Being a little lost in thoughts, none of his usually sharp Shinobi senses were tingling when Fuso approached, though as soon as her lips meet his, she had his whole attention. There was a soft and happy smile and he quickly grabbed her by the wrist to pull her back and seal their lips into a longer, loving kiss.

Lazily did the Uzumaki pull closer to the Uchiha as she laughed softly and nuzzled his cheek once their kiss broke apart, looping her arms around his neck. Being the same height had some advantages, after all. “Ya look cute like that, Kaga. Kinda missed ya, yeah?” she greeted with a crooked smile, touching their brows.

It had been roughly two years since Kagami’s disappearance, and Fuso had to confess that she missed her friend. With her son’s fate as precariously unknown, Fuso took as many missions as she could both east and west, especially in the region where he’d last been seen. Moonlight filtered through the lush foliage as spring was just lapsing into the fulsome heat of summer, but being as nocturnal as the Uzumaki was meant that sentry duties sometimes fell to her when she wasn’t on her usual nightly escapades otherwise doing what was necessary to survive for dirt cheap. 

Yet, when she spied a moonlit face and familiar shaggy black hair, Fuso’s hackles raised in recognition to who exactly she was looking at. Leaping from the boughs, she heedlessly dove towards the Uchiha and sprinted towards him before skidding to a halt. He looked ragged and gaunt, a face she wasn’t unfamiliar with from her own decades spent in war-torn areas and in poverty. Without question did she loop the man’s arm over her shoulder, thinking against raising an alarm.

“Hey, Kagami-san, can you hear me? Let’s heal you before you return back to the village. Can’t go in this exhausted...”

“...Well, fuck.”

As far as kata went, Fuso was highly, totally certain that you weren’t supposed to punch the damn hitting-post-thing clean across the training grounds. The Uzumaki awkwardly stood in place, staring holes through her own hands as if she’d grown a few extra pairs of fingers. “Hm,” she grunted as she closed her hands into fists and pocketed them in her baggy vest’s pockets, turning to face the taller man with a slouch in her back.

“That’s... not how you’re supposed to do it, right, Maito-san?”

Kagami looks up in surprise, smiling brightly up at the red haired kunoichi. "Oh Kami, those look amazing, Fuso!". Carefully he took the small box and waited for her to also take a seat before opening the box and excitedly sharing the treat.

"Ooooh those are heavenly!!!" There was a small squeak in his voice, it was almost inaudible but it just showed even more how much he liked the taste of the dangos.

After Fuso passed off what remained of the box of dango (that had a good dozen she’d had at least four sticks of), a wary glance was cast over her shoulder, vigilant for the asshole Jounin she’d stolen them from in the first place. Fucker deserved it, and Kagami was ranked higher than him. 

“Glad you do; they were on sale,” Fuso replied with a wan smile, not quite touching the corners of her eyes. Yup, five finger discount kinda sale. “Are we almost ready to head out, Uchiha-taichou?”

“Alrigh’, we’re here. Surprised the gates are still open, too...”

The flight from Amegakure had been long and arduous, but after everything they’d gone through, gods, Fuso felt like she could practically swoon from knobby-kneed relief at finally finding her son--with others she’d taken under her wing, too. Three years had passed since then, and the Uzumaki had been surprised at how much her son had grown. As squalls of rain buffeted the four of them, she couldn’t help but think that years of waiting and dread had finally been answered, and once she’d found them, she’d run on adrenaline for days; barely eating or sleeping until the gates of Konoha loomed over them in a smoky silhouettes through the rainfall. As if Amegakure clung to them, still.

They were able to cross the threshold without issue, assuring the border guards that had confronted her about the children that had accompanied her until she told them and assured she’d meet with some official or other in the morning. With her arms protectively draped over the trio, she spoke until they were allowed passage, trembling from the adrenaline just beginning to wane. But, her work wasn’t done yet.

“Come on, let’s get the three of ya back t’the temple. Reckon yer hungry, and it’s late enough as it is.”

Admittedly, she was nervous about asking him. Considering how they’d seem to have flown through their confession just a few night before, Fuso’s heart pounded into her throat. Where she’d lived in the Eddie Country had never put much stock in ‘dating’, arranging marriages much like how she and Ise had agreed to marry. But, since discovering what it was, having one of her Suns within close proximity, well... she just had to. 

The Uzumaki was barely able to hide the blush that dusted her cheeks, flagging the Uchiha down in the canteen where new arrivals from missions were invited to rest before returning home, mainly to lunch and fill out mission reports. There she saw Kagami chattering with his team, feeling her cheeks darken hopeless.

Shit, just bite the bullet--fucking bite!

“Um--Kagami-taicho, will ya go on a date with me?” she blurted aloud, drawing the shocked appraisal of his teammates, and likely himself. “I mean, if ya want--!” Her voice pitched nervously, cheeks as red as her hair by that point.

“Look, it’s not that I don’t appreciate the runaround, or anythin’. But...”

Without an ounce of shame did Fuso stride towards the Uchiha presently seated, likely enough to disrupt whatever papers he’d been going over in his quiet camaraderie in the closed room the pair shared. Studying was starting to numb her mind enough as it was. Shamelessly did the Uzumaki shed off her oversized denim vest and let it fall to the ground, then straddling his lap where she proceeded to remove her knee-length dress where he could see now exposed breasts clearly. Tossing it aside, naked aside from her trousers, she perched her hands on his shoulders with raised brows.

“Gettin’ kinda tired of the chase, aren’t ya?”
