Season 7 Final Arc closing scene rewrite because both Rex and Ahsoka deserve better:
Just like in the original, after Rex and Ahsoka safely make it into the fighter, they stop talking. We cut to Ahsoka digging a hole in the ground, her face covered in ash. She's completely alone. She stops suddenly and looks up in the direction of the venator class. Dropping her shovel, she sprints to the torn-up opening where she can see Rex.
Rex is unhelmeted, cradling Jesse, and staring down at Jesse's dead body. It's unclear whether Jesse had already been dead or whether Rex was forced to kill him. Ahsoka lays a hand on his shoulder.
Cut to both of them outside again, standing before the rows and rows of graves they'd dug for the clones they could find. Ahsoka kneels, places her lightsaber in the hole she'd dug earlier, filling it with dirt.
Rex, still standing, places a helmet we can't see on the pike. He stands back and kneels with ahsoka.
Wide shot: graves on the right, Rex and Ahsoka on the left. The wind blows dust across the scene. Besides the music, there's no sound. Rex falls to his knees, then curls all the way forward, his head in hands.
Close again. Ahsoka has pulled Rex into a hug. His shoulders are shaking. Ahsoka closes her eyes.
Final shot: slow pan over Jesse's helmet, bloodied and covered in ash, on the screen until its in the exact center.
