Scarcity Mindset is when your ability to think long term is compromised by fear. Typically, this is the fear that you won’t have the resources (time, money, energy) to execute your long term vision, so you compromise (for example, by accepting to do work that you don’t really believe in or that is below your normal rate).
Why Scarcity Mindset is dangerous:
It breeds compromise.
It changes the way you think and the decisions you make.
It stunts long-term growth.
It’s habit-forming.
I'm paralyzed by indecision a LOT. I'll get an idea in my head to do something and then spend hours on hours researching the best tools or reading how others accomplished said thing, without ever getting started because I’m so afraid of failure (or success?).
I found this beautifully hand-lettered and awesome advice last night from Sean McCabe on Twitter:
Deciding where to start is the enemy of starting. You can’t steer a parked car. Pick an option and GO! Starting is progress. Indecision is the enemy.
Hopefully it motivates and inspires you too.
