3: morning/wake up call

Sam began to stir from the sound of the light alarm chiming from their phone. The morning sun strained to get into the room through the partially closed curtains, making it that much harder for Sam to convince themself to get up instead of turning the alarm off and drifting off again. Their hand shifts over to their phone, swiping the screen automatically and returning the room to silence. They kept their eyes closed, pacing their breaths in an attempt to stay awake. 7am was too early to be up.

Sam shifts their weight, rolling onto their back and stretching their limbs with a slight noise of satisfaction. It took another few moments before they could convince themself to sit up. Sam's eyes drift over to Wrench, the tall man shirtless and sprawled out loosely over his side of the bed and then some. One arm laid covering his eyes in an attempt to block out the small amount of sunlight that did leak into the room. He snored slightly with every few breaths, giving no indication of waking. Sam stopped for a moment to watch him as he breathed slowly and relaxed. It was nice to see him unguarded; to see that he felt safe enough to not only sleep soundly but do so without wearing his mask.

Sam moved slowly in an attempt to not wake Wrench as they got up from the bed. Wiping the sleep from their eyes Sam leaves the bedroom; not quite closing the door behind them and pathing to the small apartment kitchen. The cold tile floor was uncomfortable after just being so comfortable and warm, but Sam was willing to suffer in order to get some sweet caffeine.

It only took a minute to ready the coffee pot, and then a few more of waiting for the coffee to finish brewing. Sam grabbed the pair of mugs from the cabinet - one with a cartoony fox pattern and the other black with the words reading "King Butt Touches" across the side. It only took another moment for Sam to pour the coffee, mix in the sugars, and stir some creamer into the fox mug before picking them up to make the short strip back to the bedroom. Sam pushed the door open with their hip, seeing Wrench still asleep and smiling. They placed the black mug on their bedside table before placing the fox mug down on Wrench's.

Sam slowly moved Wrench's arm from his face, briefly holding his hand before he begins to shift and pulls away to try to hide his face again. "This is where I start bothering you to get up," Sam spoke in a soft tone as they sat down on the bed. Wrench slightly opens one eye, his eyebrows raising for a moment before he closes his eyes again. He moves, but this time to pick up his pillow and place it over his face, "Five or fifty more minutes." Sam chuckles, "I made you coffee though It will probably get cold pretty quickly." "The technological marvel that is the microwave can make it hot again.. The future is now," his voice was muffled from under the pillow as he spoke, though his sarcastic tone was not lost. "If we leave early enough we can stop for breakfast instead of eating shitty microwave food at the HQ." Sam brought their feet onto the edge of the bed, tucking their knees to their chest before leaning their weight into Wrench slightly. "Aaaw.. But I love the shitty microwave food."

Sam sighs, "Y'know, you're not making this easy," they began to move their legs back down to the floor to stand, but don't make it as far before Wrench wrapped his arms around their midsection, pulling and rolling them back onto the bed beside him.  "That's the point,"  Wrench's voice was still gruff from sleep. Sam laughs as Wrench lifts his head to get the pillow beneath him again and further pulls Sam in as he gets comfortable again, "You know I’m here to make things difficult." Wrench's eyes stayed closed as he rested his head on Sam's chest, his arms still wrapped around their midsection and pinning them still.

Sam tried to wiggle free for a few seconds before realizing it was pointless to try to escape from Wrench's snuggle. With a sigh they lay one arm over his body and begin to mindlessly run their fingers through his already-messy hair. Sam could feel him shiver slightly under the touch before he relaxes his body again. Sam leans their head down as they move some of Wrench's hair from his face, "You're a pain in the ass," they say between placing a few small kisses on his forehead. Wrench was quick to lift his head to face Sam, his eyes still dark with sleep but his usual brand of playful smirk rested on his face, "But you love me." "Mmmmhm," Sam responds as they place another, long kiss on the bridge of the man's nose. Wrench followed by releasing his grip from their midsection as he lifted his body to better place a few rougher kisses against Sam's lips. He separates himself briefly, "I could make us even more late, if you want." His tone was playful, though it was clear he was only half-joking. Sam pulled him into another kiss before patting his cheek, "While you are convincing, that is the opposite of solving my problem."

Wrench gives an exaggerated groan as he rolls back onto his side and spreading his arms out dramatically. Sam softly laughs before scooting back to their side of the bed, grabbing their coffee and taking a few small sips.
