Petition to repeal Section 377A in Singapore
https://www.gopetition.com/petitions/ready-for-repeal.html
Section 377A is basically the part of the Singaporean law that criminalises sex between two men. It’s more than that in Singapore though- it fosters a culture of intolerance, and while it may just seem like a law to keep homophobic people happy, there have been citizens who have been fined and imprisoned for simply leading their lives.
here’s some history for those interested:
Singapore having been a British colony from the 19th century until February 1942 has had a significant effect on the legal system we have today. Before colonialism, most African and Asian communities were indifferent to homosexuality, but this changed after the Victorian Law System was implemented by the British on all their colonies. The Victorian Law System was heavily influenced by the conservative, Christian influences that existed in Britain at the time, and the impact of it on the colonies was so great that places such as Singapore, Uganda, and Malaysia still have versions of the same colonialist laws that were approved by the British. The infamous Singaporean section 377A is a good example of this, having been passed in 1938 by the colonial legislature. Today it has become the bill that most Singaporean LGBTQIA+ activists rally around repealing, hoping it will become of the first legal steps towards equality.

Malaysia’s National Harmony and Reconciliation Bill 2014, which is in a draft stage, is facing a backlash from politicians opposed to outlawing discrimination against people based on their sexual orientation, said attorney Lim Chee Wee.
As a result, the bill’s drafters are considering whether to drop that language from the bill entirely.
