the Federal Way Link extension is open
Along the way, he said, Simon Sandh found how those small, rural transit systems serve as the "connectors" for so many communities.
The comment section, as usual. The car munches, the idealogues, car MADMAGTS (MAKE AMERICA DRIVE MORE AGAIN) are instructive to the mindset we are dealing with. The convenience mindset, the personal freedom mindset, the obstinate idealogical response to a fun story about the journey, taking time, and seeing the details. This is not a how to guide for regular travel, it's a trip. A trip of possibilities, of connection, of mundane daring.
Bellevue Station
trains !!!
:3
(more where that came from)
Boats (I took a Ferry yesterday)
So guess who went out (on my Bike) to take photos of a Transit Construction yesterday morning in the rain cause they were bored at sunrise and then fell asleep as soon as they got back home
This is the 145th Street Shoreline South Station, it's set to open in September
Also I went to go Swimming at the YMCA (that was a whole debacle because I had a less pleasant experience with gendered locker rooms) later that day and then took a nap so I feel so energized now that I'm gonna go back out there and take more pictures :3
Do you live in WA State? Do you take Sound Transit?
This is a survey regarding Sound Transit and Fare Enforcement. While the collective transit authority and NY law enforcement are reaching new levels of fuckery, it seems that Sound Transit is attempting to be less full of fuckery. https://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/5301983/Sound-Transit-Fare-Enforcement-Survey?utm_campaign=gm-fareenforcementsurvey-20191112&utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery
~Weekend Reading~
In case you haven’t already embarked on a long, cold journey to visit your family or someone else’s family or an extended vacation because you are your own family—or maybe you have and just need some stuff to read while you’re traveling—here are some great pieces from around the city:
Fathi Karshie gives a much-needed rundown about why some immigrant communities in Seattle have trouble trusting the local government at the Seattle Globalist.
Shelf Awareness checks in on the Amazon brick-and-mortar bookstore and the how this might be yet another chapter in their shitty relationship with small publishers. (h/t Seattle Review of Books)
Seattle Transit Blog runs down SDOT’s plans to improve RapidRide. They’re referring to it as RapidRide+, eschewing such fine options as RapiderRide and Just Give Me a Bus That Goes to My House, Please God, I Just Want a Commute That Does Not Take an Hour.
In case you missed South Seattle Emerald’s profile of Islamic School principal Aishah Bomani on Monday, you should read that now.
