my chook club recently had an auction, and I bought a dozen easter egger eggs (rainbow eggs) and a few barnevelder eggs for my broodies to raise. My most stubborn/determined is my 200g sebright, my winning show girl- she’s determind to fit the whole dozen full-sized eggs under her bantam body.

also my little maran babs today, I think they’re six weeks now? out exploring the chicken run. If you look close you can see an orpington butt in there too.

Sebright chicken is a true bantam breed from UK. This breed was develpoed as "ornamental birds" - in easy word, "pretty pet". Problem is, due to selective breeding this bird got a gene mutation occuring a kind of hyperestrinism. This mutation changes unusual amount of androgen into estrogen. So sebright cock have hen-like feathering(no mane and sickle tail) and some of them are born infertile. that would be one reason why sebright egg is expensive.

This bird is described like protective but basically kind, curious, independent, eye candy, cocky but cute....etc. btw There wasn't any "docile". imagine. He's as pretty as a girl, much smoler than other bois, even chemically castrated and feminized but nothing could take his fighting spirit. i adore you, boi.
