing. Keeping it, and keeping Rune alive, is something else entirely. Only, Val’s not the same person she was before. She doesn’t know what she is, not to herself, and not to Rune, even as his fascination with her grows stronger by the day. To save Rune and the Wilds, Val will have to navigate constantly shifting alliances. And in doing so she just might become their salvation, or the very thing that destroys them all.

My Review: 5 STARS
Having read the first book in this trilogy, I was itching to dive back into the world that Fletcher has created. He has a way of pulling you in and sitting you down among the action, making you desperate to know what happens next and hooked until the last page, and even then you’re still yearning for more. I adored Val, the twists and turns of this story and that ending has me glad that I’ll soon be able to read the final book in the series. The way the story goes leaves you guessing and wishing you could predict what is going to happen next to all the characters. Very much recommended!

“May I stay with you for a few days?” Sam had asked him in that cute little British drawl of his. May I, he’d said - so cute, so adorable, as if Sean was gonna say anything but yes, as if Sean could ever. And seeing him so-- Miserable, so depressed, that’s just! You know. Sad.
“‘Course you may, honey,” Sean had said, patting the side of Sam’s cheek.
He hadn’t been prepared for this.
He hadn’t been prepared for Sam sleepily wandering around the house in just his boxers and a cute little t-shirt; hadn’t been ready for Sam’s adorable little yawns and his stretches; absolutely hadn’t been expecting how clingy Sam suddenly was. Clingy! To Sean!
It helps that he’s pretty. Sam, he’s a cute little Brit, clumsy and silly and too proper, and golly, Sean just-- He just loves him. Just thinks he’s the sweetest. And this thing with Rebecca, foisting a baby onto the guy, telling him to get rid of his cat - the cat currently curled up on the sofa, who’s the most adorable old man, like...
Mmm.
So maybe Sean has been a little, uh--
Ha. Maybe a little bit proprietary.
Scorn their gods. Save the world.
Val is alone. After taking the throne of Those Below, her alliance—and any relationship she might have had with Rune, High King of the Wilds—was shattered. Now, as enemies close in on all sides and her magic slowly kills her, Val isn’t sure how long she can survive. But with an awakening god threatening to rip apart their worlds, Rune at last proposes one final alliance between them to protect all they hold dear. As Val becomes ensnared in more bloody conflicts, and more involved with Rune than she ever dreamed possible, it becomes clear that winning may require the ultimate sacrifice. And Val will have to choose, once and for all, where her heart and soul truly lie.

Having read Fletcher’s work before I knew I was in for a treat with this trilogy and he did not disappoint. From the idea of the Wilds, to Those Below and everything in between, this was an explosive trilogy from start to finish. I adored Val, Rune and many of the others and this thrilling and epic conclusion just made me love them even more. Watching the threads of plot from book one start to be pulled together by this final one just had me in awe of Fletcher’s skills. He is an author who knows how to tell a good story and this was an excellent trilogy with unique characters, plot, and everything else. Very much recommended!

Carve their hearts. Take their power.
Val has only ever known a Seattle surrounded by the forested Wilds. Like everyone, she’s heard whispers about the glittering, ruthless kingdoms and dangerous human-like wildlings deep within. But with a sick guardian and money tight, Val’s more than willing to brave the Wilds’ depths, carving and selling magic-filled heart gems from its numerous beasts. Until one day she wanders too far and Rune finds her. He’s a wildling, more savage and beautiful than any beast, and he has a deal for her: Val will use her unique abilities to help him take the unclaimed high throne of the Wilds. In return, Rune will let her carve the powerful heart gems of his enemies, something there’s no shortage of. As Val is thrust into a vicious conflict between Lords, kings, and awakening gods, nothing is as it seems. But both the Wilds and Rune—cruel, kind, broken Rune—hold secrets, and if Val’s not careful it might be her heart she loses next.

I’ve read a lot of Fletcher’s books and always find myself falling entranced by the worlds he creates and this one was no different. I loved Val, her fighting spirit and her ability to see both sides drew me into the story. I ended up finishing the book in one sitting, going through the battles, the fights, the twists and turns that the story took you alone. I adored Rune and his black and white way of thinking. The unique path the story came across and that ending left me desperate for more, to know how this series will play out. One to watch and one that I very much recommend!

Deep in the darkness, the dragon waits to be unleashed…
The impossible has happened: Tyrus—a true dragon—has been communicating with Astrid.
He’s alive, he’s trapped, and he needs Astrid and Kaden’s help to escape. Astrid has no clue where to start looking, until she and Kaden are invited as champions to the Guild Games, a prestigious competition between the dragon-kin guilds. And surprise, surprise, this year the Games are taking place in Yellowstone, exactly where Tyrus is being held. Astrid doesn’t believe in coincidences, and this one’s too good to pass up. Even if they’re walking right into a trap. Kaden doesn’t trust the Games’ promise of building “unity”, but they’re the perfect ruse to give them time to find Tyrus. And maybe give him time to grow closer to Astrid, the girl who changed his life, the girl he can’t bear to be without, and the girl he’s terrified of losing. But things take a turn for the dangerous when they discover that Nico is after Tyrus, too, and nothing will get in his way. Worse, someone is sabotaging the Games, leaving champions invalid and fingers pointed at Astrid and Kaden. If they don’t stop Nico, find Tyrus, and clear their names, their newest enemy may become the guilds themselves...Amazon

I read the second book int his series and had to dive into this one almost immediately. With Kaden and Astrid facing new dangers and trying to find their way through all the twists and turns, I knew I was in for a good ride. The book pulls you in from the first page and keeps you hooked until you reach the end, and even then you are desperate to know more. I finished this in one sitting and glad I have the fourth book so that I can jump right into that and continue on with the story. An amazing urban fantasy series, and one I very much recommend!

I dived into this having read the first three books and desperate to know what happened after the events of book three. You’re thrown into the action, and Fletcher pulls you alone with all the twists and turns. New characters, arcs that come full circle and keeping you hooked to every single word. By the end of it, you’re feeling like you fought the battle yourself, and it was just perfectly crafted to be satisfying in the best way. Having read other Fletcher books, I knew I was going to be in for a great ride, and I was no disappointed. Loved it, highly recommended!

A lone dragon is a vulnerable dragon, and the Slayers are closing in…
Kaden shouldn’t have left. Not the guilds. Not Astrid when she needed him most.
But the deadly Slayer Nico is working on his next plan to destroy the dragon-kin, and Kaden is determined to take him down, no matter the cost. Only, Kaden’s broken, in both body and spirit. And when he finally uncovers part of what Nico’s planning, it may be too late for Kaden to stop him. Or for anyone to save Kaden himself. Astrid’s searching too, for the Slayers, for Kaden, and for answers about the mysterious visions she’s having and voices she’s hearing. A poison has left her full dragon magic more unstable than ever, and the Convocation’s creepy new trainer is only making things worse. If that’s not bad enough, her best friend Holly has discovered something insanely, dangerously, powerful long hidden within the guilds. It could be the very thing Astrid needs to stop the Slayers…or be Holly’s death. Desperate for answers, Astrid has to seek help from the very person who tried to kill her. She knows he has sinister motives of his own, but she’ll have to play his game if she wants a chance to save her friends, and all dragon-kin, before it’s too late.Amazon

I’d read the first book in this series and loved it so when the next three were out, I had to pick them up to binge read them ASAP. I adore Astrid and Kaden, watching them both come through things in their own different way and seeing where their journey takes them. Fletcher has a way of building a world that has you hooked from the first page and leaves you desperate for more. This book was no exception to his usual skill, and I breezed through it in a day, not wanting to stop because every page is begging to be turned. Overall an amazing read, and one that I recommend!
