The Spanielship Enterprise detects some anamolous readings on the planet Flordia-3. Doctor McCocker beams down with The Redshirt Extra of the Week... that is, we mean to say... a Security Team to watch his back on the Away Mission.
They find a rock crawling with little green winged lizards, but the Universal Translator doesn't seem to pick up any sentient language. They're not the source of the Flordia-3 anamoly.
The Redshirt hears a sound and draws his phaser. "Doc, you'd better wait here while I check it out."
*strange alien noises*
Oh no. "He's dead, Jim."
It's... a bigger green lizard! And it ate The Redshirt Extra of the Week! But wait... now the Universal Translator is detecting language!
It's a Space Dragon, and asks McCocker to call it Draco Locus. Draco Locus reproduces by asexual budding, and it picked this remote planet to pop off and raise its larvae. It thought they would be safe here, so far from any occupied systems. It's very sorry about The Redshirt, but it saw the weapon and thought The Redshirt was threatening the larvae. They're just little Space Wyrms still, they won't be able to speak for another three hundred cycles.
Well, this anamoly has been thoroughly investigated. One to beam up!
