Hello everyone, with the new Soulblight Gravelord releases announced yesterday, my imaginings of an undead pirate faction have gone into overdrive. I really think an army of aquatic undead would contribute to fleshing out the oceans and waterways of the mortal realms whilst giving the Grand Alliance of Death some unique and interesting models that expand the current range of undead models available in AoS. Looking at the Idoneth Leviadon model, I began to consider what a 'vampirate' equivalent might look like and became intrigued by the notion of an old pirate ship lashed to the back of some giant sea beast. As I did not want something that felt like an undead variant of the Idoneth sea creatures, I began to consider what other creatures might be utilised by these undead marauders stuck in the cold, abyssal depths and I started to look at scavenging crustaceans, very much in line with the crab-like scavengers I had already envisioned as part of a potential undead pirate faction.
