Climbing | Austin&Jude
It's another muggy day in Seattle and Jude misses the sun and heat of Washington, D.C. At this point in the year back in D.C., he'd be driving out to the beach. The school's pool is nice, but it's just not the same as swimming in a lake or the ocean. Instead of the pool, Austin and Jude try something different: indoor rock climbing.
As they enter the facility, Jude looks up at the numerous climbing walls, some already being traversed by harnessed strangers. He watches the technique of a few people, examines the different structures, breathes in the conditioned air. Then he combs a hand through his hair.
"I suppose now is a bad time to mention that I'm severely afraid of heights," he says to Austin beside him. He glances at Austin with a wide eyes and a lip quiver for an added effect and then he breaks character and laughs. "I'm just kidding. Heights are the best. Let's do this."
